She knew she was going to be excused from the ring if her dog tried to bite the judge… and that was the next thing that was going to happen if she didn’t get her dog under control… and the chance of being unable to show him anymore… aggression towards a judge is inexcusable and she knew that…
Sankt Bernards (especially the males) don’t shy away from biting in situations like these that make them uncomfortable. The owner was trying to avoid just that.
US Citizen here, I *LOVE* seeing dogs with ears and tails intact! After 40 years working with animals and in animal rescue, I still don't understand the idiocy of US show breeders insisting on mutilating dogs to show. Bless those US show breeders that are following the humanity of the rest of the world's show breeders in leaving their dogs in a natural state.
Trends vary in various countries. So we can not be overly intrusive about the personal choices of others if personal choice is what has been granted. In regard to breeders we know of who crop the ears and dock the tails, mainly the thing given us to encourage is good care and maintenance by the breeder who takes the responsibility of seeing the cropped and docked litter of puppies through the healing process.
I'm sorry but that tail on dobie looks ridiculous!! Th ears I may deal with . I have red dobie, 12 yrs now, & in U.S used to that look.Dobies area large entry at shows, & a n au natural stand out like sore thumb. It's been acceptable for centuries, so one should be able to choose.
Breeders of show dogs tat requiredocking are done few days after birth, as can't tell which will be show quality, ears can be done up to 3-4 mos( depending on breed) & u can choose puppy at 8-9 wks & decide if want crop
The Rottweiler was spectacular! Great mover. Such a friendly, happy boy. The bullmastiff and Tibetan mastiff was also lovely. Favourite group to watch. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
Wonderful to see Carl Hester! I know he's a massive dog lover. I loved all four dogs who placed, but the Tibetan Mastiff I thought was the most magnificent.

I feel it's better for the handler to show the judge the dogs bite not for the judge to just walk right up to the dog and put their hands on the dogs muzzle and look at its bite. They do that in the states ,ask the handler to show the bite.
Some breeds in UK it's the handler that shows the bite to the judge. Again that judge was really rough & just grabbing the muzzle to lift the dogs lips up roughly, I'm especially surprised he got away with such a way looking at the bite of that Tibetan Mastiff....
I think that the judge is very tall and quite muscular in appearance is putting the dogs off, a big person towering over them and not being very gentle or considerate isn't a good combination
Mah.
For god sake change the judge next time. This man is awful! Many dogs showed some fear or felt uncomfortable, only the st. Bernard reacted tho. No need to be rough. Choose a woman next time!
The word "eskimo" is an insult noun. Es·ki·mo ˈe-skə-ˌmō 1. plural Eskimo or Eskimos, often offensive; see usage paragraph below : a member of a group of indigenous peoples of southwestern and northern Alaska, Greenland, eastern Siberia, and especially in former use arctic Canada.
And yet the breed is recognised as Canadian Eskimo dog internationally. As are American Eskimo dogs. Pretty sure the intention was never to be offensive and adults understand that.
Aside from docking and cropping, they’ve sure lost the integrity of the wonderful Bouvier by trying to groom it into a Kerry Blue Terrier… it’s SO over groomed… truly just not a Bouvier … too bad. I’m horrified frankly. It looks rediculous…😑🫣‼️
@@danielledewitt1 I disagree… just my humble opinion. I understand banning docking and cropping, but there’s something about a sculpted coat on a Bouv that just looks not like a Bouv… and it started years ago…
So much respect for the handler retiring the sankt bernard when it got spoked by the judge.

In Canada, it’s moving that way. People who have working versions of the breeds, seldom crop and dock

Adore the Leonberger and the Tibetan Mastiff........quality dogs. The judge was being far too rough with all of them.
So HAPPY to see a Doberman with tails and ears!❤
Dobermann.
A couple of the dogs looked uncomfortable with the judge, lip licking, looking or turning away etc
Especially with the working/ guard dogs ... come on .. the judge should have behaved better.
You do have to remember its a very different environment in the main ring then in the breed rings

The Great Dane was absolutely beautiful, I felt bad for the St Bernard because he clearly didn't like the judge.
The dog was overwhelmed with the big ring and the noise.

Probably healthier tho

My favorite was the Newfoundland...my goodness he is beautiful. But then they are all beautiful...
Good judge!!! well done...
Then why were the dogs not happy?
Can anyone tell me why german shepherds are not included with working dogs?

OK. They look great. Can we see the working dogs actually doing some work?
Why was that St Bernard so nervous?
Judge was really rough and brisk. He's grabbing rather than going over the dogs gently
