In my opinion, it seems most accurate because it literally is "made to measure" accurate to your proportions. It's _your_ proportions, you a unique human being. "Custom" doesn't imply that, it just means you picked out details. Example: Custom car would be picked out a paint color, seats, etc you wanted. Not taking into consideration any art style or engineering, or what time of day does the paint color go with, or does it achieve anything, just that you picked it. That's customized.
Ironically, I received my first Indochino suit today. I have two fully bespoke suits that are excellent, but I wanted to see what I could get for 1/4 the price. And I wasn’t disappointed. The suit requires a couple of micro adjustments, that all bespoke suits likewise require, but I’m really pleased. The suit fits great. The pants are perfect right out of the box as is the vest. The jacket requires a little work re the fit of the lapel but otherwise it fits great. My experience, happily, appears to have been far better than yours.
Jim Croce sang about Big Jim, a guy you don't mess around with. But even though he had a "two-piece, custom made, pool cue," he was still taken down by Slim.
I love how you incorporate orange in your outfit since it is my favourite colour, but so hard to use correctly. Really an inspiration 👍 Keep up the good work
I would like to thank Preston here for his earlier advice on ordering online in another video! As a direct result, I've been quite pleased by my own iTailor experience, so far. First, I bought a shirt and slacks, carefully measuring myself according to their directions. Slacks used the same fabric and both were carefully designed to match well with a suit I will order later. I wrote down all sizes for later use. When my order contained a mistyped shoulder size, they quickly spotted the discrepancy and emailed me to verify my size. Once both shirt and slacks arrived, I noted slight changes in fit I would prefer for later, and again wrote the new sizes down. I plan to order that new suit and some extra shirts soon, using the adjusted sizes.
Because I have been handling a needle and thread by hand since I was a child, I customize a lot of my own clothing to fit me better or to be better accessorize

While not falling under the "custom" umbrella, I'd argue there's a fifth category between ready-to-wear and made-to-order, and that would be "made on demand". Basically made-to-order but with no customization other than picking your size. Examples of this include Beckett Simonon and Gustin.
I've heard the hype about Pendleton wool for years so when I got the opportunity to buy yardage from the Pendleton outlet I jumped at the chance. I couldn't see any improvement in quality over what I could find in the average fabric store. It was just meh. When I got the chance to buy 120's wool suiting from a bespoke tailor I again jumped at it. The wool is gorgeous and a delight to work with. In this case I definitely feel the name brand quality was hype but the bespoke quality was spot on.
Great video but when are we going to get a review of the myriad MTM shirt companies out there? Something similar to what you did for shoes under $300 would be amazing.
I think the fact it means something or not is subjective. For instance to most of my friends it means nothing, they grab the first tracksuit they find. To me on the other hand "custom" as long as "tailored" means everything, I want my clothes to be exactly as I want them, they have to be unique so I'm the only one that has them and they have to fit like a glove. It's not that I want to show off or something, I just want the best clothes
Custom is basically a necessity for people who are unusual sizes, such as me, who is smaller than most ready to wear products will go, or my friend, who is quite tall and thin and has the opposite problem.

I listened to a tailor talking about his worst suit experiences and he said that one of the worst suits he ever altered was a 30k bespoke suit. It really just depends as does everything. I think I’m going to make my own suit in the coming year and see how it goes. I also have the idea of making a sweater suit too. Cashmere or alpaca. Could even do a sweater style button up shirt and sweater style knitted tie.
Customized pockets which Mr. Raphael has inside his suits to hold a pen. There can be some custom lining, like a print of a photo on the fabric to keep it more personal, many other things I can say like even the piping in the jackets. So classic men's wear has a lot of space for your personality and customization too.
I keep meaning to ask about Preston's wedding band. It's really cool, a dark almost bronze color. Today he must have washed something and forgot to put it back on.
Deo Veritas allowed me to create a shirt with a combo of styles, most of which aren't even made unless it's bespoke. I have the "California" collar, which is a one piece that doesn't close yet remains stiff, the cocktail or 007 cuff, and a very long torso. I will only use that combo with my dress shirts, and very few even do both.
I guess the issue with custom is that it's not a protected term, and therefore companies can use it however they see fit in their marketing. This can be an issue if us, as customers, aren't very sartorially educated. Luckily, we have GG to help us with that 😁 On the merits of custom clothing, personally, I think if you don't go full bespoke it's not a great option for most people. If you have a (fairly) off-the-rack body, than ready-to-wear with alterations can be as good as MTM for, usually, a better price.
What about shops like Hall Madden? They have shops in large US cities where you can get measured, there are 3 rounds of fittings, but the garment is made in 🇨🇳 to reduce costs to the low thousands. Are they filling a market space between Indochino and true bespoke? What do you think of their quality vs off the rack designer at a similar price?
Gentlemen, I have a question. Button color. Was recently given a beautiful suit by my father. The buttons on the jacket are golden in color. I have mixed feelings about this and wonder if they should be black like the suit. Could you all to a brief episode or send me some advice on button color? I thoroughly enjoy your channel and eagerly await a reply. Your friend, Michael Valentino.
I am trying to find out how to order customized stationery with 3d features like what was briefly shown at 0:37, but can't. What is that called, and where can I get it?
I don't really see the point of this video; it is merely a subjective discussion about semantics. Didn't help me at all when trying to decide between online offerings. I'd really love you to do such a review - especially of outfits like Hockerty, which seems to be a Marmite brand.
What are your opinions on denim trousers and the brand Luxire? I raise the question in this videos comment section as That is a custom thing Luxire is excelling at.
‘Custom’ is a meaningless term. An item of clothing is either bespoke, made to measure or ready to wear. Bespoke being an item that is specifically cut and tailored to an individual. Made to measure being an item that is made in bulk as a basic template, then is cut and sewn to fit and individual. Ready to wear is an item pre-made to a standard sizing system you buy in a shop, which may be altered to fit. In that context, any item of menswear may be ‘custom’.
The gratuitous overuse of the word "custom" as a descriptive for products that obviously aren't is, if not a uniquely American phenomenom, most likely started there.
