That last match was a rollercoaster good grief. I love the role compression. Flamigo offers. It has a nice tossup between scrappy and costar that can change its partners as well.
I've been using Scrappy Flamigo recently to catch Gholdengo off guard. I'm surprised it isn't more popular with STAB Brave Bird and Close Combat as well as support options like Feint, Tailwind, and Wide Guard. It has performed incredibly well for me.
Hey guys! bDarnandy here and today I'm back watching another episode of road to ranked where he climbs the online Series 1 VGC ladder in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and provides live commentary as he goes.
My favorite niche ability is definitely pickpocket. I've been running focus sash Weavile on some of my teams and if a physical attack pops my sash it'll actually use the sash up and then steal their item. One of my favorite pickpocket procs was swiping a choice band off a Kingambit and then using the extra power from the band to 1 shot a Gholdengo
Oh yeah boi another video where Aarong Cybertron Zheng is back in road to rank series trying to climb in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet ladder and providing live commentary as HE GOES.
It amazes me how much content Aaron puts out. Much faster than I can watch it at any rate! I wonder if the world of competitive Pokémon is so stimulating that one has difficulty relaxing, or for that matter sleeping. Must be really stressful keeping up with the changing meta for y'all competitive players, I bet. I can't imagine playing video games for an hour a day, so I just drop by this channel when I want to keep aware of my childhood love of Pokémon. Haven't played them since the early days of gens 1/2. Boy how things have changed! Aaron's voice is so relaxing though, so I really enjoy watching his content and it has definitely stepped up lately. Keep up the awesome work!
Dang, that guy in game 1 had a full team of marked shinies, including a teeny meowscarada which has a 1 in 16,512 to be 0 size, let alone be shiny. He also had apricorn balls on every mon other than meowscarada which has to be in a pokeball to be legal. Quite the trainer!!!!!
QOTD: My favourite kinda niche ability is mold breaker, tinkaton is crazy as a support mon that can helping hand your Gholdengo or paralyze opposing Garganacl and Gholdengo.
Yo Aaron! Always lookin forward to your late night videos. Had a quick question for ya - which Pokemon are you most looking to be breakout stars in Series 2? Thanks for all the content brotha!
QOTD: I love the idea of Passimian’s Receiver, but I’ve never been able to do anything more exciting than a Swift Swim copy. Great for theory crafting though
I tried out receiver passimian with huge power azumarill in sword/shield, it did alright but wasn’t great unfortunately. Could’ve just been my inexperience at the time though
QOTD: Favorite Niche ability is Propeller Tail, on lower-ish ranks I managed to consistently get knockouts on Trick Room teams with a Ghost Tera Barraskewda, because they didn't know it ignored Follow Me/Rage Spore, or they tried to Fake Out into the Ghost Tera. The higher rank you get, the more people figure out to play around that though ^^..
No!! I've been running Flamigo this entire past week and booming so many people who don''t expect Wide Guard, or for Flamigo to OHKO their Gholdengo. Now the surprise factor is gone and all my secrets have been exposed! I've actually not found Feint to be too helpful because it seems like almost every team I've queued up against has either Farigiraf or Indeedee. I've been running Detect instead, which I found to be just generally quite useful. I also have a Life Orb on Flamigo, but am surprised that it apparently isn't necessary to kill Gholdengo; I should have done the calc... Oh well, but who knows, I'm just some scrub hovering around 6k
I used Choice Scarf Scrappy Flamigo all of series 1 and it was excellent! Between Close Combat and Brave Bird, it would 1 shot most major threats including Goldengo, Hydreigon, and annihilape. Only issue with Annihilape is that scarfed Annihilape is a speed tie so you just have to be lucky. I combined it with a fake out user (sometimes Raichu, other times Tinkaton) and it was great to mess up rental teams :)
I've been having fun with pickpocket on weavile. With such poor bulk it almost always uses up its sash and then the ability just does the funny thing. Absolutely wild games with it.
Flamigo was my answer into the early onslaught of Gholdengo when people were still figuring out how to actually consistently deal with it. Even with Choice Scarf, Flamigo's Close Combat does nearly 150% of Gholdengo's health and if you know it's a different Tera like Fairy, you could instead go for a Brave Bird and consistently OHKO anyways. At least if you also was Tera flying at the time. Which you should probably be because if you instead go for the Choice Band route, you can consistently OHKO Annihilape with Brave Bird, even if they also tera into something like Fire. Though not steel.
My favorite niche ability is Reckless, by the way! I'm running a Choice Band Staraptor with Reckless, and Double Edge / Brave Bird just feel like straight up Delete Buttons.
QOTD: contrary, It’s a counter to intimidate and it’s so fun to click a 120 base power move and for it to raise your stats. It was also really funny in gen 8 to have your stats raised by opposing dynamax moves.
Wow I used the same Dragapult SwSh series 12 and 13 (Hydro Pump instead Protect). However the ability, I know very well... is double-edge sword him is vulnerable to Snarl, Icy Wind or any lowering stat moves. So Infiltrator do normal damage on rival Light Screen A powerful and surprise set for Dragapult I suppouse and love it. P.D. My team was Rillaboom Miracle Seed, Solgaleo Lum Berry, Aurorus Hyper Voice + Refrigerate, Galarian Zapdos Assault Vest, Dragapult Wide Lens and Incineroar Scarf
I am currently using a team that has 3 of the same Pokemon, (Dragapult, Flamigo and Azumarill), and have peaked on the ladder so far at 334. It's crazy how different teams can be even though they share 3 of the same pokemon.
I recently lost a game to a fire tera special slow dragapault i was not expecting, during the game my opponent made a really weird switch that made a lot of sence once the dragapault taraed and deleted my team with flamethrower
Funny to see this flamigo set because I was running this exact same thing with Palafin to help it get off the field easier. Still testing it a bit, but love the flamigo/Palafin combo
@Anthony Soussou ghost tera allows you to avoid fake outs. The reason why I like this combo though is because flamigo learns feint and can hit ghost Pokémon with it so you get an automatic flip turn off with Palafin.
Absolutely wild to see Scrappy Flamigo alongside two Pokemon known for setup not running those setup moves! QOTD: After using it to sweep Grimsley with Swords Dance Lucario, I've gotta go with Steadfast right now. That may change in the future, though.
I actually used scrappy flamigo to reach masterball in the beginning of series 1 had so many gholdengos switching into my close combat it was quite the abuse flamigo stats are nice
Yo hour long vid! Thanks Aaron for this video! I thought of using scrappy flamigo to counter gholdengos but can’t seem to put a proper team together with it. Thanks so much for the info given in team breakdown and weaknesses!
Cybertron put us all to sleep every night💯 we be up all night tossing and turning waiting on him to tuck us in. His videos therapeutic💯

It's also weirdly one of the very few mons this generation with access to Throat Chop for the Sylveon matchup and to stop Snarls, etc.
Honestly it’s main issue is it’s overall stats. Yeah 115 Atk is great but it’s other stats don’t really support it
@@chrishood7720 It's definitely one where you have to do a LOT of calcs to try and get the most out of the EVs.
Flamigo is top 3 best single stage mons, it's crazy how early you get it in game.
Such a goofy design too, love it.
It is my SO's favorite mon! I personally don't get it, but being a Dundunsparce fan I can't complain LOL
@@haffedali6148 you my friend are a genius, I love them both aswell. We’re just severely misunderstood😭
Yeah if you look at the speedruns they basically race to get flamingo
Idk what it is about these videos but they are perfect for watching to sleep then waking up and rewatching! Thanks for the awesome content!
Why is this more relaxing than a guided meditation? Love your work, honestly no other creator I would consistently watch videos of this length
I was "Alexis"
The gasp I let out on the Sucker Punch in Game 3. Really nice set of games. Love a team where all the members get to put in work!
Hey guys! bDarnandy here and today I'm back watching another episode of road to ranked where he climbs the online Series 1 VGC ladder in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and provides live commentary as he goes.

Game 5 (vs Alexis) was against Francesco Pardini, who was on Twitch yesterday with that team.
I love Dragapult! Its so great and reliable just like Rotom-W. Not too op just great overall!
4HP Azumarill pulling through! Holy moly that was a good match!
Oh yeah boi another video where Aarong Cybertron Zheng is back in road to rank series trying to climb in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet ladder and providing live commentary as HE GOES.

He's the best

The last game against Francesco was hype. He almost had you if it wasnt for his bad luck lol
Tbf he also blundered on the taunt SD turn when attacking guaranteed the win, but yeah, that's one time where you can unironically say 'crit mattered'
@@TZ587 He was worried about a possible perish song endgame in which he would have lost because the azumarill was slower than kingambit
@@CimoAnto The Taunt makes sense; why the swords dance?
@@CimoAnto SD is the problem, not Taunt lol
QOTD: My favourite kinda niche ability is mold breaker, tinkaton is crazy as a support mon that can helping hand your Gholdengo or paralyze opposing Garganacl and Gholdengo.
I love the album art collage in the back btw!
I love that Dragapult set... That just feels extremely powerful
What a game that last was. Really fun team to feature and even better execution. Thank you Aaron!
Yo Aaron! Always lookin forward to your late night videos. Had a quick question for ya - which Pokemon are you most looking to be breakout stars in Series 2? Thanks for all the content brotha!
series 2 is gonna be lit
Torkoal for sure! I think Trick Room also will have more potential so hoping for Pokemon like Farigiraf to do a bit better
It's a testament to the depth of Gen 9 Pokemon that Dragapult feels niche in this format.
QOTD: I love the idea of Passimian’s Receiver, but I’ve never been able to do anything more exciting than a Swift Swim copy. Great for theory crafting though

Same here -- and it's so hard to justify running over Defiant.
Besides your great commentary and videos, I really like the album wall in your intros - great music taste B)
Yo, the album collage in the back is amazing!!!
54:16 HE SHARTED OMG
Flamigo is the only mon currently that learns Protect, Detect, Quick Guard and Wide Guard.
Flamigo: *"Can never be too sure."*
💀
Game 5 ending no way 🤣 Great video as always!

Love the album covers behind you especially that rich Brian album
Could you look at the cetitan/abomasnow top 8 team.
Loving the consistency brodie❤ don’t burn yourself out. Like “old” Kanye once said, “Drive slow, homie”
Seeing how good "feint" is, just surprises me. Its basically how quick attack sylveon is used, I think it deals just enough damage to secure some KOs
I used Choice Scarf Scrappy Flamigo all of series 1 and it was excellent! Between Close Combat and Brave Bird, it would 1 shot most major threats including Goldengo, Hydreigon, and annihilape. Glad to see Flamigo getting some attention. Wide Guard/Feint is my favorite Indeedee/Armarouge counter.
5:32 Dragonite on this team has fire punch btw
I've been having fun with pickpocket on weavile. With such poor bulk it almost always uses up its sash and then the ability just does the funny thing. Absolutely wild games with it.

I recently lost a game to a fire tera special slow dragapault i was not expecting, during the game my opponent made a really weird switch that made a lot of sence once the dragapault taraed and deleted my team with flamethrower
The reaction on the fifth battle had more comedic gold in it than most of the comedies coming out today combined
That Sucker Punch at the end.... Omg

I’ve been calling Scrappy Flamigo for weeks. Fighting and Flying are two of the best offensive types atm.
5:37 dragonite’s got fire punch? So that’s atleast something if you really need it (:

that last win was illegal, aaron. I'm gonna have to give you a ticket.
Was waiting for someone to use Scrappy Flamigo

Ive been using Flamigo because it had wide gaurd and was strong in general
the last match shows why you shouldn't BM, also never give up lol
That last game was wild
