I'm confident that the audience members (including the many white family farmers) know what's up.

I don't think anyone in my home province of Prince Edward Island has ever heard of Todd. One night at open mike ( pre covid ), I threw in "I Can't Complain" to see if it would get a laugh. I got in the habit of doing that, even doing the talking ones like "Seattle Grunge Rock" and "The Kingsmen." One night, with enough liquid courage, all 4 of my allotted songs were Todd's; they seemed to like them.

Watch this at least 4 times a year, and have for the past 5 years. It usually cheers me up and makes me feel positive about the future. Todd Snider, I just love your music and your soul. I have been a fan for something like ten years. I want to tell you how happy I was that you came to Ohio some years back to play at Hookahville. I knew I was gonna enjoy everything so I hadn't bothered to look at the lineup. When we got to the gates my husband left me with our stuff while he went to find our people. Sitting there on the cooler, i heard this song, the one that made me cry and take note of your name the first time I heard it on Mountain Stage, coming from somewhere. I sat there on my cooler surrounded by strangers I knew I loved and cried again. When you got up on stage, that's when I found out you were actually there. I was tripping too hard to get out of my chair, but I hopped and hollered all through your set. ♥️

I have also met Todd, so I know he believes everything he said in the song, but he is a kind soul who can sit down and talk with people of other opinions. The problem with the country are the ones that can't...the Cowboy or hippie, conservative or liberal, Christian or not, we should all respect each other, but I don't see much of that in media from either side. Like it or not, white Christian males are discriminated against in this country, (much more now than when Todd wrote this song twenty years ago) and that's a shame, we should all be kind to each other.
