what dweezil is doing imho , is perhaps the most proper and honorable thing a person can do .acknowledging his father's genius and dedicating his life to perpetuating the music , it could be considered selfless sacrifice, but he does get to play zappa and be a zappa . kudos to dweezil from swami's motel band

Yes ! his father always went direct in full blow mode. Dweezil takes his time to build, and that's why he is even better than Frank. Hope Frank is nodding down, from up where he is, and having a great laugh, being outplayed by his Son Dweezil !!!!

Yes. And for me he is the only one that REALLY looks like he is in a Frank Zappa band. No doubt because he played with the man himself. But younger generation musicians somehow don't have the same flare and wit that musicians in Zappa's bands had. Although they are all good musicians, no doubt. Keyboard solo was really nice.

Dweezil, a total gentleman, I was lucky to see him pre show, Bristol Colston Hall UK 2011, sound check then to sign gear brought in by the lucky us ( 30 i think) he sat on edge of stage, shook my hand, and I got him to sign my FOOL SG replica, he strummed it, chat on Apostrophe, and Frank, no hurry, no rushing even though roadies were telling him to "get a move on". 2 or 3 hours later, he`s back again, out in foyer, signing loads of stuff, I waited my turn, not to be greedy as (pre show) he looked up and said, "hey Den, where`s that fancy guitar" then gave my missus a hug. This was after 11pm by now, he`d played a million notes and still had the memory to call me Den, what a most brilliant bloke this man is and what a fantastic guitar player, a real gent. All I spoke to later said the same, fantastic person.

What's funny about Zappa's intense amount of material that if you have friends who listens to Zappa as well, you can always find something neither of you have not probably heard before. The amount of albums and releases just makes sure that you can pick a random album and find something new. Exploring all of his stuff would take a lifetime and that mine of art is just fun to dig.

While listening to this song, I got a huge urge to take a dump. But I don't want to pause the song to break the continuation and cut the experience. Gives this song and performance a bit extra intensity.

My daughter and I went to a Dweezil Master Class before his show and someone asked him what was his hardest thing to play and he immediately said the solo in this song. He said he had to practice it before every show and then he tried to perform it for us. The first time he messed it up. He said, "See, it's still hard for me". What an honest and open guy. I'll see hin play any time I can.

SG gibsons are incredibly difficult to play. Just the right touch. Im sure he started playing that guitar at 4 years old. His tone, dynamic range, feel and build is incredible. :)

And hats off to the soundman because he knows how to accentuate a greatly tuned drum kit. You will rarely hear drums sounding this good outside of a studio environment. Outstanding sound engineering, mucho kudos to the engineer it sounds nearly as good as the studio album and THAT is truly saying something!

The original on the album has solo components dropped in from different live concerts. No Autotune, just Frank having his band and music as tight as a goat skin over a gourd. I only saw him once, in Vancouver, around Sheik Yerbouti era, sitting calmly on a stool, flipping pages of the score, and ripping holes in the sonic universe. This rocks. Thank you Dweezil. This clip cuts it off, but on the DVD it shows NMBrock with his arms out-stretched, praising the band to the audience in several directions, As he walks off the stage, he starts shaking his head, and I know what he is saying to himself: "What a fuckin' band !!" Of all the versions of this song I have heard, this is the finest. As the guitar solo builds and builds, DZ kicks in some guitar synth, really starts to soar, and the band comes Roaring back (5:00) to a climax at (7:45). It's so good, it gives me chills. AND THE SONG'S ONLY HALF OVER. Praises to DZ for keeping Frank's music alive, and exposing a new generation to it.

In today's world a trade founded by the father is rapidly becoming something of the past, considering that many kids don't carry on where their fathers left off (instead they arse about with their Iphones and are not creative). Dweezil has the power to keep his father's music, genius, and legend alive (and I hope Dweezil's kids will continue too), this assures his musical genius and inspiration will never cease to exist. The man was a musical pioneer, I love his sound and style, and when I hear stuff like this it positively charges me! Long live the name FRANK ZAPPA, and long live his creations. I've loved this song since the first time I heard it in like, 1976, seen Frank perform it live a few times, this piece was _made_ for live performance, and this one was brilliant, one of the best I've heard, imo. Dweezil is a hell of a guitarist, that solo was just awesome, a _chip off the old block_ as they say, what an amazing band, as tight as the original.
Really enjoyed this, I've been kind of _re -_ discovering Frank Zappa of late, since YT has become the most amazing musical library ever assembled, I'm also finding all of his stuff I _hadn't_ heard. I am, at this point, completely in awe of the man and his music, far more than I was as a teenager, it's great that his son is sharing his father's music with a new generation, all of it is pretty timeless, and pretty amazing too.

SPECTACULAR!!!! Brings back the awesomeness of this composition . Played so well. Just ponder the significance, though, its one thing to play it ,and another to invent it. Love to Frank and his legacy ., including his offspring . I hope Dweezils kids can appreciate , and pass on the talent. . Music is the best.... especially this music!!!!!

The first time I saw Zappa Plays Zappa here in Richmond, VA, it was at one of the smaller venues called Toad's Place. There were very large plasma TVs for the time mounted around the performance area. At one point during the concert, they played an old DVD of Frank on all of the displays and a projector behind the stage. The audio from the DVD was mixed in to the sound board and Dweezil and his Dad traded guitar solos and jammed together. I cried, in fact I'm crying now...

Inca Roads is perhaps my favourite Zappa 'tune" of all time. As Frank himself said: "I like to play solos.... LONG ones!" I never thought that anyone could come close to Frank's original solo on "One Size Fits All" (an edited version of the one which appeared on the Helsinki concert box set), in terms of feel and emotion. But Dweezil, you did it! You've really done your old man proud here. Beautiful work from Napoleon and the rest of the band as well.

Inca Roads has one of the most beautiful guitar solos Frank ever played,
man, thrown right back into the seventies, was always one of my
favorite compositions...and Napoleon still sounds like back that days,
amazing singer...absolutely cool to hear this in 21st century hd sound
      :)
      Thanks a lot guys

Absolutely amazing. It's so awesome that FZ passed down some of his skills and talent to the Dweez and that he in turn continues to share his playing with us. Any Zappa fans out there that haven't seen him yet, make sure to catch Dweezil and his ZPZ shows if you get the chance. You'll be glad that you did.

At 4;54, the buildup on the guitar - He's going da dit doo da-da...dit doo da-da - a repeated motive and then the whole band comes back in...and it's just UNBELIEVABLE! It's absolutely perfect. It makes my skin tingle and brings tears to my eyes...complete and utter joy. I can only imagine how overwhelmingly brilliant it must have been to see live. I play this over and over again. Inca Roads man - Zappa was a genius and max respect to Dweezil and all the musicians - a fitting tribute.

Love it, great version. Dweez is killing it and frankly so are the rest of these guys. FZ always wrote the best material for his world class musicians to really stretch out on. Who else could compose stuff in odd time that grooved as hard? Not many people I would wager.

I saw ZPZ twice and both times they just ridiculous like this video. But this solo by Dweezil is some other kind of out-world-transcendence channeling of his Dad quite literally! A-fuckin-mazing!

From all the guitar solos from all the legebdary guitarists in the history of music, I think this one is my favorite, took me 10 years to realize that. Dweezil is not the best guitarist in the world or anything, but the emotion... It just gets to me a tiny little bit deeper than all the others. Zappa'd be a proud dad for sure.

I heard Dweezil in Phoenix in an outdoor concert. There was a large screen. Unfortunately, the sound wasn't working. Dweezil wanted to show his father playing on video and to have the band play along. What a concept! I think Dweezil keeps the music of Frank Zappa alive. His music is still relevant. Dweezil has had decades to learn how to play guitar, lead his band, and improve the interpretation of the compositions. What great art. What great musicians.

    And, thank YOU Dweezil!
