I have no idea why I find it sooooo interesting and exciting seeing foreigners moving here and starting a new life here! You guys are a PERFECT example of how its done. Learning the language, culture and overall curious of the country. I am looking forward to follow your journey!!
you are a brave couple... moving to northern sweden! My wife moved to me in southern sweden about 24 year ago from Long beach California, and the things about health care and child care was big reasons. she had a well paid job in los angeles as a teacher but she was quite stressed out by long commute, not by miles but by hour, and she got a job actually before she came for living. we had a long term (expensive) long distance relation for 3 years.
It’s so nice to hear different (yet quite similar) stories! It definitely takes courage to take such a big step to move countries but it’s so worth it! Kind regards from the North 🇸🇪💙
Hi, It was cool to hear about how you met. Gaming has been a big part of my life, I work as a Level Designer and make maps for FPS games. So hearing that you met through a game warms my heart. Welcome to Sweden, I hope you will enjoy yourself.
That is awesome! I actually studied game design when I got out of highschool. I love creating & designing, but the programming headaches were real 😅 after a year of doing that i decided to switch over to healthcare.. i figured that’s a guaranteed job for life. I Always wanted to do something creative besides that though. Now I get to put my creativity in this channel :) I hope you enjoy our journey 🇸🇪
Välkommen till byn! My husband moved here to Kalix about 9 years ago and he's still learning Swedish! xD I guess it's a bit harder to actually learn the language because everyone keeps switching over to English to be nice :D I can't wait to see how the house is coming along! :)
Oh yes that is a real problem! Haha every time we went to sweden I was super excited to try out and practice my newly learned Swedish. And every time people would switch over to english 😬 no offense they were trying to be helpful, but the struggle was real 😅
Oh awesome! I looked up your band y’all rock! 🤠 Sweden definitely loves its summer festivals. ☀️ They are all over the place. Derrick is from Houston btw :)
Really enjoyed hearing your story and looking forward to seeing your house renovation. I visited Sweden 2017 and saw some houses like yours from the train - the same colour too, and that house type looked to be a traditional Swedish house, beautifully designed. It's just wonderful to see your house and see what the interior looks like, I have always wondered. Wishing you all the best and many thanks.
I am glad to hear you are enjoying our story 😊 there are many old houses here in sweden, also many abandoned ones. It’s Such a pity to see them go to waste! Fixing it has been a quite a challenge so far but it will all be worth it 👌

I would love to own a boat and explore the Archipelago with it 🤩 haha I have been talking about ‘my boat’ ever-since we planned to move to sweden. Who knows, maybe the channel kicks off one day and I would be able to afford one. Until then it’s good to have dreams 😊🚤

The differens in climate and the different sun hours does not matter to me, I work shifts at the Pulp and Paper plant near you and working nights or sleeping during the days have never bothered me. I have a very dark roller curtain that is very opaque (sp?) it blinds the sun during summer and when I need to sleep daytime. It is unfortunately forbidden to burn at home these days. A new law that you must leave everything for recycling Branches etc except firewood. An EU law.
@@AngelicaGustafsson ett tips är att läsa lite nyhetstidningar/radio/tv. Det har varit ett o annat inslag om det i bra tag nu. Men nu är det en gammal nyhet så det sägs inte så mycket längre
I won't let an EU law stop me from having a lil bonfire on valborg. It's not like the low number of cops that police one of Norrlands gigantic police districts has time to enforce this law, they are too busy policing the underage drinking that goes on during Valborg. And if i was really unlucky and cops for some reason saw my bonfire they would just tell me to extinguish the fire and inform about the law as an warning. Perhaps they would charge me if their warning was ignored though.

Är det hon som byggdes huset med sin man? 😊
1 years to C1? Jeeeeez! Forget working as a nurse, you should sell a "course" on how to learn a language so fast! Joking joking dont even be like those scammy youtubers with courses.
Haha your comment made my day! 😂 god no NEVER any scammy courses 🙂
Truely impressive to learn that fast though! Also every time I see a course I cringe and feel bad for all the people that gets scammed, but the sad reality is it makes money for the creator! Glad you liked the sarcasm though ;) Keep it up guys! 🙌
We will 🙌🏻
Im swedish, have lived here in north sweden all my 50+ life, and HATE it.
Do not indulge in dreams of having what you have not but reckon up the chief of the blessings you do possess, and then thankfully think of how you would crave for them if they were not yours.

@@Projectsweden Me, I've lived in Karlsborg, Kalix and Nyborg, all around the mouth of the Kalix river in my 62 years, and I will not change it for the world! The snow got to hard for me to shovel a couple of years ago so I bought a snowthrower. There is one thing I don't like about this place, that is the mosquitos, but that's all. Ha en utmärkt sommar och hoppas får börja jobba snart. we have a generation swap coming up at the pulp and paper plant and there will be more personel needed there in the next couple of years, and Derrick is still young! :)
Sweden is a buitiful contry, but they have a LOOOOOOT of "red tape".
Yeah, that’s why we moved far away from the big cities 🏙️
It is unfortunately forbidden to burn at home these days. A new law that you must leave everything for recycling Branches etc except firewood.
An EU law.
Yes we know. Luckily we had quite a bit firewood left from the winter
VA???? när kom den lagen?? 😱🤗
