I, American, found my Swedish husband 8 years ago on Twitch so we too met through online gaming!
That is amazing! Love knows no borders 😊
I'm in California and my son just married his Canadian sweetheart who he also met playing a game online. Americans usually have a tough time learning other languages when we're older because we aren't raised learning them, not like in Europe. I have a great friend in Uppsala, and I would do what you're doing is we could do it together. It's too isolated if you're alone.
It’s great how the internet can connect people in ways that were not possible in the past 😊 I agree, if english is your first language you’re fine speaking it in most parts of the world. With me being Dutch, and especially loving to travel, I had to get fluent in English in order to communicate. There’s only a handful of people that speak dutch compared to the world population 😅. And I would definitely say; the more languages you know, the easier it is to learn a new one
The smart part when moving to the Kalix area is that we are known to speak reeeeally slowly! ;)
Yes they speak very clearly here!
Sweden is and was a cold country. We hade lower inner roof and shorter doors in very old homes because not we was shorter which we wasn't much but it's about the heat, heat goes up and if you have high inner roof the heat escapes high above the heads, lower inner roof more near the living.
That makes sense! Our upstairs is actually surprisingly warm. We barely had the heater on up there during because the heat from the woodstove downstairs went up
Hi to u both and welcome to kalix! ☀️ I live here with my husband and we saw ur ad in the fb group! Keep up the good work and im excited for the new updates. 😍
Thank you very much! 😊
That was a very nice and informative video. Now summer is around the corner, and it's time to enjoy the wonderful summer nights. If you have a boat I really can recomend the archipelago. It is beyond beautiful!
I would love to own a boat and explore the Archipelago with it 🤩 haha I have been talking about ‘my boat’ ever-since we planned to move to sweden. Who knows, maybe the channel kicks off one day and I would be able to afford one. Until then it’s good to have dreams 😊🚤
Ja myggnät är definitivt en ’must have’ 😄
What I wounderfull Story of you to!!! Love to follow the channel seeing the new family in making up north
Thank you so much for your kind words! I am glad to hear you enjoy our videos 😊
Välkommen till byn! My husband moved here to Kalix about 9 years ago and he's still learning Swedish! xD I guess it's a bit harder to actually learn the language because everyone keeps switching over to English to be nice :D I can't wait to see how the house is coming along! :)
Oh yes that is a real problem! Haha every time we went to sweden I was super excited to try out and practice my newly learned Swedish. And every time people would switch over to english 😬 no offense they were trying to be helpful, but the struggle was real 😅
Välkommna till Sverige!
Tack så mycket
@@Projectsweden Sorry about the miss spelling on välkomna ,just a bit triggerhappy on the m:s there if you want to learn swedish,🙂
Hi guys!! Nice video!! Love hearing about you both!! Very interesting!! I am shocked that you learned the language so quickly!! Y'all take care ❤😊
Thank you for your kind words Tammy! I am glad to hear that you enjoy our videos 😊
You are really welcome here ❤
Thank you! 😊
Bra svenska😊 keep up the good work 👍
Tack så mycket Christian! We will 🙌🏻
@@Projectsweden Yes, I am also impressed by you Swedish. I guess it may be a bit easier to learn if you start as fluent in two (or is it three?) germanic languages.
And Eric's pronunciation was rather good for an American, even the Americans that learn our language well tend to have more problem with that part for years.
Sorry, I was using Swedish (understated) in praising you language skills even when writing in English. So in American it would be:
Yes, I am also impressed by you fantastic Swedish. I guess it may be a bit easier to learn if you start as fluent in two (or is it three?) germanic languages.
And Eric's pronunciation was superb for an American, even the Americans that learn our language well tend to have more problem with that part for years.
Tack så mycket! 😊 Swedish is my fourth language 🙉 Dutch, English & German are the other ones
Thank you so much! There will be many more videos to come!
Jaaa...zo zie je maar...it all started with a videogame...❤
It Figures!! 😄Dutch people are born linguistic wizards. I have met many NL people that speak four languages off hand. So learning SE is a yawn and a stretch for NL people. I'm native Swedish/half norwegian and also knows a little german, but unlike NL people we struggle for that third languge.
Hi Kalle! Have lived in multiple countries helps 😅 if you don’t use a language often it fades away. I actually was at a congress this week in germany and I had not spoken any german since we left switzerland 9 months ago. I was worried that I had forgotten and it certainly got rusty, but it went better again after a couple of days. Repetition is key :)
Welcome to Sweden and thank you for sharing this with us!
Thank you for your reply 😊
Most Welcome 😀👍🏻
Thank you! 😊
Yes we were a lot shorter my great grandmother were 137cm born about 1899 they didn`t have much to eat and did a lot of hard work as kids. She were born about 80km from your house.
We have been told the lady of the house was quite short as well.
Maybe I should have seen it, but where in the country are you? North of Sweden is pretty big... 🙂Or maybe you don´t want say - I would totally understand. Härligt att ha er här! Varmt välkomna! 🙂Skål! /New sub, norrlänning från Piteå, now living in Stockholm
She mentioned Kalix as the hospital she should be working at in episod 1, probably is by now. She didn't AFAIK mention how long time it was from the house to the hospital but they looked at houses not to far from it so it should be fairly close to Kalix in Norbotten.
Yes very precise :) we live not too far away from the hospital in a little town near Kalix
@@Projectsweden Thank you for that! Trevlig helg!
Tack detsamma 😊
You think Texas gets Hot try Arizona, I live in Yuma tomorrow will be over 100 F by 3:00 pm. In August by 10 am we are pushing 100 F.
I don’t do well in Hot. Anything above 85 isn’t fun anymore 😅. Even in Switzerland it was mostly over 90F for about 2-3 months straight. And NO AC’s! Crazyness. When I asked why no one had an AC there they said ‘it doesn’t get so hot here’ 😅 meanwhile I was cooking in my little brick build oven (appartment) where it was always even hotter than outside. I would take any -31 day over those days 😅 ❄️

I use to live in Michigan until I was 19 the Army decided they needed me for 3 years which I turned into 23 years then called it quite in Yuma. The winter in Michigan when I was young the snow was crazy before I left for the army I used to walk out to work in a lite weight jacket in -20 weather. How we change.
You get 480 days of parental leave. 240 days per parent.
Aha.. I did hear something about the 480 days. Did not quite understand how it worked. It’s so different from anything I know 😅
@@Projectsweden 480 days in total but only 390 paid with 80% the other 90 only paid at a fixed and low rate.
but rember her in swerden you not allowed to do pluming or electrician work if you not have licens that is need her in sweden, swedish law on it
Hej! Menar du Maxburger? De är läker! Vi har inte varit på bastardsburger än. Är de goda? 😋
Maxburger är läcker. Bastard burger är god oxå
so it's back to the future 😉 Great when you get paid to fly 🤣
Something like that 😂
It is unfortunately forbidden to burn at home these days. A new law that you must leave everything for recycling Branches etc except firewood.
An EU law.
Yes we know. Luckily we had quite a bit firewood left from the winter
VA???? när kom den lagen?? 😱🤗
I won't let an EU law stop me from having a lil bonfire on valborg. It's not like the low number of cops that police one of Norrlands gigantic police districts has time to enforce this law, they are too busy policing the underage drinking that goes on during Valborg. And if i was really unlucky and cops for some reason saw my bonfire they would just tell me to extinguish the fire and inform about the law as an warning. Perhaps they would charge me if their warning was ignored though.
Im swedish, have lived here in north sweden all my 50+ life, and HATE it.
Do not indulge in dreams of having what you have not but reckon up the chief of the blessings you do possess, and then thankfully think of how you would crave for them if they were not yours.

@@Projectsweden Me, I've lived in Karlsborg, Kalix and Nyborg, all around the mouth of the Kalix river in my 62 years, and I will not change it for the world! The differens in climate and the different sun hours does not matter to me, I work shifts at the Pulp and Paper plant near you and working nights or sleeping during the days have never bothered me. I have a very dark roller curtain that is very opaque (sp?) it blinds the sun during summer and when I need to sleep daytime. The snow got to hard for me to shovel a couple of years ago so I bought a snowthrower. There is one thing I don't like about this place, that is the mosquitos, but that's all. Ha en utmärkt sommar och hoppas får börja jobba snart. we have a generation swap coming up at the pulp and paper plant and there will be more personel needed there in the next couple of years, and Derrick is still young! :)
1 years to C1? Jeeeeez! Forget working as a nurse, you should sell a "course" on how to learn a language so fast! Joking joking dont even be like those scammy youtubers with courses.
Haha your comment made my day! 😂 god no NEVER any scammy courses 🙂
Truely impressive to learn that fast though! Also every time I see a course I cringe and feel bad for all the people that gets scammed, but the sad reality is it makes money for the creator! Glad you liked the sarcasm though ;) Keep it up guys! 🙌
We will 🙌🏻
