    Amigos...

    I was in college with Patrick Depailler. Dental technician training. I drove once (and only once!!!) behind him on a Norton 500 in 1963 in the streets of Clermont Ferrand... Epic!
    And another time with him on a Fiat 650 Abarth. I see the entrance porch of the hospital where vehicles normally enter at a walk! With him it was at full speed .... with the welcome of the Management who did not appreciate of course .... Dear Patrick disappeared too soon

    What a nice memory to this extraordinary car in this kind condition and to Patrick Depailler. I remember nearly all details, because in the late 70th I built a Tamiya-model of it in scale 1/12, very true copied, with the driver Jody Scheckter 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

      Those Tamiya kits were fantastic. They taught me how F1 cars work.

      @@ventisette. I nearly built all available tamiya-cars of F1 in scale 1/12, from item to item more and more skilled, also the sportscars of Porsche, Carrera 6 and Porsche 910. Today I only from time to time I am in daubt if I should start again with a Ferrari 312B of 1970, driven by Ragazzoni, Ickx and Andretti. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.
      There is an DVD existing, how they restaurated an old 312B under support of Mauro Forghieri, who same weeks ago passed away. His ears had been detectors of any irregular silent noises in the flat 12 cylinder-engine, he constructed also. And if they investigated, they really found some small defect.

      First ever run since rebuild, was running very rich and struggled to start from cold. But you have no idea how LOUD it is! Full original spec titanium exhaust while the other Cosworth powered cars there were running stainless. Probably the loudest car at the event, even more than the V10 Jaguars.

    Does somebody knows why there was a yellow stripe (and yellow number) on Depailler's Tyrrell ?

    • @ventisette.
      @ventisette.  Рік тому

      That was just their livery for 1976. Some teams have different coloured numbers or stickers on their cars to help tell the drivers apart, but the 1976 Tyrrells were identical apart from the race number.

    Were these six wheel cars successful? I don’t recall

    • @ventisette.
      @ventisette.  Рік тому +2

      They were OK in 1976, won one race, but Goodyear was not able to develop the front tyres enough the following season. I’ve been told the tyres Avon makes these days for it are very good, and the car is very precise to drive despite being heavier than competitors.
