So what should we name the isopods? I use to watch this guy four or so years ago and recently just got back into it, I just wanted to say his content is nice and I'm currently binging them!
It's remarkable how much their behavior reflects the same scene with larger animals. This reminds me of hyenas guarding their kill from other scavengers
I can’t imagine what this must be like for the ants, being introduced to an alien species that act like they own the place just like themselves. Nature is so cool.
Since they love to not only act like rocks but also climb on them as they try to co-exist with the ants, I think a perfect name for them would be... *Rock N Rollies!* I mean someone had to say it! Isopods are one of my favorite crustaceans, I always puts them together with some small trees and plants I've got and they always stay there and live in the soil for as long as they live. They help keep the plant healthy, get rid of some left over dead stuff and overall I like the looks of a small living bit of nature in my room

@@RodrigoRodrigues-hk8sd I do know that ants and bees are both from the order Hymenoptera. Colonies of both are led by a queen that produces all the eggs. They also determine things by vote, as AntsCanada showed us in a previous video.

My backyard has a colony or more of fire ants and rough sowbugs, and I often see them together under the same logs. Interesting interactions to see. Love the vids.
Name them the Undercover Agents. It has a nice multilevel meaning. Meant to live in the soil (under cover), and passively mimicking rocks to get out of trouble (so they're disguised and moving incognito). Both secret agents and soil agents.

my son likes "suspicious janitors" for the isopods. me myself am a huge Hayao Miyazaki fan and have always thought of isopods as chibi versions of Ohmu from Nausicaa and the valley of the wind. so my suggestion for the isopods is "chibi ohmu". I've been subscribed for many years now and love the content! I've seen many different video styles threw out the years but I'm curious if anyone else felt like this video was someone reading a children's book? Could be just me but still love the content!
I’d call the isopods the Crimson Crew, as they are the clean up crew for Crimsonia! I always named my isopod colonies as if they were gangsters, my favorites were The VooDoo Crew which were my A. vulgare “magic potion” and my PowderPuffs which were my powder orange isopods 😊
Tbh i have been a watcher since 2017. I was actually inspired by this content which lead to me catching a few queen ants and raising them to be up to around 200 workers. Keep up the good work 😃😃

I really love these videos. I have to be honest though. Those wet Foley sounds you added for when they're eating, was up a little too high. It's just like constant wet sloshing and squishing sounds and it made this video really hard for me to get through...its usually not louder than your voice but this time it was..idk. thank you for all you do and thank you for sharing all of experiences

i used to watch antscananda about three years ago and about five months ago i began binging all the episodes i missed and when i tell you that i bawled my eyes out and felt so many emotions too fast i dont know how to process how i feel i am so happy yet oh my god imagine watching three years worth of videos im so happy i caught up
I just came across the Camponoseum video earlier this evening. Hours later and several videos more, I’ve got to say I am truly invested! Redwoods are awesome! How is the Ebony colony doing? How are the other Camponoseum colonies? This is waaay better than any series on Netflix 😎🐜🙌🏻
Wow u have added noise effects when u place the jelly and when the ants are eating/walking nice I prefer the old music but this was whimsical it was cute ended up just listening to the background music and had to replay to actually watch it 😅 😆 But you did such a great job with the narration that you are able to imagine without having to see it (kinda like reading a book) Really liked listening/watching to this video
I love your content and this was a great break for my afternoon. Feedback: Personally I'm not a big fan of the "bug noises" that were added in in post-production. The crinkling noise were a bit irritating amongst the music and narration, which normally make for a pretty chill watching experience.

@@AntsCanada I also think there was something wrong with the video quality this time. Usually it's very good, even on the lower resolutions, but this time it was just blurry, grainy and out of focus a lot. Just check out around 7:30 for example.
@@AntsCanada There's definitely some shots that are lower resolution, it could possibly be a compression issue. For instance at 6:15 the video is very pixelated even in 4k but at 2:55 when you put the jelly in it looks fine
when I came to live in my neighborhood with my parents in 1988 the place was relatively new so, no isopods anywhere so I went back to my old stomping grounds where I developed the love for searching for bugs from pretty much the day I could walk and I found many isopods and introduced them to my new garden now today they are all over the neighborhood. now in forested areas, in my country, there lives an isopod that can grow up to whopping 2 inches! as soon as spring hits I'm getting them I know where to find them and the isopod world of my creation needs more diversity after 33 years I know of 3 other species and I'm getting them too introducing them first to my compost heap as I did with the first batch. I introduced quite a lot of animal life in the period 1988-92 snails and slugs toads ladybugs millipedes worms rarer local ants and many more. the plot of houses was pretty bare in 1988 it was built on an artificially elevated sand bar it takes some time for that to bear fruit talking about flora I introduced a ton load of plants that all migrated from my postage stamp of a garden to the whole neighborhood like you I'm a creator of worlds unlike you I live in it!
Two inch isopods? Sounds like you live in Spain, where the largest terrestrial isopods have been discovered. I keep a Spanish species, called Porcellio magnificus, which grow to roughly two inches in length.
I can’t believe i watch his channel i have hyper entomophobia, and i mean hyper I can’t even handle flies and mosquitoes but this man made me like ants a little, but still some progress tho.
I couldn't handle seeing cockroach irl or but somehow I can watch him chop up cockroach to give his ants colony. I have a fear for ants too because I left food out on the table for too long and...well, it was disturbing to see. But here I am following him for about 2 years already.
Isopods are EXCELLENT cleanup crews however, as soon as they start reproducing, you’ll very quickly go from a few, to hundreds! And as soon as that happens, they’ll actually start competing pretty heavily with the ants. (Unless you have a species which is specifically known for being aggressive.) I’ve literally seen tugging matches between carpenter ants and zebra isopods, (Armadillidium, maculatum) and unfortunately, the ants don’t always win, especially once the isopods start to outnumber them. So if you do introduce isopods, you’ll be fine for the first few months but after that, be prepared to start removing them by the dozen.
This is certainly a new, unique format. It feels like it's tailored to more of a younger audience though than an adult, which could work, but was a deterrent for me. I like to come here for the science-y stuff and learning about ants rather than simpler wording and more personification of the ants. It's like watching National Geographic vs National Geographic Kids. You could possibly split up the format for videos tailored towards children, but that's just my thoughts on it. The bug eating noises were also a slight bother to me. Maybe quite them down or remove them?

I can’t believe i watch his channel i have hyper entomophobia, and i mean hyper I can’t even handle flies and mosquitoes but this man made me like ants a little, but still some progress tho.
I couldn't handle seeing cockroach irl or but somehow I can watch him chop up cockroach to give his ants colony. I have a fear for ants too because I left food out on the table for too long and...well, it was disturbing to see. But here I am following him for about 2 years already.

They should be named the rocky interceptors because they camouflage as rocks and tries to take the jelly for them selves
Isopods are EXCELLENT cleanup crews however, as soon as they start reproducing, you’ll very quickly go from a few, to hundreds! And as soon as that happens, they’ll actually start competing pretty heavily with the ants. (Unless you have a species which is specifically known for being aggressive.) I’ve literally seen tugging matches between carpenter ants and zebra isopods, (Armadillidium, maculatum) and unfortunately, the ants don’t always win, especially once the isopods start to outnumber them. So if you do introduce isopods, you’ll be fine for the first few months but after that, be prepared to start removing them by the dozen.
The isopods should be called: "The Imperial Gray Ninjas" Since half of them were sneaky!
This is certainly a new, unique format. It feels like it's tailored to more of a younger audience though than an adult, which could work, but was a deterrent for me. I like to come here for the science-y stuff and learning about ants rather than simpler wording and more personification of the ants. It's like watching National Geographic vs National Geographic Kids. You could possibly split up the format for videos tailored towards children, but that's just my thoughts on it. The bug eating noises were also a slight bother to me. Maybe quite them down or remove them?
