  • How to SSD upgrade or replace the hard disk in an HP Pavilion Notebook 15-ab271sa
    Also known as a K7Q65EA#ABU
This video shows you which screws to undo, where the hidden screws are and how to open up, swap out or upgrade the hard disk with an SSD. Also shows you where other components are within the computer like the RAM, Keyboard connector, fan etc.

Thank you so much. I was nervous, but I did it by myself change the HDD to SSD. 😀

Macrium Reflect used to be free for home use, it may still be. You would also need a USB to SATA adaptor so you can plug in the new drive, clone your existing drive. Then swap out the drive like shown in the video.
There are many other tools too, Macrium isn't the only option.

Bog standard but from a known brand like WD or Kingston.

My hard drive is having issues so i took it apart and the ribbon cabel connected to it is bent in a sort of zig zag is it meant to be like that and if not what do i do?

Bent is probably fine, it isn't fine if you can see any of the wires or one or more look like they are not connected.

The hard drive may be on its way out? My cable was folded over in a zig zag as well when I replaced my ssd.

Mine has a removable keyboard like so ua-cam.com/video/UwccwebeTYM/v-deo.html but do you see any reason the repairman in that video removed the keyboard at all? Couldn't I just follow your instructions instead? Seems more straight forward to me.

The videos are about entirely different laptops. The hard disk for the 15-n is under the palmrest which is removed towards the top of the machine where as the 15-ab it is underneath the machine and the underside of the machine comes off.
