You left out the best part, and most shocking too, when Archie says - I never thought I'd ever say this to you Meathead, but you're too good for her! And Gloria starts balling her eyes out!😭😅😆😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Sally Struthers was so wonderful in this. Her character was so believable to me I could actually see her Gloria as the product of Edith and Archie Bunker. She had enough of BOTH of them to be their daughter.

It’s almost like she expected to be something other than a stay at home mom. Clearly she knew that was her role before they moved to California. And whatever Mike was doing, having an affair ain’t the answer to solve it. Gloria really got a lot of passes in this show for being a goofball
Gloria just got homesick. She realized how close she was to her parents. And remember, before Mike got the new job with higher pay, she WAS a working wife.
Was such a great show! Idk how they got away with saying some of those things even the first time watching and the 5th time watching etc! But i sure did love them All!!! 😇😇😇😇😍🥰
No, in the end, he left her AND Joey high and dry. He ran off to a commune to be with one of his students. Since he had no job, was he even paying child support?
If you think about it, it's actually INCREDIBLE that Archie stood next to Mike for a full minute, without even trying to punch him (Knowing he would probably be punched back, but let's be real, he would still try! ) He gave him the benefit of the doubt!
I applaud Archie here for holding Gloria accountable for her fooling around. This whole "be nice" thing Edith wants to do just white washes over wrongdoings pretending like everything's ok.
True. In the Thanksgiving reunion episode of "Archie Bunker's Place", it was clear that Mike and Gloria had not really gotten over the wounds. That was shortly before Edith died, then they split up right afterward.
I don't think that's true at all. There were plenty of relevant storylines. I think it weakened when Mike and Gloria moved away, but Stephanie's character revitalized it a bit.
@@lnicole2504 I agree. The Jeffersons did not even appear in half or even more of the episodes. As for Stephanie, I do not agree with those who criticize her character. She added a lot to the show, as did Billie in "Archie Bunker's Place".
I actually feel as if AITF never Jumped The Shark. I think they had some bad episodes but overall even with less of Mike and Gloria it was still funny.
LOL i thought it was going to come out that when mike was out at night, Gloria's friend was in a drawer. but I don't think they would have even intimated that back then, even in the context o this show.
Mike and Gloria were never right for each other. Gloria was still Archie's daughter, and while she was not conservative like him, she allowed Mike to inculcate her with all those left wing views with which she never really felt comfortable. In the end, they cheated on each other, Mike for good by running off to a commune with one of his students. The man simply hated work and responsibility, and he probably lazed off at the commune while letting all the others do the chores.
You're definitely right, I never cared for Mike. Gloria wasn't "grown enough" to marry when she did. I remember the episode when he proposed, it's like he did so bc she was saving herself for marriage. Mike was a lazy moocher. He definitely could have helped Archie when he was in school.

Nearly all of the time, I would agree. But there are those marriages that feature emotional and/or physical abuse and other problems that are pretty much irreversible. At that point, yes, divorce is the solution, but while they are waiting, there are people in need of tender companionship.

I like Edith, too, but she can be VERY chatty on the show
I was sad when her character died. 😢
Gloria nearly gave us the last episode of All in the Family. Their reaction to the news was priceless.

I was fortunate to be around when this first aired. 🎶Those were the days.🎶
Edith was a saint how she brought peace and stood up for herself despite Archie calling her dingbat
Archie was a narcissist.
Archie was practically a saint for being attracted to her. And she really was a dingbat.
I wish Norman would’ve made Archie look at his own past behaviors before he judged anyone else’s. The fainting spell was hilarious though 😂
