Interesting comment about the red-white-and-blue framing. This caught my eye in the wikipedia entry: "Around the same time, the studio rejected plans from Twister actress Helen Hunt to direct a sequel. That version, written by Hunt, Rafael Casal, and Daveed Diggs, who collaborated on the television series Blindspotting, would have followed "all black and brown storm chasers", members of a rocket science club at a historically black college and university."
Huge nostalgia for all those movies. Feeling like the sequels could help encourage a younger audience to checkout out those older films. I know they could just watch them anyway, but for me if a soft reboot of citizen kane came out, I probably would finally get around to watching the original
@@Billionth_Kevin That's a good point, although I don't entirely agree. I worry that younger audiences will simply go with the reboots /and/or sequels and not bother with the originals. Which is sad, because the reason that originals get reboots is because they were good or even great. It may just be that I'm old and set in my ways. I didn't enjoy the Star Trek reboots, but that could be due to my having watched the original TV series when it aired in the late 60's. Can't teach an old dog new tricks, or in my case an old dog to like a new cast.🙂
I haven't seen the movie yet but I heard that there are some things that happen that are physically impossible to happen during a tornado. It seems like this is nothing more that they typical disaster films like 2012, Deep Impact and Armageddon. I'll wait for this to come on streaming service before I watch this one, Vicky.
AMEN! Thank you for the validation I needed! So many people loved it and I left feeling disappointed not knowing exactly why. I agree that there was an overall lack of direction, story development, and clear goal. I felt there were way too many lose ends that fizzled out and that the end goal switched directions too many times to actually feel excited for the characters…it reminds me of who I felt when I left after the Barbie movie…too many storylines that ended up going nowhere
Yeah I'm totally in the same boat here. To add to all those points, I didn't like the way the tornadoes were shot and framed so casually, and showed up so conveniently. In the first film they felt hard to come by and when you did get to see them there was a real sense of wonder and awe and each one had its own personality and sound, in this one they just casually drive into them all the time so it feels like there's less sense of danger.
YES! I know it's a film and everything is technically on cue and fabricated, but the tornadoes really were just popping up at exactly the right time. Everytime. 😂
I also found the score lackluster. In addition, the country music was overwhelming many a scene, and Im a person that can enjoy country every now and then. I didnt hate that but it def was a con
I thought Twisters was awful and hugely disappointing. The characters were just irritating, the movie was wayy too loud - I watched in IMAX and wish I hadn't. I did like the opening scene. That's it.
heterodon't! Also the director said he didn't plunge into the climate change deal cause he wanted to make sure that he wasn't putting forward any message he just doesn't feel like films are meant to be message-oriented .................
I don't get why buying up land after it's decimated makes him a villain. I don't get why the other team is bad for not abandoning the chase to drive all the way to town to "help". like help how, telling random people already taking cover to... take cover more? why are storm chasers cutting each other off? why are they competing to be first there's no gain? Also is everyone's car windows made of transparent aluminum I don't even think they got scratched. it was dumb, I don't understand why people are praising it so much.
SPOILERS To me the way everybody went immediately gaga for Kate was like the grown-up version of The Big Bang Theory schtick: a bunch of nerds' (weather as a hobby, hello?) brains melt because a hot girl walks in and speaks their lingo. It was both extremely funny and cringey. And ofc the friend was in love with her too. SMH. What I did like was that they let her do the final "saving" on her own, while they guys stayed put. Not some BS about letting others help you and opening up to people, just to have the love interest rescue her at the end. I know, the bar is in hell 🤣
That is true, I did like how she saved the day all by herself. There were some decent moments, but yes, the fact that EVERYONE was basically in love with Kate was ✨️exhausting✨️
"manic pixie stormchaser" sounds like the best anime
I'd watch it, tbh 🤪

THE CONSPIRACY CONTINUES OMG 😲
This movie just didn't need to get made. Some things don't need sequels. Twister, Beetlejuice, Gladiator are shining examples of this for 2024.

Yeah, I get why studios make sequels/reboots, but I dint always agree. They're not always made with the best intentions in mind 😔

Agree! Too much country. The OG manages to have all genres ✨️
I rewatched Twister within a week and they were definitely the same movie. Almost scene for scene
I enjoyed it and will definitely have to say that it is a stand alone movie. But still going to get it when it comes out and hits the shelves.
I don't have any nostalgia for Twister whatsoever and think Twisters was definitely only mid at best, so it's not just your nostalgia goggles!
Thank you for validating my nostalgia 😅 appreciate you 🙏
before i hear your review - i liked the movie, it was entertaining.
there were a few plot holes. BUT it was good. nothing award winning but fun!!
Agree, I felt it was okay!
POV appreciated and agree, not surpassing OG. Was decent but not a constant rewatch unless with others.
I enjoyed the movie but Kate wasn't believable as her character. Wrong actress choice.
I thought Twisters was awful and hugely disappointing. The characters were just irritating, the movie was wayy too loud - I watched in IMAX and wish I hadn't. I did like the opening scene. That's it.
Maybe it was my theater (or my poor hearing after too many concerts) but I didn't think it was loud enough 😂 We should've swapped!
@@NightmareMaven haha yeah maybe we shudve! I am half deaf in my right ear tho and STILL thoughtit was too loud lol. Also quite boring too x

I was somewhat entertained, but it was too similar to the first/original.
