The level of detail in that BMW RS54 Rennsports (Keiichi's bike) is outstanding !!! Better than in the 2005 series, that's what I love about classic anime so much!!!
_For those who may be curious, since this upload has only the kanji credits…_ The English dub was recorded in 1996 at Coastal Studios in Wilmington, North Carolina. Scott Houle was the director and scriptwriter (and voiced Ohshima). CAST: Scott Simpson voiced Keiichi and Juliet Cesario voiced Belldandy, Amanda Spivey voiced Megumi, Mark Matney voiced Tamiya, Sean P. O'Connell voiced Otaki. In later episodes Urd was voiced by Lanelle Markgraf, Skuld was voiced by Pamela Weidner, and Belinda Bizick voiced Sayoko. FUN FACT 1: Scott and Juliet were married at the time, which gives their performance an authenticity even the Japanese original lacks (not to knock Masami Kikuchi & Kikuko Inoue, who are of course fantastic). FUN FACT 2: The way dubbing normally works, actors only get the script when they come in to record, and they record alone because it's faster that way. For _this_ dub, Juliet & Scott got the script ahead of time so they could rehearse it and tweak lines. Also, they actually recorded two scenes together - the first is in this episode: the motorcycle scene; that part where they're talking over each other is legit. The second is in OAV3, where Bell is serving K1 & Skuld cheesecake. FUN FACT 3: 11 years later, Juliet Cesario would play Peorth in the dub of the TV series. There's a scene where Peorth does a Belldandy impression. Knowing this OAV and dub exists makes it _much_ funnier. FUN FACT 4: In 2002, Juliet landed the role of Miyuki, one of the leads in _You're Under Arrest_, another show from AMG's creator Kosuke Fujishima. She is on record as loving playing Belldandy, but _adoring_ Miyuki. FUN FACT 5: Both the 2001 & 2006 DVD releases (I own the latter) come with commentary for all five episodes. Towards the end, Scott starts MST'ing everything and dropping _Star Trek_ references (Juliet was apparently an extra on TNG and/or DS9).
Soufriere I have a question for you, since you seem to know a lot of info on the series. Why is belldandy's goddess clothes so different in this (and the tv anime) than in chapter one of the manga (i27.mangareader.net/ah-my-goddess/1/ah-my-goddess-239627.jpg)? I was always wondering it and I couldn't find out online. Anyway, thanks for the fun facts and info!
irategamersucks123 I can't give a definitive answer - only Fujishima-sensei could - but here's my guess: Fujishima started AMG in 1988. This first OAV episode was made in 1993. His art style changed a LOT over those five years, including clothes. He has a history of ditching his earliest designs for something simpler or prettier. Every time AMG was animated, they used his then-current style.
Soufriere Thanks! I knew the later parts of the manga were different art, I didn't think the art changed that much by 1993 (I recently read the entire manga, so going through it, I didn't pay attention to the dates of the chapters). Anyway, thanks a lot, you had a bunch of funfacts I didn't realize (like I knew Juliet Cesario did belldandy's voice in this, but I hadn't realized she did peorth in flights of fancy. I had to go back to hear the belldandy impression).
Soufriere I always have a question about the cloths, if you don't mind (sorry if this is a bother, google doesn't always have the answers) but do you happen to know why they are blue in this ep but thy r red in the ep 5?
Bruce Wayne I've wondered that too. Probably just a continuity error, or director Gohda changed his mind. That can happen when it takes over 2½ years between the first and last episode.
This is crazy. I never knew one of my favorite little anime had a predecessor series made in the 90s. Its like watching a reboot...from the PAST! Its fun to see what differences the two have.
MrPsycoSilver I need to rewatch it, really. It's been a couple of years since I first saw it in 2013 or 2014, and it's one of my favorites. I want to see if it holds up, or if I'm just giving it an edge since it was the first anime I watched.
Well, for those of us who grew up (in my case not exactly even that, since I was already in my mid 20s when this OVA came out) with this, we do love this more than the series.
I know the newer version looks too new, but this is original, a beautiful work of art, and hey feel free to check out my Gundam Fight Compilation 2 okay, thanks
This takes me back to high school freshman year. I started reading OMG back when Dark Horse Comics released the books front to back instead of the traditional back to front style. They were so much fun to read and see how the artist style changed over the course of time. I wished this was released as a regular series instead of an collection of OVA episodes. I know there's AMG, but i would much rather have this. But make no mistake, i did enjoy watching AMG. The intro songs were so good. Especially season 2 with the bagpipes.
this is one amazing story which I love so much and I thank so much to AIC productions and the original person who created all these characters and who agreed to make these OVAS thank you very much
I have never seen the very first...first episode episode until now. I grew up with Robotech and etc.. But only saw the revised Ah My Goddess anime. This was a treat.
I appreciate the concept of this version much more than the newer one. I began watching the newer series and thought it was a bit ridiculous and quite unentertaining, but the OVA is much better in almost every way
(⸝⸝⸝^ヮ^⸝⸝⸝)♡ Aww I love the animation, design & style of this OVA way more than of the actual anime series, it looks amazing & it has that 90’s anime vibe to it which I love :) And the voices of the two main characters are great, not bad at all ^^
I agree that intimacy should definitely have some real love behind it. And as we watch the series, we see it truly develop between Keiichi and Belldandy. It feels right and I like watching them be that way, rather than something cheap and tawdry.
You know, I watched this one first before I started the newer one, but coming back to this now after seeing the full 2 seasons, I feel that this one is strange to me now. :D
Raspberry Fury well, she had just granted a wish then saved the bike. Fell asleep then restored the temple. I assume the wish granting used a ton of mana and the sleep refilled her.
this is a awesome amine =) wish it came on where i lived anyways 2 dislikes are from people who probaly knew the show and choose to dis like it i dont understand why a dislike bar people should go to videos they like . bell dandy she true goddess and a sweetheart =)
well... from what I remember the anime was made in the 1980's but was scrapped for some other project, but they must of uncovered it and made a new and more modern version
Most beautiful form of the "OMG!" franchise (FAR better than the animé or manga), and one of the most beautiful cartoons, most beautiful ANYTHING, ever. Full stop.
The problem of this series is the continuity because even the author himself always have additional ideas he wants to put in the story even though the manga has been published. And all of these anime versions including this one and the TV version have problems in continuity
this show is awesome but i think it dumb when people look up videos they hate and dislike it to me there shouldnt be a dislike bar people should go to videos they like no ones they wanna start drama or whatever anyways this is such a amazing show
Little known fact: Juliette Cesario who voices Belldandy here also voiced Peorth in the dubbed version of both seasons of the Ah Megami-sama anime series.
That's right. Juliet said that as the years went by from the OVA series to the TV series, she thought that as she matured that she should take on a different character. That's why she played Peorth instead of reprising her role as Belldandy.
crpsaiyan a real shame too, i always loved her voice... while i love the series...the ova explains sooooo much more about their love! how they met as children, how the gods were afraid of their love... and in th e manga... when they finally do kiss... the galaxy explodes... i love ah my goddess.,
William Kendrick I agree. I liked Juliet Cesario better than the other English dubbed Belldandys. Another bit that was special was that Scott Simpson (Keiichi) and Juliet Cesario were a couple from the very get go before they took on this project, which made the romance more believable. :)
crpsaiyan yep. throw in the fact belldandy had been watching keiichi for her whole life (ever since they were kids), and you suddenly understand why bell gets downright SCARY when you mess with her man! lol. her voice acting was spot on, fit the mood of the anime, and the character in question perfectly... and if you didn't notice... it was epic when peorth actually pretended like she was belldandy.. it... it was perfect! lol
I agree. it was shown in the manga that she was watching over him but the manga never (as far as i can recall) ever shown them meeting as kids like in the original OVA. And yes, I recall that - it was perfect ;)
the one thing i hate: the whole i want you to be my girlfriend forever. i hate that part and that part alone out of everything. i'm glad in the series they change this to be by my side forever....
You gotta remember though, Keiichi thought it was a joke and was somewhat kidding at the time being oblivious to real situation at hand, so really you gotta cut the series some slack for that
well as i read the manga i learned things i didn't realize at the time... this is a spoiler, so i'm gonna give you the option to just let this pass.. or if you're interested.. click read more ok so basically belldandy had been the goddess basically watching over him for a very long time.... and had apparently loved him from day one, having seen all his goodness. so when it was time to let a wish thru... bell's sister urd kinda... just let it go... since it was up to her as to WHO went.. she sent belldandy.. and yes, she played shipper... turns out.. the system force had been supressing his libido, which urd was constantly trying to overturn... much to the dismay of bell's dad. at the end of it tho, they had no choice, because keiichi is SMART.. you have to read dat manga man.. he's a boss, lol.
If you ask me, the OVA *did* go beyond "Will They Or Won't They?" I always felt the manga was trying too hard, with the character exaggerations, more supernatural-themed arcs (like the Lorelei), and Fujishima having Keiichi leave Nekomi Tech. I would've liked to see the series to always have been set at the time Keiichi was attending college, with his graduation coinciding with his first kiss (or perhaps his proposal to!) Belldandy. Sort of a classic sitcom feel to it.
The boy was hungry and just wanted some Chinese food, and instead got a Goddess, maybe there could have been a compromise like a salad and a bottle of Green Goddess salad dressing! I liked what he wished for, you!!! (PS it is different from the Netflix episodes I watched but this is an OVA version, she's still a sweetheart though!)
I want to add these videos: OVA 1 Moonlight and cherry blossoms OVA 2 Midnight summer dream OVA 3 Burning heart OVA 4 Evergreen holy night and OVA 5 For the love of a goddess with your permission of course
The level of detail in that BMW RS54 Rennsports (Keiichi's bike) is outstanding !!! Better than in the 2005 series, that's what I love about classic anime so much!!!
omg this makes me so nostalgic. i used to have these on vhs when i was a kid. i love japanese early 90s aesthetics sooo much.
same
I Love watching these OVAs series their drawings are literally so beautiful made!

UA-cam: You want dis?
Me: AW HECK YEAH MY FIRST ANIME!
a trick: you can watch movies on kaldroStream. I've been using them for watching loads of movies recently.
@Bruno Duncan Yea, have been watching on kaldroStream for since november myself =)
I'm 14 and female, but I STILL love this show. ^^"
I was raised hearing Belldandy's voice, she's my childhood heroine (*^^*)
This comment you wrote 9 years ago ..feels so nostalgic to me ..
Just hoping you'd see my comment ..and be remineded of this memory as well ..
@@aman_chauhan6464 hello, I see ur comment, I remember watching this show when I was 8. I loved it
This is crazy. I never knew one of my favorite little anime had a predecessor series made in the 90s. Its like watching a reboot...from the PAST! Its fun to see what differences the two have.
+MrPsycoSilver Yeah, I agree! This one was actually pretty fun, on the whole, although I confess that I liked the full series better.
Yeah I'm with you on that.It doesnt qiute pull on my lovey dovey strings like full run does.
MrPsycoSilver
I need to rewatch it, really. It's been a couple of years since I first saw it in 2013 or 2014, and it's one of my favorites. I want to see if it holds up, or if I'm just giving it an edge since it was the first anime I watched.

Milliardo5, I agree, I honestly just wish something so great never had to come to an end.
so many teenage memories on this anime
I Love this first version of Ah! My Goddess, wish they made more of this drawing looks better.
True, the animation is so authentic and well drawn looks so much better, peace✌🏻️
I saw the new version of Ah! My Goddess, I don't like much of the drawings compared to the OVA.
I know the newer version looks too new, but this is original, a beautiful work of art, and hey feel free to check out my
Gundam Fight Compilation 2 okay, thanks
Oh yeah in that first reply I was talking about this ova, not the new one, the ova is better
If you read the manga, you will see the author's drawing style changing...that's why. I also personally like the old drawing better.

I really love this show
Me too.
12:14 Give it up to Belldandy for being the world's first GPS
Siri has nothing on her or Google Maps
Kenshiro is the manliest of men.. Belldandy is what we call the perfect female...
fgotoman kenshiro being the manliest? Lmao 😂
Try escanor from seven deadly sins
This video was amazing as far as OVA's go. In the regular series I wish it explained more about the angels.
Oh this brings back so many memories...
It's still one of my top 5 anime.
i think you look great?!! man! no guy would said that if she was so beautiful and a Goddess for a fact!! damn!
I have never seen the very first...first episode episode until now. I grew up with Robotech and etc.. But only saw the revised Ah My Goddess anime. This was a treat.
Back when anime was hand-drawn. Keiichi's voice actor is a lot better than the 2005 series too!
Given the way Belldandy just floats in the air and the way she's dressed, she reminds me of the depictions of the tennyo.
25:45 A beautiful music that always comes to mind when spring comes.
isquare ikim it makes me so sad and nostalgic I miss watching this in the summer
I appreciate the concept of this version much more than the newer one. I began watching the newer series and thought it was a bit ridiculous and quite unentertaining, but the OVA is much better in almost every way
Doesnt matter which version, When Kei starts dialing I get goosebumps. Such a fantastic series!
That one second of skuld under an umbrella is impressive.
I Love Bell Dandy she is a amazing goddess and a kindhearted friend =)
2012... im still in love with Belldandy
(⸝⸝⸝^ヮ^⸝⸝⸝)♡ Aww I love the animation, design & style of this OVA way more than of the actual anime series, it looks amazing & it has that 90’s anime vibe to it which I love :) And the voices of the two main characters are great, not bad at all ^^
God I love this series. 1 of my all-time favorite animes!
I started to watch this series sometime ago and lost track of it
" Thank You " for the upload .
I'm a hopeless romantic I love both of them new and old
I remember watching this when I was 11. A decade has past, and the nostalgia kicks in. ;3;
Now you can watch this when youre 30!
my favorite kind of anime brings back memories.
i’m liking the ova as much as 2005 series, and this is just the first episode. i love ah my goddess.
Hello, first ever childhood OVA of an anime!
I gotta say, I like the music they added during the episode
I rewatch it after 6 years later and why I'm crying 🙂🫠
I don't know why but I think I find this OVA version of a little better. The characters aren't half bad looking after all.
I love this show so much I wish they came out with a third season. But also where did the blanket come from.
I agree that intimacy should definitely have some real love behind it. And as we watch the series, we see it truly develop between Keiichi and Belldandy. It feels right and I like watching them be that way, rather than something cheap and tawdry.
90's anime music is so good
You know, I watched this one first before I started the newer one, but coming back to this now after seeing the full 2 seasons, I feel that this one is strange to me now. :D
Ah my goddess belladundy!! I love you so much 😍😍😍
This intro always felt like a superhero intro.
You'll find your own Belldandy someday. :)
don't give me hope😭😭
Say sike xD
😭😭do u really think so?
I found mine ❤
for belldandy its more mana consuming when trying to fly the bike for a second than restoring the temple and healing keichi....
Raspberry Fury well, she had just granted a wish then saved the bike. Fell asleep then restored the temple.
I assume the wish granting used a ton of mana and the sleep refilled her.
who ever dis like must not amines cause this is one of the best amine i seen =)
The OVA is more then 10 years older then the tv show.
"Get your butt over here and have a bruskie!" Lol my favorite part
The animation of this ova is only reflecting the art style of the manga at the time same goes for the 2001 movie and 2005 series as well.
There was only 1 season for the OVA episodes, & they premiered in 1993 (in Japan) & 1995 (in America).
Before there was Waze, there was Belldandy.
I love it! thank you for posting these ^-^
the voice these on characters sounds great
OMG childhood reminiscence overload!
this is a awesome amine =) wish it came on where i lived anyways 2 dislikes are from people who probaly knew the show and choose to dis like it i dont understand why a dislike bar people should go to videos they like . bell dandy she true goddess and a sweetheart =)
pure n perfect 👌 loved it!
i love this version better more emotional to bad they ended the series
i wish i could have goddess number too...moshi moshi
this show is awesome =) and the goddess is a sweetheart =)
this is an interesting change of pace compared to how the anime was in 2005 I never seen this before
finally he hugged her
I heard someone say yoooo in the background of a scene 🤣
The animation is beautiful to look at
hold up: she's a goddess, probably means she's way older than him. he's 1 lucky guy
In the 2 season version Ah My Goddess, and Flights of Fancy they some evolved story elements from this one.
For a 90s English dub, the line delivery is actually pretty good
ah my goddess ova i think is the best one..
Ah, nothing like the old times... I'm SUPER HAPPY!!! ^___^
well... from what I remember the anime was made in the 1980's but was scrapped for some other project, but they must of uncovered it and made a new and more modern version
Carefully word those wishes. Girlfriend forever.
how come my take out calls end like this? Then I start gettingtelemarketers calling me about car insurance and home insurance.
This kind of drawing make me want to hug belldandy
I saw the series on Netflix and I like both, but the OVA is awesome.
So sweet❤ love it Everytime
Man this bring backs memories!
this was one of my early anime a friend told me about the tapes at the local video store

such a good ova.
this show is awesome but i think it dumb when people look up videos they hate and dislike it to me there shouldnt be a dislike bar people should go to videos they like no ones they wanna start drama or whatever anyways this is such a amazing show
In the original, Belledandy sings as she heals the temple. More beautiful. (Ah! My Goddes epi 3 {even this is a remake of the first one. ] )

23:44 Look at belldandy's eyes
That guy wearing sunglasses driving the car looks a ton like Aptom from Guyver
I love The new and old
I AM SHOOK!!
Wow, she's a Goddess and a GPS system
The boy was hungry and just wanted some Chinese food, and instead got a Goddess, maybe there could have been a compromise like a salad and a bottle of Green Goddess salad dressing!
I liked what he wished for, you!!! (PS it is different from the Netflix episodes I watched but this is an OVA version, she's still a sweetheart though!)
I have misbehaved, Courtney Springer.
wow this is like abridged series mixed with an anime series both combined i get ya now
I wish that they make more episode of this anime.
the drawing ist love
I want to add these videos: OVA 1 Moonlight and cherry blossoms OVA 2 Midnight summer dream OVA 3 Burning heart OVA 4 Evergreen holy night and OVA 5 For the love of a goddess with your permission of course
this was the first anime DVD I ever bought :3
Paid frikking 30 euro for 3 eps xD
Anime wasnt as big then as it is now I guess :3
the wish was diferent than the other ah my goddess
+Hart Hezron Vargas The translation is way off too, in the Japanese version he says "I Wish I had a girlfriend who was as beautiful as you!"
Hey guys where is the monk that lives in the temple
This probably forgot to add him in.
"I want you to be my girlfriend, FOREVER!" (Cue reverb)
Such stupid wish though so they will remain dating forever and not married
It looks so cool at ''7.13''
