Dude, thank you! I was afraid I wouldn’t get my $100 from my new PS2. I had the same catching issue you discovered toward the end. Fortunately, nothing needed replacing and I think all I had to do was detach and realign the track. It’s up and running now!
I watch lots of repair/mod channels and most of them are just like "slap some solder here, glue that there, done!" But you seem to know what you're doing and not just following a google tutorial.
My disc drive works but the tray dosent stay out long enough to be able to place a game in the tray. The tray comes out and then once it has made its full travel it immediately goes back in.
hello what happens when you pushed the eject button and stopped it half way with youre finger then it closeson its own can it harm something? , also what you close the disc tray without pressing the eject button
Fantastic work. My disc tray gets stuck, but I don't have the luxury of having a spare one. Nor do I have lithium grease. Dunno if I'll even attempt to fix this. Ha Awesome video cheers.
Its rather simple as long as you’re careful and take your time. I’ve opened TONS of these, even some of the worst ones come back to life with a full cleaning, at worst it’ll need a new laser but they’re pretty easy to do if you follow and learn from the right guide!
I have the fat s2, the blue discs work, but the silver ps2 discs not and regular dvd movies also do not work. Can someone tell me which part i should replace?
So I just cleaned mine out and now it doesn't seem to be getting a signal, and the eject button light isn't on, ik the holder for the disc drive cable was loose so hopefully that didn't come back out even tho last time I checked it seemed fine.. ugh
yes some games load better on the fat ps2 then the slim also sometimes with the slim it gets frozen on certain games example on legend of dragoon when you switch one of the disk i think 3 it frezze it and you cant continue on others cut scenes take forever to load while you hear the disk spining hard
I dont know if you still check the comments, but my dumb ass took out the disc tray and ran it wondering if i could see what was going on with mine but the everything started going crazy until i shut it off. I tried to reset the components but now when I set the disc tray in, it moves out slightly then pulls back in. Did i just break it or is there a fix for this? Edit: I dont know if i shouldve but the white gears that drive the tray, I turned them so the laser was all the way back up, set the tray back in and it fixed my issue.
That would be amazing if he did I saw a few UA-camrs doing other repairs like computers and phones this would be a first I’ve seen if he did good question

where did you get the front bezel for the disk tray , its either missing or broken on my ps2 fat model and I want to get a new one

How did you put the disc tray cover with the PS logo back on?
It clicks back on but be careful or you will snap the clips on the ends then it will not stay on anymore
