you can tell the greats on any instrumennt from the people who have all the chops and the pocket: it's their phrasing. it's what they choose to play, how they choose to play it, link it, execute it and string it all together. it's what they choose NOT to play even though they can play it with their eyes shut.
It's hard to imagine that such a sound comes out of just 3 people on stage. All 3 each in their own right are incredibly good. Put them all together and it's even better.
They became my favorite band from the first minute I heard them. Lucky me; they've already played 2 times in our small town Jyväskylä (Finland)... and I mean they are just playing, because they can do almost what ever comes in their minds. So I agree with Andrew: They have the freedom!
This is when ones of the best and humblest musicians in the world show off. Just the decision to perform almost purely dry without any effects and processing. My god.
11:09 Look at Guthrie's face, he's smiling while trying to keep the guitar-bass ostinato going over Marco's different drum time. Really shows they're having a lot of fun
i say it all the time with marco.. I was lucky enough to be at the modern drummer drum fest back in the 1990s. his first US show.. NOOOOOOObody at that show new what they just watched when he was done playing!! dude is an alien lol
Man their sound especially the first breakdown, took me back about 15 years ago… and took me about 15 hours to find the band that they reminded me of..Al Di Meola-Cruisin’
Great video and reaction, thanks. BB and MM played in Ahmet and Dweezil's band before the Aristocrats. They also were in some Satriani jam sessions. The're several videos of MM recording a tracks doing all the instruments himself.
That song is pretty artsy as like rock blues, jazz as all the different elements in that song I couldn’t describe it, but the way you describe it was amazing. Love your show. Thanks for putting that future. The drummer is amazing Marco nobody could like him. And our use dresses as feelings on their drums emotion touch when one person plays the drums and another person tries to play. The same thing never gonna sound the same even on guitar even on bass even syncing music is art.
After you mentioned "burning the sticks", I watched this and want to throw my guitar in the fire with your sticks...guessing some bass players are thinking the same!
When the band toured Australia several years ago, the second gig I saw them in Brisbane. Didn't have anything to sign but having come out of a movie hours before the show, I had a box of popcorn so they signed that instead. Loved their reactions too. Marco: "Popcorn?" Bryan: "First time for everything." Guthrie didn't say anything but still signed it like a good sport. 🤣 Such nice guys!
Andrew, It’s the same with all of them! The sound of those fantastic Mike Lull custom basses that Bryan Beller plays (I also play one of them as my main gigging instrument) is great, but it’s the same for his sound - it’s the sound of Bryan playing that bass, it’s not just the instrument. Your sound is in your hands and your brain.
A deliberate method they use to encourage the best from the trio is that they each write three songs designed to leverage the abilities of the others and themselves in each album. Nine songs every time. They all know they’re bad-asses and they challenge one another to bring it.
Random factoid, related trivia (because what is there even to say about them other than "incredible".) Senri Kawaguchi actually sat in for Marco on the song Erotic Cakes. There's a video somewhere, but the angle doesn't show her well at all, also of her doing some fun little stick tricks with Marco. Guthrie is a wizard btw.
A question I've long tried to find the answer to: where and when were drum fills first used? I always used to think it was Motown, but I'm trying of others.
Andrew great reaction! It would be hard find 3 musicians more in sync with each other - you've reacted to them a few times now and you still haven't done a full, Marco drum solo .I wish I could do a paid request for their song "Blues Trucker with an F" so you could see his solo with the best cymbal work I've ever seen - even if it doesn't make your channel you should watch it as a must see & then u'll probably put it on cause it'll floor ya
I hear ya , not fair, I don't play and even if I did this shit is other level good , and a joy to behold had another word in mind but forgotten how to spell it .
Andrew, did you change your video capture software? I'm having occassional popping during segments where you play the video. Happened with one of your other recent video, too. I don't see any complaints in the comments, so it's a little weird.
hey brow, came to see if saw that Eloy Casagrande leave sepultura, and all the fans are expecting him to join Slippknot. I think you should make a ideo to this!
Another nice video 👏🥂 thanks. We have an Amazing drummer here in Italy...the big maestro Tullio de Piscopo. I would be super Happy if you can look at him :)
Too bad the video was altered/made by a guitar w**ker... the guitar volume has either been boosted, or just made to ruin the rest somehow! I LOVE guthrie... the sound here is a disgrace though! Marco is phenomenal, so is the bassist.... The boosted guitar sound actually destroys the sensibilities of Guthries playing.... Great pick, and good reaction, Andrew, Marco Minnemann has always been up there..... This gig reminds me of seeing Scott Henderson & Tribal Tech all three times.... The virtuosity, the pocket, the insane level of being better than recording, and still play with excess ability to pour from...
I found this while searching to see if you had any reactions to Steven Perkins, yet. It’s a no and that’s kind of lame. I’d love to see you check out his live play along to “Who Are You” at Guitar Center. Or “Three Days” live from wherever.

YES ITS FREEDOM!
Sheer madness. No one is allowed to be this good.
Maybe it's about their names and surnames, beginning with the same letters...all three of them - GG, BB, MM 🤣
I'm a guitarist... I've been one for over 40 years ...
I agree. 100%
@@odderphaseyes, and also their Instruments begin with the same Letter. Guitar, bass and mrums! 😉
Best part of that drum solo is that it feels like it could fall apart and fail at any moment, but it doesn’t and that’s so exhilarating.
Playing on their instrument is literally as natural as speaking their mother tongue. Fluency. It's amazing to see

Comment. Of. The. Week.

Minds were blown, pieces of skull were found in Pluto's orbit.

As Vinnie Colaiuta said interviewed by Rick Beato: "thought is the enemy of flow"...
Need a looooot of mileage to get to that point
Sweaty Knockers is one of the all time great song names. I mean, who doesn't love knockers?
Titties and beer
Not just amazing players, but probably the best LISTENERS on the planet. 🙏
I know none of their songs but I would watch them perform live for hours.
11:09 Look at Guthrie's face, he's smiling while trying to keep the guitar-bass ostinato going over Marco's different drum time. Really shows they're having a lot of fun
These three are so perfectly matched....it's easy to overlook how amazing they each are individually. You just get lost in the sound of the trio.
i say it all the time with marco.. I was lucky enough to be at the modern drummer drum fest back in the 1990s. his first US show.. NOOOOOOObody at that show new what they just watched when he was done playing!! dude is an alien lol
Pure art, pure magic, pure music, 3 genius together, thats The Aristocrats
Thanks ... gonna have to do a deep dive on this trio ... wow!! 🦉🤟⚡🪨🍩
Not something I would put on my playlist but, wow, I'd love to see these guys perform live.
“It is a miracle.”
-Andrew Rooney, on The Aristocrats
Man their sound especially the first breakdown, took me back about 15 years ago… and took me about 15 hours to find the band that they reminded me of..Al Di Meola-Cruisin’

Ditto. These guys play with such absolute joy and comradery. They are always smiling. Smiling at themselves, the audience, the music, the dirt...
3 musicians that can play any style doing whatever they think sounds good. And what do ya know, it sounds good!
Yeah i saw the Aristocrats in Denver in 2015 and Marco played a 30 min drum solo best band on earth ever! Keep up the good work mate!
And yet again, jaws were dropped to the floor..
I've seen them four times, and they get better each time. Illegally good. :)
saw them live in DC a few years ago. tightest 3 piece I've ever seen/heard.

Love the vid Andrew, and I LOVE the Fear of the Dark shirt, I have that same shirt from over 20 years ago, probably my favorite band shirts I own.
Yes!!! 🤘

Guthrie is a wizard btw.
I'm also waiting for them to come to NZ my man. Maybe I'll see you at their show, or even in Australia
Great band
This is great but Marco's solo on blues fuckers from the same concert is absolutely on another level
You can just be comfortable here and expect everything to magically work. That's the beauty.
From a purely drumming perspective you need to check out blues fuckers live by them!
Marco Minnemanns duet with Mohini Dey is worth a reaction from you.
YES!! please do the mohini dey and marco minneman konnakol games, dear lord the musicianship!
A question I've long tried to find the answer to: where and when were drum fills first used? I always used to think it was Motown, but I'm trying of others.

Sweaty knockers best thing ever 🤣
Govan ist just incredible, very melodic.
By the way, Marco Minnemann plays guitar and plays it VERY WELL - almost as well as he plays the drums!
For this band, technical questions are no longer at the forefront; instead, the focus has shifted entirely to artistic expression.
That's the goal!
I think I’ve just suffered a ‘stank face cramp’ after ten minutes of that 😅
I got to see Bryan Beller play with Joe Satriani for the G3 Anniversary tour 👍
I believe the drummer and bassist toured with Joe Satriani!
Ze drummer is originally German, like me!
😁
Sounds like Tax return time at the local Guitar Center 😂😂😂
did you just insult murderface AND guthrie? you sir are an asshole
Marco got some good clips from his Drumeo session too 😊
By the way, the knockers did absolutely get sweaty the longer the video played 😂
I hear ya , not fair, I don't play and even if I did
this shit is other level good , and a joy to behold
had another word in mind but forgotten how to spell it .
Marco could play Rush or Tool etc.... any day , love watching him play
Cheers mate!🦆

Speaking of suggestive song names. Have you reacted to Erotic Cakes yet?
hi Аndrew Listen to Vicarius-False Alarm. This is the best I've heard in a while.
I found these Artists a year ago.
Your thoughts mimic mine, add Zapparesque to your review
hey brow, came to see if saw that Eloy Casagrande leave sepultura, and all the fans are expecting him to join Slippknot. I think you should make a ideo to this!
Andrew after watching that video do you ever fee like 'well mate guess i better put my kit on ebay." =/
Got more Aristocrats coming next week.
Def get that feeling. LOL
Guthrie Govan is one of the best to ever pick up a guitar
Another nice video 👏🥂 thanks. We have an Amazing drummer here in Italy...the big maestro Tullio de Piscopo. I would be super Happy if you can look at him :)
Sounds great! 🇮🇹
Not my bag but great musicians!
Needs more bass drum in the mix and a lot more bass guitar.
I had hard time to hear the drums, because the guitar's recorder way too loud.
Too bad the video was altered/made by a guitar w**ker... the guitar volume has either been boosted, or just made to ruin the rest somehow! I LOVE guthrie... the sound here is a disgrace though! Simply too much for one brain and two ears...
To bad the guitar player is so loud.
Just chops not a good song. No one writes songs anymore
