- The day before most lakes open in southern Alberta we head to Rock lake. Rock lake is one of the few lakes that are open all year in Alberta. We use the opportunity to dust off some equipment and get ready for big opener may 8th. With beautiful (just slightly overcast) weather and clear water on Rock lake we manage to catch a number of pike in just a few hours using William wobbler spoons and Lyman lures, trolling and casting. Hope you enjoy the episode!

I like that stretch of are you were in. Got some nice fish in that lake.
Nice day out there and some great catches. Passed by there and thought I should give it a try at some point, thanks for the heads up.
Pops was on fire!! Those were some nice pike. 💪🎣
Nice to see you back in the action! Dad stick to the ol' silver spoon, yoir dad always using classic staple fishing gear 😎
Very nice way to start year...was supposed to go walleye/pike fishing tomorrow...unfortunately the entire area around Lake is on fire...LOL....
Thank you, hopefully they get those fires under control and you can get out soon 🤙😎
@@FishBigAlbertawhich part of the lake do you recommend ice fishing?
@@narcissist11I sent a message on your last question but there is also a spot sorta in the mid part of the lake out in the middle that drops from about 8 feet into 10-11 feet and would be good also.
@@FishBigAlberta thank you
Hi, found you through the comments section of Raul Garcia Fishing and Outdoors channel. figured I'll stop by to show some support. subbed. Love to catch me a pike someday.
Awesome! I’ll give a sub back 🤙😎
Do you ever ice fish rock lake? Where on the lake do you recommend ice fishing?
I’ve actually only ice fished rock lake once or twice but there is a spot on the north shore line about 200 yards west from the boat launch that would have good potential. It’s about 15 feet deep not very far from shore.
@@FishBigAlberta thanks so much, im headed out there tomorrow!
@@narcissist11 sorry I don’t have a lot of good info on rock lake but I hope that helps and you catch a bunch 🤙😎
@@FishBigAlberta no worries man, I got aqua view and a live scope and a nice warm igloo hut. I’ll try your recommended locations first and if not I’ll find them lol thanks again.
@@FishBigAlberta thought I’d give you an update. The East end of the lake had open water. We fished about 150 yards west of the boat launch. 14ft of water 6 inches of ice Between 2 of us we caught 12. The biggest about 25 inches, so nothing big but still fun none the less!
