For the last couple of years I’ve been telling myself that I need to start a leadership coaching business. I’ll get super amped up and feel the energy tipping me into action, then all the doubt and fear rushes in and I fall back down.
I’ve been following Ali for a year and I’ve felt the energy rising, teetering on that tipping point.
This episode felt like it was made for me specifically… so thanks, Ali, for doing all this for just me 😉 Robin, your approach and line of questioning and uncovering really hit me to the core. That just shows how well you understand people and their pains.
I know I have value to offer, a deep passion to back it, and skills to excel. Now it’s about taking the next step (the “hardest one” for you Sanderson fans) and put it all into action.
It’s scary, it’s difficult to mentally commit to it, but it feels right. You two are magicians. Thank you.

Hey Jake, thank you for taking the time to share this and be vulnerable in doing so. I totally hear you and can feel that fear.
I get a sense from what you’ve said that you’re feeling this is an “all or nothing” move for you possibly (consciously or unconsciously)…but there is a world where you can dip your toe in while not feeling like you have to risk everything. 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Reach out to me if you want to chat it through 🙏🏻🙌🏻 it would be a pleasure to see if there’s a path which isn’t so scary for you.

@@RobinMWaite So I stopped listening halfway through the interview to read your book (which I finished in a day). So from the first half, I got that positive mindset and belief is essential. Always be customer focused when selling so the customer can see the value and see the fair exchange for the cost.
From the second half, there was more of a focus on making sure that you are building good habits (like working out daily and protecting your time) so you don't burnout and can be with your family to make you succeed. That's just a few that really stand out to me, but there's so much more. Gotta go and write your Amazon review now ;)

I’ll be really honest 7 years ago when my coach suggested I’d, “Make a great business coach!” I properly got the ‘ick’ as I knew the world I’d be stepping into. So I hugely appreciate your support and lovely feedback, thank you 🙏🏻
It’s an unregulated industry and “certified” coaches know about the ethical/moral code of conduct you sign up to as a coach. While I don’t hold an official certificate to say I’m a business coach (I’m very open about this) I vowed right from day 1 that I would follow the coach’s code of conduct as closely as I can. Part of that is having a trusted team of associate coaches who I can rely on to make referrals when things shift outside of my core areas of expertise.

So perhaps look at those fears...with trying for perfection it might be that the fear is of it not being good enough or maybe fear of looking a bit stupid or being judged. I'm so happy I found this interview when I did. I'm in the process of starting another business being a Virtual Assistant and there were so many helpful point in this interview. I will be rewatching this video again to stop and answering some of the questions.
I've thought about getting a business coach but I've been skeptical about it. Is this person gonna sell me shit or be really helpful. Business coaches are not cheap and I don't have a lot of money to spend on one. I want to make sure I weed out the really to the fake.
My questions to you Ali and @RobinMWaite what are some questions I can ask a potential business coach? What are the red flags I should be aware of?

Great to connect and thank you for your lovely comments about the interview. And yes, I agree, the coaching world is full of the good, the bad and the downright ugly unfortunately. I was very sceptical myself stepping into the industry, even as a coach myself. So my best advice is to be sceptical. Approach slowly and with caution. I'd be looking for reputation markers such as the number and quality of their reviews, do they have testimonial videos out there, what is the level of their reputation. i.e. do they have books, thought leadership material, getting booked for partnerships with notable people/companies, who have they worked with previously...and most importantly how do they actually show up in the world? Maybe even speak with some of their past clients to find out what their experience was working with them. If you can't find anything about them that's a big red flag. If they spout of about magazines and media they've been in but none of it rings true, essentially if their profile looks "fake" then most likely there's no real substance to their coaching practices either. I'd meet with several before you choose your coach so you get a feel for who you like working with the most. Hope that helps.

Ah great question, when I finally figured out I’d burned through my warm audiences, it became clear I’d been neglecting the top of funnel and growing my broader cold audiences.
So it was back to first principles again around how to grow the email list, UA-cam channel, podcast/guest appearances (think I nailed this with Ali’s pod 😂😂), speaking ops, getting my book out to more people.
Essentially just raising awareness and building a more organic “funnel” (I hate the word funnel personally!!) so I could reach more people. It’s a lot slower and less glamorous…but I enjoy it a lot more and I get to build deeper relationships with my audience.
      Hope that helps 🙌🏻🙌🏻

Great interview. I think the math is wrong around 41:00. The package is for 6 months so the 20 clients wouldn't need 1 hour a week for the entire year. It would average out to 10 hours a week if you scheduled them evenly through the year.
