I ended up watching this back when it came out. I admit that I didn’t want to watch it at first because I thought it was going to be some cheesy comedy type of show. But I the took a day to watch them all and loved ever bit of it. I laughed and cried during it.
It even made me appreciate FFXIV a lot more as well.
I wanted my friends and family to watch this to show that people can be friends online and can actually be close to those you meet. But they didn’t really care to much and brushed me off. Which, did hurt.
Anyways, it’s heartbreaking that he passed away as he brought so much joy to so many people.
Rest In Peace our Warrior of Light.

Wow, didn't know the show was based off of a true story. But this show also reminded me of my late little brother. He was sick with leukemia, and I gave him my copy of Final Fantasy XI. It gave him a world to explore when he was sick. I later bought another copy for myself and although we didn't play much together, we did bonded a bit more. This show reminded me of how much I miss him.

Ren Osugi was a very popular actor in Japan with many years of experience. His death was a loss to the Japan entertainment. A lot of Japanese actors/actresses respected him and posted a few pics with him in memory of him.

I'm hoping they eventually add some form of gravestone or marker at the spot where indy and maidy first met as a memorial to the fallen...i heard the director of the show logged the indy character into the game last week on the server they used to film those parts(gugnir) and left the character at that spot so players could pay respects, i cant help but feel a grave marker or something similar accross all servers would be a better answer longterm.

I never knew this tv show existed until I saw it pop on my netflix tonight. What I saw looked interesting enough for me to stop it so I can watch it seriously (not while playing the game, lol).

I've seen him in several j-dramas and he was great in all of them. And rewatched Dad of Light just the week before... this is all really sad and he will be greatly missed.

Oh oh wow. Just thought about this series and went on youtube to see stuff about it and find this. This is heart breaking. I hope the real father from this story though is doing well after everything and he and his son are having fun still in final fantasy.

The elderly of Japan have an epidemic of hiding developing health issues. Often the elderly are left to their own devices and they are overly considerate for their working children and grandchildren. They don't want them to worry for an old man or woman at the tail end of their life and they are at peace with that decision.
There's a phenomenon called kodokushi where there are thousands of elderly people die alone in their homes and go for weeks undiscovered, but not limited to just the elderly. Family members often finding out they died from treatable diseases they kept to themselves.
