I'd advise everyone to flip through pages of old books they come across. In the late 90s, I was at a local charity shop that had a big box of books labeled "free" by the door. On my way out, I grabbed a Bible that looked pretty old. That evening, I found that it had 19 correspondence letters from the Civil War tucked into the pages. I sold them collectively about ten years ago, and made enough money to buy a slightly used pickup truck.
@@robihood Hi, I put them on the auction block. They far exceeded my expectations, though looking back, I wish I'd recorded their written content to an online archive for posterity. Some of them were quite powerful, and mentioned details of famous battles. The subjects were a couple living in the Confederacy(South Carolina), a banker and his wife. The husband fought with a Southern regiment, though they were principally Union sympathizers. I learned during online research that both survived the war, and one of their daughters lived on to be one of the last surviving people born in the Confederacy. How their family history ended up in a charity shop free box in Reno, NV is anyone's guess.
Wife's Grandma and Grampa (retired from railroad) lived in Salida. We live in Delta, near GJ, and have been selling books for a long time. I find your quick insight on point.
The matchbox bar???...in salida??...I always went to devils head lookout on weekends...fun,beautiful place to go...Turkey creek canyon??yes,,,best view of pikes peak?!!!.😯😯..tnx,pat,land o' lakes,wi.
I paid 10 cents for a decent used paperback at a thrift shop years ago. It was by Bobby Fischer the chess champ. It was above my head so i looked it up on ebay. People were paying $36 to $40 bucks plus shipping. I sold it.
I have Colorado blood running through my veins, grew up in GJ Co. Now I live out of state. Question: I do not have alot of time on my hands, what s the best way to find rare books, for less then the high prices on the internet. Any ideas for me?
Not really. No specific places were the “hot spot” like ARC value village or garage sales at 3p on Saturday?! Ha ha or church ⛪️ sale?! Regard this is where I imagined them…! But I think I have given places YOU COULD actually find books for less and resell for more.
Library book sales are great especially the $5 bags sales are my jam lol 😆 I just stuff as many books as I can in my bags as possible. I’ll run into duds but that’s the name of the game. Lol I found a book signed by Donald Trump worth at my local friends of the library. I also found Unintended Consequences by John Ross & it was signed. Found that one at a library book sale. Both sell for around $300-400. Stick with the library sales.
It isn't banned. Stephen King had printings stopped of this book after the school shooting in Columbine. I have two copies of this book in The Bachman Books. It is the four that King wrote under that pen name. One in hardback and one in soft cover.
I'm always hunting esoteric anthroperdermic manuscripts .... particularly from the inception of the Golden dawn onward.... not opposed to Kellners group.

Did you auction them or just sell them for a set price on ebay?
