So wonderful, it's actually painful to watch. They're really on another level, live. Such a good vibe, like a religious experience, a secret only shared between others who love them, who "Get it". Thank you so much for posting!
To me, it seems like she took all the best music from the 60s, 70s, and 80s, mixed it all in a bowl of peace, love and happiness, and more or less invented alternative music for the 90s and beyond.
What a formerly undiscovered joy (by me) ... late for the party, as usual. I lived in Dallas in 1988 and heard "What I Am" and thought what kind of stoned funk is this? I dismissed her early. Only to have discovered her last week in a movie called "The Way Way Back" ... I heard the sweetest voice I ever heard singing in the beginning of a movie and had to zip to the end to find out who it was. And I went, "THAT is Edie Brickell?" Not only is her voice the sweetest I have ever heard, and sorry not to be part of that circle who could sing her songs back to her in a live venue, but her facial expressions are a delight for this reason: I am hard of hearing. I can't "hear" a song without seeing the words being sung. And Edie's face is so expressive and her words so clear, I can lip read her and hear the words better. Her obvious joy in performing a well loved song is also a joy. How many times can I say the word joy to describe having found this video through a movie from 2013? I tried to put a comment on the song from the soundtrack on her youtube page, but comments are disabled. Kind of like I'm disabled, only different. Edie, I am sorry I dismissed you in 1988 and want to thank you for sticking around long enough til I "got it".
Edie reminds me of my true soul mate and the higher USAF said she didn't measure up to an officer's wife. Since 1986-87, I miss Fran. 40+ women from one night stands years ago, one failed marriage, two long term women and one of them currently who I love with all my heart. Men, when you find true love and she loves you, never let anyone influence your desire to accept her as your wife. Experience from a 65 y/o. The years have flown by & we're old.
love it. these smaller more personal, and not so professional performances are often the best. brings forward a sense of warmth and lovingness as good as any. Circle is as good as What I Am - so warm - that we're all going through same challenges in life. You get that sense of group, because you see someone singing the same feelings you're having. No matter what you do, it's almost never good enough for others, is it? But, it's enlightening to know that same feeling is in all of us. Personally, I think Capitalism wrecks a lot for us in life (in relationships) - in it's current form, anyways. A semi-subsistance, more self-less lifestyle not focused on ownership and amount of stuff you have or do - is much much more conducive to happiness. Even being focused on "making something of yourself" (too much) is not conducive with a strong sense of happiness - cause you're focused on yourself. Questions like "What I am", "Who am I", - not relevant in the happy world. Questions like "what are you up to?" is much more relevant in the happy world.
Edie doesn't need makeup and could like like a top model in a paper bag. She is just a very naturally beautiful woman with the most infectious smile. She reminds me of Katherine Hepburn.
30 years later and she is just as fine.
Why do i feell like dropping everything and cry when i hear Circle ...

Always have been mad at paul simon for taking her from us...
Paul Simon is one lucky bastard.

Like little miss priss in her Mini dress
Little Miss S* 😉
Wow! Incredible performance! Hard to believe such creative beauty in today's Republican & Abbott hemorrhoid Texas. What happened?
female bob marley and popeye
Would have been so much better if the audience hadn't "helped" with the singing. I hate when people do that.
She's great but aged not so we'll. She kinda looks like Nancy Piloski
You're just envious
Let's see you at 51. Silly @ss Millenial!
She is a bright light :)
You're a moron.
