- At long last, here's part two of the three part video series: my favorite albums of the 2010's. In this video, I talk about albums No. 20 - 11 on the list. For those of you invested in the series, thank you for your patience as I had a lot going on "IRL" (in real life) that got in the way of editing this one.
Let me know below how you feel about these albums, if any of them mean as much to you as they do to me! I look forward to continuing on this list and talking about the rest of my favorite albums of the last decade. Enjoy!
Building on the playlist from the first video, here's the link to a playlist of all the songs featured from these albums (now at a total of 40 tracks): • Japandroids - The Hous...

prime fortnite and a new ruff criminal video on the same day, god truly is good 😩
OG Fortnite on the weekend the clocks turn back, gamers truly won
@@ruffcriminal if you ever do plan on still making that fortnite video i'd love to hear your thoughts on this throwback season as well as the game as a whole
Nice to hear that you're undertaking the "1001 albums you must hear before you die" one album a day project too! I've generated about 450ish albums so far and it's been a lot of fun discovering new music and genres that I haven't explored very deeply before, as well as revisiting some of my favourite records. Would love for you to do a video on some of the albums that you've reviewed for it :)
i'd love to hear your reviews! i'd also want to see a vinyl collection video
Late Jai Paul enjoyer but wow that album is incredible. Even with all of the missing polish it's still one of the most unique and incredible albums I've listened to.
Dude, there's just something special about Angels & Airwaves. Listened to them 24/7 through middle school and high school. You mentioned them being "aspirational" and that's a perfect description.
Hopefully this doesn't sound too ostentatious, but their music (really the first 3 albums) gives me this feeling of aspiring to the future and reflecting on the past.
Also, Atom Willard is an absolute animal on the drums. Their sound hasn't been the same since his departure.
Absolutely, I honestly think perceptions of their music have a lot to do with whether you heard their music in middle/high school! Also completely agree about Atom
I also love Japandroids! especially Continuous Thunder off of that same album. For me, they occupy a really similar space as The Hold Steady (with whom they toured in I think 2017 and are my absolute favorite band), Les Savy Fav, Gang of Youths, etc. in that they just exude positivity and for lack of a better phrase, they rock!
As someone who’s been trying to get into older music this year, I would absolutely love to see these for other decades. It doesn’t have to be a top 30 or anything but I would love to hear Ruff’s thoughts on some earlier musical eras
Congrats on the move man, I hope it went smoothly. Looking forward to watching this and hearing your thoughts
Been excited for this one!!

2. Kendrick Lamar- To pimp a butterfly (2015)
3. Death grips- The money store (2012)

5. Between the buried and me- Parallax II (2012)

I will anxiously await the next part of this series 4 months from now, also the album reviews would be dope
So nice to see some love for Japandroids, clearly one of the bands that shape my 2010s, musically and personally, with their three albums (the 2009 debut is also excellent). You nailed the description, truly one of the most anthemic records of the decade (if not ever tbh), between euphoria and nostalgia. Also insane energy considering it's just two guys, live they were epic.
Yeah it was acclaimed back then but I feel many have forgotten about the band nowadays, perhaps because the follow-up "Near to the Wild Heart of Life" wasn't nearly as good (but still pretty solid) and also because they haven't released anything in a while... 6 years damn, I hope to get some news in 2024.
Also that Bon Iver is really sublime, most definitely in my top 10.
We love to see NxWorries appreciation!
Agreed! I fucking love that album.
Can't wait for part 3
fkn love this channel man!
great video as always, love your content! 100k soon 👀
Ruff! Love the continuation of the list. Some real good ones on here. Acid Rap is a must, with my favorite track being Chain Smoker. Yes Lawd is another must include. Bon Iver is a great pick, but I'm curious to here your thoughts on their 22 a Million. I hated it at first, but I played it a few more times and it opened my eyes. It was like a near spiritual experience.
You’ll find out in the next video!
@@ruffcriminal Thanks! You're the real MVP. Looking forward to it!
It's finally here!!
I'm a big fan of Oh What a World (actually found Golden Hour hrough the 1001 album generator), but it's been significantly harder to listen to seriously since thinking about how it kinda has the same message as Miracles by Insane Clown Posse
"i've never heard someone so affectionately...call a woman a bitch" is the most perfect description for Yes Lawd! ever lmao
I just discovered your channel and I love the contact lol
Welcome!!
i know im 5 months late to the video, but since you said you are more of a movie guy in one of your videos i would love to see you do this format for your top films too.
you better not delay as long as this one for part 3!
Part 14 of asking Ruff criminal to review Anri’s Timely!!! (The best album of the 80s)
Part 13 of seconding your suggestion for Ruff Criminal to review Anri's Timely!!! (a baker's dozen, the best kind :] )
Ruff, we need a blue ray tour.
Thanks
Thanks for the advice on Rodeo because I don't care for it. This might help a bit.
Man, I've only gotten into Mac Demarco recently (in the last year or so), but I have such incredibly mixed feelings about This Old Dog. Not for any reasons you might think, and absolutely no fault of Mac's own.
**trigger warning: mass shootings, sensitive content in general**
I really love This Old Dog, actually. It's very fun and chill to listen to on a surface level, and like Ruff mentioned, I really appreciate the touching themes of aging and change when you listen to the lyrics. My only real hang-up, however, is discovering that the Parkland shooter was listening to this album in full as he took the lives of so many. This is obviously no indictment of anybody who listens to This Old Dog, and it goes without saying that Mac isn't responsible for the atrocities committed to it. It's just that while I didn't go to Stoneman Douglas at the time, one of my teachers lost her husband in that shooting. I knew none of the victims personally, but many of my friends lost people that day. I watched my teacher and her son have to process the fact that their husband and father was stolen from them by senseless violence. The album itself has no reason to be affected, but it'll always be tainted with deep pain and melancholy for me. It's hard for me to think of it as something other than the soundtrack to one of the worst days in my community's history, which sucks because it's such a great album.
Sorry if this was essentially trauma dumping, I'm happy to remove it if you think I should!!! I just felt like sharing my thoughts, so I really do apologize if this wasn't the time or place to do it :')
No apology necessary, thanks for sharing. Really horrible to hear that, I had no idea. Like you said, no indictment of the music, but completely understand why it would give you pause. I can’t imagine that anyone with that kind of malice or evil in their heart really appreciates art anyway, they don’t deserve it.
Paul Brothers got an institute they've been releasing other artists music on, congrats on the vinyl ur fiance a keeper for that
Other than the og goats such as Hank Williams, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Emmylou Harris, etc, if you're going to delve into country Orville Peck and Gillian Welch are both phenomenal and criminally underrated, especially Gillian
I've heard at least one album from everyone you mentioned here, maybe I'm not as unfamiliar as I think! Orville Peck is great, I really dug Bronco
Bon iver 4 lyf
Would love for you to read your reviews!
Hello papa
Piss on your grave is my only skip on Rodeo. Cannot stand it at all. For me, its all shock value and zero substance.
I'm a big fan of Oh What a World (actually found Golden Hour hrough the 1001 album generator), but it's been significantly harder to listen to seriously since thinking about how it kinda has the same message as Miracles by Insane Clown Posse
