    About Dude Dad:
Hi! I'm Taylor Calmus, a Colorado-based actor/comedian. I started Dude Dad© two weeks before my son Theo was born as a way to stay creative while learning to be a father. My wife Heidi and I now have 3 kids and over 300+ videos. My purpose for the channel is to entertain, enlighten and inspire.
In addition to Dude Dad©, I have been in numerous TV shows, commercials, and have regular appearances on Jimmy Kimmel Live. I will also be hosting my own TV show called "Super Dad" on the new Magnolia Network / Discovery+. Heidi and the kids will also be a part of the show. I am originally from the rural community of Howard, South Dakota.

Current CO resident, and have lived here for 40+ years. Husband is a native. This video is the truth, and then some. The need for moisturizer, however, fades after the first couple of decades here. After that, going anywhere with more than 10% humidity is a form of sticky torture. Also, the water everywhere else sucks by comparison.

    • @kaitert

@@Abyssinian121 I agree and have lived here my entire life besides a semester in Europe. The water here is so much better than anywhere else. I don’t actually like bottled water much either. The worst was visiting friends while in college when they lived in states like New Mexico and Kansas with awful tap water. They were so used to going to the store and keeping gallons of water around. They would have them prepared for any big test, or if they had to hunker down during bad weather. They got so used to drinking warm water. I couldn’t do it.

I went to pick the kids up from school a few days ago and they made them stay inside so all the parents had to go into the school to grab their children. Supposedly it was "too cold" at 20°F to let the kids wait outside for five, maybe fifteen minutes max. I forgot my coat on the way out of the house so I walked into the school wearing a tshirt, jeans, and ballet flats, and every other parent looked at me like I was completely insane. "Yeah, put your car in low gear and don't slow down when you're going uphill"; "We need the moisture"; "Yeah, they're from Texas, get around them, they think they're way up high in the mountains"; Drink a lot of water, you're at altitude"; "Don't worry, we can get Rockpile tickets the day of the game"; "This is the front range, that's the western slope"; "It's called treeline, not timberline"; "We're only at 11,000 feet, whatsa matter with you?". Subarus really are that good though. I worked at a car rental lot in Idaho during the winter in 2016. My first day there was a whiteout but we got a bunch of new Crosstreks and Outback’s. I was just cruising along gassing them up while people in suburbans were sliding off the road. It’s why I drive a Legacy now.

I always loved getting my REI dividend! After living in Denver 30+ years, our real estate allowed us to make a cash buy here in Kentucky with acreage. You know, now that you live in Colorado you can never afford to move back to California. Nor could we afford to move back to Colorado. Funny how that works!😂

    • @susancnw59

Ppl doing that is why Californians made living here so expensive (name your price, we have cash) & now exporting that to other states.

I moved there for 2months and my hair lost half its length cause for the first time in my life my hair frizzed. I was told to keep a bottle of coconut or olive oil with me. Everyone used it on thier hair and skin. It was a god send. Didn't leave my hair oily either. It sucked it right up.

In Denver they have eighteen inch curbs so you just bounce off instead of running off the road. When the snow gets deep enough they plow it with a road grader. Watch out for garbage trucks running the alley way red lights in the snow at five in the morning.

As a 2nd year transplant from FL that doesn't want to leave, I'll take quirky cold over crazy tropics any day. Living here you learn that these stereotypes are purely out of function, you spend on Patagonia because it has an awesome replacement policy that pays itself, you drive a subaru because it's the happy middle between MPG and all season drivability, and no matter how much you moisturize your skin is always dry

Lived in Colorado since 83. Yep, in time for some epic blizzards. But came from Michigan, still wear less layering than natives here...who often don't ski. Lol. Still struggle with powder, ice is so...set your edges. In Colorado must know the compass...directions all in NSEW. Also do NOT plant evergreens on the south side of a driveway, especially one with hills. Unless you like hibernating. For a few days anyway.
