I think despite cosmetic appearances, you have yourselves a little gem of a house... if you dare, try thinking about renovating kitchen bathroom and one other room to both live and sleep in... to start. Until you have lived all four seasons in Sweden at least once, you won't make sense of why they built their houses the way the did... - and what the little outhouses are for.. they're not just wood sheds with a bedroom for the gardener! Insulation, but maybe you don't have to replace windows... just renovate them during the summer and put a layer of smart glass on them... You're so brave, you deserve all the luck in the world with this place
P.S coming from Switzerland in, look at "upstairs, loft rooms" ... beds built in, often small and more for just sleeping or clothes storage... everything serious happens downstairs in the living/ dining/ work areas
Me being Dutch and my husband being an American contractor we have different ideas for this old house. We plan to bring it up to modern standard but try to retain as much of the old charm as possible by reusing and recycling the original materials back into the home.
I just found your channel and I am subscribing! I think it’s great that you want to come and live in the north of Sweden! I really hope you also have time to explore! My father was born close to Luleå and I still have relatives there. I live i Stockholm but I enjoy watching your renovation and get som glimpses from the north of Sweden. And so good that you eventually can get a job at the hospital, I know it is not easy to find doctors and qualified staff working at the hospital so far north in Sweden. So you are very welcome!! It will be fun to follow your work and your journey to your new life in the north!!
I am glad to hear that you found us! And thank you for your kind words :) Yes we are very short staffed in the North. I was even asked to go to a radiology congress in Germany earlier this year to recruit radiologists and x-ray nurses, which was a great opportunity for me to share my enthusiasm about moving up North! There are some nurses that will actually move to Sweden now so that is great! Hopefully more will follow 😊
Isn't the window upstairs above the entrance upside down?
Hi! What part of the video are you talking about? The window above the stairs is a little smaller than all the other ones but it is not upside down. They are pretty straight forward and only open one way (the handle is at the bottom)
@@Projectsweden 18:10 My bad, I had been awake for too long watching your videos, I see now that the handle is on the outside and the window have been flipped. It just looked weird with the big gap upwards! Same with the window on the left I just noticed!
They flip outwards and they still need trim. It’ll look better soon! We are working on replacing the siding right now

Find a house and make a bank transfer.. i an an EU citizen which gives Derrick and I the right to live here. For an American that wants to move to Sweden you would have to go through the motions with the Swedish embassy in the USA . We found the house on a website called Hemnet.

hey! ja, in einigen der vorherigen Videos gibt es eine Hausführung, der heißt: Ich habe ein verlassenes Haus in Nordschweden gekauft! In Folge 1 ua-cam.com/video/saN3mNdJerA/v-deo.html das war bevor wir mit der Renovierung begonnen haben. Im Moment sieht es unten wie auf einer Baustelle aus. Daran werden wir im Winter weiter arbeiten. 😊

I can't get over how excellently both of you speak English! Your accents are SO subtle and I'm listening for grammar mistakes and you guys just aren't making any--it's so impressive! You sound near native and your husband sounds native, to my ears. I always think of my Swedish friends as speaking really impressive English (and they do), but if everyone in Switzerland is as English-fluent as you guys are (I've never been), then WOW! Cute hedgehog...hope it doesn't invade your crawlspace. Will the purchase of a snow thrower to clear the driveway and make paths to the woodshed be in your future? Is PEX plumbing commonly used in Sweden?
Hi! We like our little hedgehog too. We did buy a snow thrower just before winter. PEX is not as common as it should be here as far as we have seen but it is what we will be using for our new plumbing though we have to order most of the fittings from the the US Amazon store.
