My Odontomachus pygmae so her first generation also have crazy size differences, while some are like 3/4 of the Queens size, some are almost as big as her, so it seems to be a thing with semiclaustrals.

I have caught my first 4 queens! All Camponotus herculeanus but only 1 of the 4 have laid eggs, what temp should I be keeping them at? I don’t have heat cable yet so I’m just keeping them in a warm room … and a that enough? Or should I go buy cable?

They don’t need heat as long they are around 21-24 degrees but the shouldn’t need heat as there native to your area so they live in your countries temperature in the wild

@@Maxsearswell the thing about my area is it gets to -50 so houses are insulated so well… the first one layed when it was 30 outside and I had the window in the ant room open, but it’s been cold and rainy since then so under 20. I do have the heater on in the ant room when I’m in there (my work from home office) but the first girl layed when it was 30 and I don’t heat it up that much just to 22 or 23. So I’m wondering if I should get a heat cable or why 3 of my 4 girls haven’t layed when I have had them for 2 weeks
