Additional: Remember when Tamahome kissed Miaka's forehead on the episode 2? And then there's red light? It's Suzaku's power. Since Suzaku is the God of Love, its was explained in the OVA 2 by Keisuke that Suzaku's power is love. It can be that any acts of love can activate his power. So maybe when Miaka's worrying about Yui's whereabouts, Tamahome kissed her to wipe her tears away, Suzaku's power was activated and Miaka was comforted by Suzaku by showing him briefly that Yui was able to return to the real world safely. For her to not worry anymore. That's why after Suzaku showed her that, there's a red feather after. Which means it's the power of Suzaku comforting the Lady Miaka.
Its been a year since I've watched this. I chose a random episode and as soon as I hear the theme song I burst into tears but as soon as I see Noriko I cry even harder!
Soi is in love with Nakago because he rescued her, when she was twelve and is one of his most devoted followers. While aware that her love was unrequited and he was only using her to recover and heighten his chi, Soi nevertheless continues to serve him faithfully to the full extent of her abilities. She puts herself between Nakago and Tasuki's sword, an act she pays for with her life despite his earlier actions and words. Interestinly enough, Nakago carries her dead body with him until he passes from the world of the book into the Real World. In the manga, she is seen again by Nakago in "paradise," alongside his mother when he dies.
I love how the Suzaku Seven are still strong-willed even though the Beast God Suzaku has been sealed away. Oh well, I guess that is really their own true power combined with the power of their friendship and love.
This is like my third or fourth time rewatching this anime ever since I found it in middle school, and every time I rewatch I understand the characters a little bit better. I get that "Yui went through a lot" or whatever, but Miaka has gone through worse at this point, all because of Yui. Even if she was raped, (which she wasn't, she just THINKS she was) that still never made it Miaka's fault. What could another middle school girl do in that situation to help? Even during the OVAs I still hated Yui because I couldn't forget what a fucking bitch she was to Miaka. For no good reason, in my opinion.
Even if switched, I don't think Miaka would ever have done what Yui did. What happened to Yui was horrible, yes, even though it didn't actually happen. But she believes it did, and that does leaves emotional scarring and trauma. But like Kimmy Doane said, in what world was that Miaka's fault? She had zero control in that event. It doesn't take a genius to connect those dots. I don't think turning on a loved one like Yui does is ever justifiable. It's wrong, selfish, immature and heartless. It takes a bigger person to look at the whole picture. I would be hurt too when Yui over hears her suppose best friend came back to that world just for a guy she liked (even though it was just a miscommunication and she couldn't have heard at a worse time). I can both understand and relate to that, it's a terrible feeling to be someone's second choice, and to nolonger feel important. But I would never wish half the things Yui does on Miaka. How many Seiryu have attempted rape on Miaka now? Nakago, Tomo, and Suboshi. And not once does Miaka blame Yui for that, or for any of the other hardships she endures. Miaka attempted to take her own life too by drowning in that lake. You could definitely argue that happened because of Yui's hand in the events that lead to that point. She let Miaka's love, Tamahome, break her arm and call her disgusting, and turned him against Miaka (Not to mention Yui tried to seduce him so she could take him for herself). That kind of heartbreak is very real and could destroy someone. It's one of the worst kinds of pain on this planet in my opinion. I've gone through that, I would never wish that on someone. The preceding episodes after that may seem dramatic but I've been there. You say Yui didn't have anyone around that cared about her, and that may partially true, but Suboshi claims to love her, as well Nakago. Nakago tells her he loves her, and she believes him. He obviously manipulated her, but I would never let some strange guy with questionable motives turn me against someone I love. When you love someone, you want them to be happy. That's what I genuinely believe. Yui doesn't love Miaka. Miaka loves Yui though, she proves that again and again. Look at everything Yui has done to her, and yet she still fights for her best friend. And that is why Yui is despicable and heartless. I can never like or forgive a person like that.
I agree... since watching this the last time, I spent 7 years being sexually abused and raped... and even after therapy I still blame myself to some degree cuz there were other victims, but getting off point here... My main point is the one I blame is the man who did those things to me...

Poor Soi. She fights the Suzaku warriors for two reasons, even though she isn't fully evil; she fights for her faithfulness for Nakago and for her land.
This is the fourth time that I replay fushigi yuugi from how much I love it It is awesome and sometimes sad Other times happy I really love the character especially Taski his so cool and funny I would be so great full to the author of this story
Fact: This moment right here. Because of Lady Yui's second wish, Lady Miaka can never go back to the Universe of the Four Gods using the book as the gateway. That's why in the first and second OVA, there was a scroll (which I think was used on the last episode of this Season 2 of Fushigi Yuugi Original Series. In other words, Chiriko's scroll that was given by Taitsukun during the Season 1 when they tried summoning Suzaku), that's why Miaka was able to go back to the Universe of the Four Gods using that scroll. But during OVA 3, since Tenkou (who's dwelling on the scroll) has been sealed away by the Four Gods, the scroll I think vanished as well. So the Universe of the Four Gods gateway is the book again. And Miaka wasn't able to go there using that same book again because of Yui's second wish. That's why there's Mayo, the false priestess. But since Miaka is prudent and gracious, she considered her as her representative. Since she cannot go to the book anymore (due to the reason as well of being married and pregnant, which loses her right as a virgin priestess)
I love this anime as well. It is one of my few favorite animes and I'm probably a little too young to be watching this, but it's a long story of how I've actually came to be watching this and reading the mangas as week
Please don't hate her. Yes, I too felt that very thing you are feeling, but I learned to understand her. Yui is a good person inside, but her jealousy and th difficult experineces she had when she came back to the universe of the four gods confused her and controled her actions. She does still care for Miaka, like any friend should, even during all of those times. I thank you for taking your time and consideration into this message. I do hope this may have changed your opinion about her.
Even ordinary, the Suzaku Seven are cutting the Seiryu Seven down-HA! At least they still have sharp-shooting skills (even though Tasuki thought he missed-but he didn't; Soi just got in the way).

I genuinely believe that Soi was not an evil person, she was the least evil Seiryuu along with Amiboshi and she never had anything against the Suzako’s as well, she even spared Miaka and admired her courage I know that many people sympathize with Soi as well, she is a very tragic figure As much as I love the Seriyuu gang and feel sorry for what they been through and their hard life, all of them got the ending they deserve as a result of their actions The only Seriyuu who truly didn’t deserve their ending is Soi in my opinion, her ending was very harsh and it’s so sad how Nakago never realized his feelings for her sooner I feel sorry for both of them The only seiryuu warrior that I never really cared about and felt no emotions to what so ever is Miboshi, he’s also my least favorite character in this whole anime and he’s too creepy as well I even felt slight sympathy for Ashitare for how Nakago treated him over Miboshi
I agree with all this but I think Nakago deserved to live and get a second chance. I’d have loved a spin-off series where he becomes like Xena Warrior Princess and uses his skills for good to make up for his “sins”. Btw you probably know by now but Miboshi was actually a good person at first and hot as heck! And the funny thing is I always suspected that years and years ago before the Byakko story he’s in came out.

@@charlottestarlet7371 Exactly, the Seriyuu team definitely deserves a second chance and they have much more tragic backstories than the suzako in my opinion Yui also cared about them and kept seeing them in her dreams (she mentioned that in the last chapter of the manga) Nakago is watase favorite character so it would be so nice to see a story from Nakago and the seryuu point of view I think that the anime came out before the novels (I’m not sure) but I wish that the anime had more in depth backstories for the characters instead of showing bits of them and giving so much screen time to the Tamahome/Miaka romance

I didn’t read translations of all of them but I read summaries. They seem like fanfics to me and I wasn’t surprised to find out Watase didn’t write them, though she did illustrate them.

Please don't hate her. Yes, I too felt that very thing you are feeling, but I learned to understand her. Yui is a good person inside, but her jealousy and th difficult experineces she had when she came back to the universe of the four gods confused her and controled her actions. She does still care for Miaka, like any friend should, even during all of those times.

Even ordinary, the Suzaku Seven are cutting the Seiryu Seven down-HA! At least they still have sharp-shooting skills (even though Tasuki thought he missed-but he didn't; Soi just got in the way).

I genuinely believe that Soi was not an evil person, she was the least evil Seiryuu along with Amiboshi and she never had anything against the Suzako’s as well, she even spared Miaka and admired her courage
I know that many people sympathize with Soi as well, she is a very tragic figure
As much as I love the Seriyuu gang and feel sorry for what they been through and their hard life, all of them got the ending they deserve as a result of their actions
The only Seriyuu who truly didn’t deserve their ending is Soi in my opinion, her ending was very harsh and it’s so sad how Nakago never realized his feelings for her sooner
I feel sorry for both of them
The only seiryuu warrior that I never really cared about and felt no emotions to what so ever is Miboshi, he’s also my least favorite character in this whole anime and he’s too creepy as well
I even felt slight sympathy for Ashitare for how Nakago treated him over Miboshi
I agree with all this but I think Nakago deserved to live and get a second chance. I’d have loved a spin-off series where he becomes like Xena Warrior Princess and uses his skills for good to make up for his “sins”.
Btw you probably know by now but Miboshi was actually a good person at first and hot as heck! And the funny thing is I always suspected that years and years ago before the Byakko story he’s in came out.

The death of the seriyuu members was actually tragic because none of them were revived but the death of the suzako warriors was all a waste because all of them came back to life anyway 😂

But I would love to see Nakago at the center of a story redeeming himself by going around doing good, get a sidekick that shows him the positive side of life, like Xena did…he could definitely carry his own show.
I wish Warsaw had continued FY centered around him over part 2 of the series which wasn’t that great imo.

Yui also cared about them and kept seeing them in her dreams (she mentioned that in the last chapter of the manga)
Nakago is watase favorite character so it would be so nice to see a story from Nakago and the seryuu point of view
I think that the anime came out before the novels (I’m not sure) but I wish that the anime had more in depth backstories for the characters instead of showing bits of them and giving so much screen time to the Tamahome/Miaka romance
@@azliee9865 Agreed. I couldn’t root for the Seiryu to lose because I knew about their backstories before I read the manga/watched the anime.
I don’t care too much for the light novels. I didn’t read translations of all of them but I read summaries. They seem like fanfics to me and I wasn’t surprised to find out Watase didn’t write them, though she did illustrate them.
