- Trapping cats for TNR with Operation Fancy Free. Once again, the cats were not as cooperative as we had hoped they would be..
Since 2013 Operation Fancy Free (comprised of the 2 people who started the nonprofit) has been responsible for the spay/neuter of over 4500 community cats! Bryan and Kathy work tirelessly to make sure more unwanted cats are not born in this area.
Please check Operation Fancy Free out of Facebook if you would like to support their mission!

Thank you for posting this video! Our neighborhood has a surley, large tom that is extremely wary. I like the design of your drop trap and I believe my husband and I could make something like this. I was looking into buying a Tomahawk. Though they are fantastic drop traps, I would rather save that money for more TNRs. Thanks again! 😻
I have tried for days now to catch a feral cat . She will not go in the small cat trap . I really need to try the drop trap but I dont know where I can get one . I like the one in the video .
Great work it will all happen in time and with patience Have a great day
Great video! You guys are awesome😻😸😺😽
Thank you so much!!
Lmao bobtail biznich
Hi, where can i get a cage like that?
Cute ❤❤
I think the cat didn't want to go into the carrier after being trapped because the carrier was covered. I think the thing that usually makes them rush into the carrier is that it seems like an escape when uncovered. This cat just saw a black hole and that is likely why it avoided going into it.
Thank you for the video. I am makeing a drop trap out of PVC and don't know exactly how to make the door. Do you have any videos making this trap?
I don’t- I really need to make one- I get a lot of questions about it! I do know that Bryan recently made a new one, and used rivets to put it together because the Previous design made it impossible to repair just one piece.
tell us how you made the trap. what the dimensions.please
Great work! Great trap! I'm trying to find similar netting but can't quite locate that same type; Can you share what it is exactly, or where you it came from? Thanks!! Excellent work!!
Thank you! If I am not mistaken, it is material from something like a tennis net.
I would love to learn how to make a drop trap like that. In Japan they are non-existent but there IS a huge cat overpopulation problem. My organization is lucky to have a Tomahawk drop trap, but many other Japanese trappers can't afford one.
I believe there might be schematics somewhere on the Alley Cat Allies website. It is PVC pipe and tennis netting. Good luck! Just curious, is spay and neuter expensive in Japan? The cost varies greatly in the US, depending on the area.
@@WVPetProject It depends! The concept of TNR has really only been around for the last 5-10 years in Japan. Even today, some colony caretakers pay full price per cat at a regular vet 😱
While TNR clinics can be hard to come by in rural Japan (mine is over an hour away and appointments can be hard to get because she is so popular/affordable), there is an Animal Foundation that provides free TNR tickets that covers the cost of the surgery and then volunteers just pay for the cost of vaccination, dewormer, and anesthesia.
So, with tickets it’s anywhere from ¥2000-¥6000 ($15-$45), without tickets at a TNR clinic, it’s about ¥5000-¥10,000 ($38-$75), and at a regular vet it’s about ¥15,000-¥30,000 ($113-$225).
Did you make the trap??
Yes, Bryan did- but there are drop traps that can be purchased.
