Hi Steve? I watched recently all your older video. Your voice way more 'normal' rather current one, lol. Love both of them but back then, your hair a bit thicc 🤣
The buzzing noise comes from the manual eject screw after someone ejected a disc manually. It keeps spinning when the gears are moving while inserting a disc (like in this case in your video 7:34) and it is not supposed to do so, it is supposed to stay still while the disc drive is taking discs the automated way, reseating it will fix the issue. This can happen to a PS4 disc drive too

I actually had the exact same issue on my ps5 when I was trying to fix the extremely loud disc drive. Eventually I found out if I just took out the spindle and re-seated the top metal piece it fixed the issue. The buzzing went away on its own, but its still noisy.

This has happened to a lot of ps5s. It's because of a video on UA-cam that is showing people how to "fix a loud disk drive". But it ends up doing this to the ps5. I did it to mine, but luckily I was able to fix it.
Thanks, Steve had a PS5 come in last week with HDMI issues had a noisy disc drive very noisy gears grinding not taking discs. I took it apart reset the mechanisms and made sure the gearing was set right luckily this part was ok on this PS5 no shaving was needed to the plastic. This fixed the noisy disc drive I suspect it was caused by the console falling when the HDMI was broken.
7:36 that noise is that screw and it means its slightly loose. I guess whatever broke that one gear tooth did loosen whole train. maybe you could lubricate that one screw that is rotating and eating that plastic around itself ? maybe that's the vibration source.
I was wondering if the screw was meant to spin. Otherwise I don’t know how he or anyone watching the video could have missed it. He points right at it seconds before it starts to spin and rattle.

Plastic gears are usually after market and not custom. But if they are maybe it is time to look into a cheap desktop injection molding machine and determine a mold of the gears to make on demand. It's a small investment, but it would support all future consoles as well as give you the ability to sell them as spare parts.
Hi, You should have used Vaseline petroleum jelly to lubricate that plastic gear, it works amazingly good when something this sort of happens with gears.
I think this "sliding-under" mechanism is prone to failure. Seems like every time you eject the spinning game disc, the white disc will also spin and cut into this lever mechanism. I wonder how often the owner switches game discs.
Another one saved! If you want to experiment with gear lubrication, go to a hobby shop that sells RC cars and buy different shocks oil weight and gear lubricants, until you find one you like (I like the Associated silicon lube grease). Magical skills, by the way!
