    Before buying a new motor, try this: remove the caps as he did in this excellent video and tighten the nuts. Pretty tight. Worked for me, saving about $100 at Carquest, who, btw, told me how to fix it.

      That is interesting. Were yours simply not gripping the splines on the motor?

      Same thing, here. If the bolt is moving and not the arm, it's not the motor.
      I took the arm off, cleaned it and tightened it back down tight.
      Voilà!

      That did fix our same problem last time it acted this way but unfortunatly this time the wiper motor went out.

      Thanks for the subscription! The lack of noise can be attributed to me moving to my new garage that has a LOT more space to produce better quality videos :). Glad the video was able to help you solve your problem.

    What are the red and black wires to the windshield for coming from the passenger wiper motor? We have them and can’t figure it out (or how to put them in place)

  • @302KingCobra

    For Information.... The driver and passenger side motors are the same. The difference is the bracket.

  • @dropndeal
    @dropndeal Рік тому

    To be accurate, vehicle sides are identified as follows: Left = Drivers, and Right = Passenger. The view is always when seated in the driver's seat.

      yes my bad. I was pretty dead tired when I filmed this video and I realized this post production.

    I wouldn't expect this method to always work. You're supposed to go through a celebration routine every time you work on the wiper system. If you get away doing it like in the video, that's fine. However, if it doesn't work, you'll need to program the actuators with a dealership level scan tool. I would make sure I had access to one before I took anything apart. I get these in all the time from other shops that aren't equipped to deal with this design.
    If you guy's are interested, the procedure I'm talking about is listed in the main workshop manual. The only thing missing are the wiring diagrams. If you use a service like All Data or MItchell, you'll get the exact same WM that Ford techs use.

      yes you're correct in stating the need for calibration. I have been actually quite fortunate in the few escapes that I have fixed this exact issue on that none need recalibration (presumably b/c the wipers were calibrated from the factory on the other cars - this was a used part from another escape. Your statement of needing calibration I'm sure would 100% apply to a new part since it would not have been programmed a "reference point".

      @@piercedasian I replaced the driver side motor with one from a used escape. It didn't work. I had to remove the control board from the original motor to get it to work.

    what do you think, my left wiper doesnt work, sometimes it smashes the top cover of the front window, the right side works perfect - the left no. i made a calibration today but still the same the right side answer all commands during calibration, the second no. if i turn off the ignition the problem left motor is makin a half circle like it should...

    • @piercedasian
      @piercedasian  10 місяців тому

      there is a very high chance the left motor is done for. The motors operate independently but the brains that control both are in the left motor and is a very common part that fails. I'd say replace the left motor and depending on the car it came off of (or if its new) that you may or may not need calibration. I was super lucky to not have to do a calibration on this car.

    Is it always the drivers side motor that fails and is it always the drivers side that has the sensor in

      Interesting question but on my Ford Escape repair video. I had PRK laser eye surgery years ago and did not need glasses for years. I wear reading glasses now and a VERY light prescription to sharpen up my vision when my eyes are a bit tired but otherwise my vision is still 20/20.

    Any links to the exact wiper motors you bought? I can only find them for 300 each. Is that correct?

    • @piercedasian
      @piercedasian  Рік тому +1

      sorry, my wiper motor was from the auto wreckers. They are stupid expensive so $300 sounds about right. You may need to take it to ford for recalibration as well so factor that into the cost. I got lucky b/c mine came off of a ford escape that had the wipers in the right position before the power was cut from it and dismantled.
