Looks like an excellent update. Would like to see more detailed videos. Also would like to see how you would use along with TK 9 editing. Great job Dave. Thanks!
Dave, thanks for this First Look video in particular, it's sold me on upgrading to 7. I do really like the new features you demonstrated, yes, this app is really ticking big boxes. Again thanks so much. You always do a really fine job of explaining anything and everything.
Thank Dave for the first look. I would love a tutorial on the luminosity mask feather. I’ve been waiting for this forever. It’s a great upgrade and just downloaded it. Can’t wait to use it. Looks like it’s going to be a bit of a learning curve.
boy has the collection come a long way, I still have the 'old free' one from years and years ago. Still works in PS. :-) Thanks for a new look at an old friend.
Thanks Dave! This looks like a great improvement on 6 that still had those pesky round control points. Yeah for proper radial filters. With all those new features it looks like time to upgrade again.
Hi, Dave. Good to see you in NIK 7. Does this mean that you have stopped using Topaz? Just started looking into the extended version of Topaz Studio2...awesome stuff. Good to catch up. Bob. (U.K.).
Thank you for the most excellent summary. I'm curious if you have a list of your favorite or "most useful filters" in the new Color Efex Pro 7? I only use a few of them regularly and I'm wondering if I'm skipping some useful ones... Thanks!
very nice tutorial ! now that vivez is inside cep, it would be nice silver efex also comes inside as filter we can stack... no need to switch to, especially when we come fromLightroom classic
I'm still using the original Google version. I only use colour efex and silver efex...no need for the other plugins, especially the noise reduction ones. Wish Nik would allow you to purchase only those you want. Why pay for stuff you don't need/want.
Agreed that the new version offers a lot of improvements, but I agree Perspective should definitely be continued, as it is essential for architectural images.
Thank you for a preliminary great video, Dave! I was on a 30-day trial of version 6 when they released 7, and I'm really loving the new features. However, the only thing I'm not happy about is the fact that version 7 doesn't handle the smart object layers/filters I created with version 6. if I want to go back and tweak those a bit, I have to have 6 installed as well. Imagine if Photoshop didn't handle edits from older versions, that wouldn't be good. Luckily, I don't have that many edits with version 6. Thanks.
Wish I used Nik enough to bother upgrading. I'm still on version 4 and no longer qualify for upgrade pricing. Sure, it's faster, but there are maybe a handful of things I use it for and it's just not worth the $159. What would make me consider it more would be real film simulations. They market using a combination of Color Efex and Silver Efex in combination with Analog Efex to recreate old film stock, but having presets for some of the popular ones would make that more attractive to me.
In Color Efex in the Film Efex Modern (branded) they have over 30 different film stock simulations and they have curves applied for each of film simulations and grain. They have around 27 film simulations in Silver Efex with curves and grain.
i havent been able to figure out how to get nik collection 6 into photoshop. I open them stand alone. can we get 7 free if we just bought 6 a couple months ago?
Thanks Dave. Love this. Great one again. Out of curiosity, how does Nik fit into your workflow? Do you still do your basic "set yourself up for success" in PS then roll over into Nik? Or do you use this collection to create artistic effects once you have done your complete edit in PS? Thank you sir!
Your welcome Dwight and Happy Editing. I do my TK Workflow and if I feel I need a special effect, I go for NIK Color Efex. I love the detail extractor, Glamour Glow, Pro Contrast and sometimes the Bi Color. I also like to experiment with Film Looks, especially for iPhone image. For fun experimentation I go to NIK Analog Efex.
@@thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly Thanks Dave! Cool. I do the same. If I am mobile, I use VSCO & RNI. I only shoot mobile however. Appreciate the response!
@@dwightbroemanphotosandart Dwight I use VSCO too. Have you tried the Lightroom App. I am using it on a regular basis now for iPhone images. It let's you shoot in RAW and you don't get all of the artifacts that you get if you use the iPhone Camera App and shoot in there version of RAW.
@@thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly I have! You mean the pro desktop version? It know works as a Lightroom plugin. It’s great. I have been pushing them for a PS plugin.
@@dwightbroemanphotosandart I do use the Lightroom Classic desktop app to edit them but I use the Lightroom Mobil App to shoot my iPhone images in the RAW format. The cool thing is after shooting the images they show up in the files of the Lightroom Classic desktop app. Tony Kuyper has made Linear Profiles for the iPhone images so I like to start with the Linear Profile and then send them to Photoshop and use TK9 to further editing.
It is so much more than that. For instance: Polygon Tool, Luminosity Masks, Multiple HSL Adjustments, Multiple Clear View adjustments, Viveza adjustments in NIK Color Efex, the new Switch To another Nik App. This is a very big and welcome update, in my opinion. I almost forgot the Search Bar is very helpful, especially when there are so many filters to choose from in NIK Color Efex.
Excellent, Dave! Look forward to your future Nik7 tutorials. Thanks.
Thanks Dave. NIK 7 looks really nice. I would love to see more videos for this tool.
Great first look. I would love to see some more in-depth videos for Nik7. Thank you!
Looks like an amazing update. I'll make sure to use your affiliate link when I decide to go for it, Dave. Thanks.
Thanks for your support!

Excellent, thank you. More of everything NIK, you are the man
You truly highlight the new features. Much appreciated. Thanks Dave!
Much better intro than DXO did. So, yes, please, more in-depth videos, but don't burn yourself out.
Thanks for this first look at the Nik up date Dave.

More Nik tutorials, please.

Great Job! and please more videos on Nikon Collection 7
Hi David, Can you please produce a tutorial showing just how to create the Dragan effect as Lee Jeffries does, using Nik software.
Thanks.

Did Nik add any presets to Silver Efex?
I Definitely would like to see moew videos with the Nik collection!!
“MORE” videos!! Oops. Lol

That is an issue with the Smart Objects. Thanks for pointing it out.
Version 7 is a huge step forward, true. But masking is still lagging way behind Lightroom for example. But, I agree, Nik is an excellent plug-in.
I'm on the 30-day trial now,,,hoping for more tutorials before I pull the trigger on this one.
in Nik Collection 7 it is absent perspective effect?

I have the NIK 6 upgrading to NIK 7 (89 US$) too expensive. I'll keep my NIK 6
Lookslike the same old Nik with rearranged panels.

I’m pissed at DxO. They eliminated the Perspective tool. It was the best I’ve ever used. I won’t be buying any upgrades.
