- The main mission for the upcoming multiplayer mode of WolfQuest: Anniversary Edition will be territorial acquisition and maintenance, and we’ve been working on tuning the territory mechanics in recent weeks. Today we look at how players can claim territory, through marking (raised leg urination) and creating more established scent posts, as well as howling, hunting, and winning fights with stranger wolves. This has taken numerous rounds of tweaking and testing as we adapt the system that Tommi refined for the upcoming Slough Creek episode for the Amethyst map, where players don’t have a litter of pups to care for, and so can devote more time to their territories. We couldn’t do it without our dedicated corps of private beta testers, who are working hard to help us get the game ready for a public beta in the not-too-distant-future.

We have released the first episode of WolfQuest 3: Anniversary Edition (Amethyst Mountain) for PC/Mac on Steam and itch.io, as Early Access. While in Early Access, we are updating the game frequently with more features, multiplayer, and ultimately the Slough Creek episode with pups. The mobile version will come after the game is completed on PC/Mac platforms. We’ll then resume development of the next episode, Tower Fall (DLC).

this game is my childhood and each time it gets an update, whether through the vlogs or game itself, i feel like the excited kid again 10 years ago! its so exciting to see a game that has always had sentimental value grow alongside me. i'm 20 now and this game will never leave my life :')

@@WolfQuestGame please help my wolfquest amethyst mountain map will not load correctly the loading screen with the bear or elk will show up then stay there for 3 mins then force close and go to my PC home screen my lost river load beautifully and has no problems what's so ever sooo...idkkk what to do I got the game but can only play one map that I've been playing since it came out....I want to be able to play amethyst mountain in the snoww

I really want to see the dream system in the game become more important. Like it'a a warning on how soon your pups will arrive, a foreshadowing to the attack of a bear or cougar, or some way of telling a story like the past of your wolf. I think small touches like that really make the game that much more interesting!
This game is about realism in nature and based off of rl wolves and other
animals. I don't think something like this is ever going to be added. Cool idea though

Good title wolfquest, I love this game, and have 2.7 on my iPad. All I need to do is to get the full game, and wait for you to finish the game on computer. Also, can you please add pronghorns and Black bears, and maybe the plane that comes when you put the radio collar too?

I think it's really nice of you guys to be asking how roleplayers work and trying to alter the game into their way of play instead of just saying, 'Welp, you guys are banned again,' since the old rules said that. I really appreciate this, thank you so much!
I've never been a multiplayer gal (no mutual interests among my friends, lol), but all the stuff you've been posting about multiplayer mode has me hyped, not going to lie. And I *think* I might be able to convince a few friends into giving it a try as well

Another suggestion, you know how in the old game we could choose to stay on territory a lil longer or go to slough creek? Maybe in the new game, in singleplayer if we choose to stay can we make a territory at amethyst but we cant have pups?

Will multiplayer be easier or harder for your pc to run? Basically, if my pc is able to run WQ3 on the lowest graphics, will I still be able to play multiplayer? Great video, can’t wait for the release 😊
Yeah, I have to play it in the lowest graphics too. But it would be really cool if it would work in multiplayer too!

Have any of you tried running the game on high graphics, but without shadows? Little less polished or detailed but still worked wonders for me.
@@Ominous_Odyssey Yes, but for me it doesn't seem to make a difference. It lags badly on high graphics even with shadows off, and my fps will go down to 5 or even 2. But what seems to effect my game the most is the GRASS. I can't even have grass at all. On the lowest graphics, my game gets around 12 fps if i have the smallest amount of grass, and then there are really bad lag spikes. Without grass, it goes up to between 20-30 fps... still bad, but playable at least, and the lag spikes go away.
And, my screen resolution has to be lower too. I don't put it on the lowest resolution because it looks really bad, tho. The trees get really fuzzy and pixelated. My game MIGHT run on medium graphics if I used the lowest resolution, but ah... I think it wouldn't be worth it. It would probably look too pixelated.
EDIT: Lost River seems to run a lot better for me though, probably because the map size is much smaller than amethyst.

I remember not liking multi-player as a kid because I wanted to go hunt the bull elk, basically trying to replicate the experience from all those animal documentaries I used to watch, and no one would Co operate. Maybe I will retry multi-player once I get a better PC.

Omg, I am watching on low speed data so the video is grainy, and for about half the video I thought the wolf's name was Leach XD. Oof, this looks super fun! Honestly though, its amazing how even on the lowest graphic settings the gane still looks beautiful and amazing. You guys are doing an awesome job on the game, the time it takes will be so worth it when the full game is out.

Something I really hope they add in Multiplayer is the ability to toggle pack territories. In roleplay servers, most people want to write and create stories rather than mark territory, and personally, I wouldn't enjoy being attacked by a pack of strangers while trying to hang out with my pals.

Love it! I’m so excited for all of it. I don’t have anyone to play multiplayer with and I’m a bit nervous to find new players due to a bad encounter in WQ 2.5 that involved ‘saving spots’, but maybe I’ll strike up the courage.
On another note, I was wondering how accounts would work. Will it be the same as in 2.7 with the code strategy? Or will it be something like, singing in with an email account, then creating a username and password? I love how its looking you guys, keep up the amazing work!
P.S. if we want to try public beta testing, but downloaded it on itch.io instead of steam, could we still try public beta testing another way? I’d love to be a beta tester, but I’m not sure I have the right tools for it.

So happy to see this game improving more and more, I haven't played it much for a while cuse one sitting in my chair gets uncomfortable even after just a minute of sitting there but I'm also eagerly awaiting for multiplayer and the pups. I'm trying to save up for a laptop as it's just more comfertble to sit in my bed lol so hopefully I can get back to playing around with again it soon. ahhhh, this is so COOL -- I can't wait :DDDD Have you considered that part of the balance issues between Slough Creek and Amethyst might be related to the different hex sizes? Like, maybe I'm mistaken, but it looks like the Amethyst hexes are a good bit bigger than the Slough Creek ones. If you have to do a certain amount of work to claim one hex, then it seems like it would be easier to claim the whole map on a map where the hexes are bigger, right?

Once in 2.7 on the way to the rendezvous one of my pups mysteriously died, and the only enemy there was a FOX so yes....

Foxes generally avoid competition both wolves and coyotes because there so smol. They might try to get around to a carcass every once in a while but I don't think their a threat to the pups. Wolf pups are probebly about half the size of a fox by the time they emerge and are probebly the same size when the move to the rendezvous. Im not for sure but its a rough estimate. Killing a wolf pup would mean almost certain death for a fox so I dont think they would be a threat.
