~Tapping into Your Potential Where Others Saw None~
These guys were everywhere in the late 60s I can remember riding around in my car with my buddies and listening to Grand Funk Railroad with the volume turned up on my 8 track tape player and smoking weed what a great time to be alive wouldn't have missed it for the world
Goosebumps! So haunting, sorrowful, and beautiful. NOTHING Mark Farner sings is “trash.” It’s all good. Thanks for the reaction. 👍
100% correct
I haven't heard Mean Mistreater in many years. Certainly not with an orchestra or even seeing it live. Headphones on and Loud. This was a treat!
This is the first time I've seen this version, WOW he's so soulful! Voice of a generation!
Its all the same guys
After listening to GF for 40 years, I never realized how great Mark’s vocals were. Let’s take a step back and give him the credit he deserves!
Yes this is the original Three members accompanied by a great orchestra.
LFR, you are not over reacting, you know a great voice and song when you hear it! Good reaction brother!
Love It! Rock & Roll Soul is another fav of mine from GFRR
Van, the opening music was from the studio version of “I’m Your Captain/Closer to my Home”. This is why you have to react to the Studio version!
Great great great song!!!! I agree with you, there is something about this that moves your soul!!!!
I grew up on "grand funk" Mark farner has a awesome voice.
“Heartbreaker”.
That was beautifully done & I'm glad you really liked it. Being as you do, listen to the original studio version too. It is indeed a very good song.
Stevie Ray Vaughan talked about the harmonics & vibrations of different songs hitting different people different ways, creating strong reactions & feelings. This one hit you that special way.
Speaking of SRV, still hoping you do "Couldn't Stand the Weather" live in Austin (highlights each bandmember). And "Life Without You" at the Capitol Theater (written for a dear friend who passed unexpectedly, astounding performance with a lovely message in the middle directly from Stevie's heart).💙☮💙
Saw them live twice in early 70 s. Never left there without knowing they left it all on stage
When I was a kid in Michigan (1970s), we would play around the tracks of the dilapidated Grand Trunk Railroad tracks that ran near my home. Peace.
I grew up in Detroit in the '70s. Music was the best and GFR was part of the sound track of my childhood!
Oh, Mr. Van - I KNEW you'd love this 1! You KNOW you're bad when you "come back" with a full orchestra. Just heart-breaking soul! If you want to hear the flip-side, you could react to "Rock 'n' Roll Soul". Also, "We're An American Band", their signature, & "Are You Ready?", GFR's spin on a classic. Thanks for loving & sharing their sound.
It's cool to be blessed with a good singing voice
Yes, that is the original line up of Grand Funk Railroad. Mark, Don and Mel. Perfection!
1970. Soph year in HS. Grand Funk Railroad!!! Mean Mistreater from the album , ' Closer To Home' It drips w melancholic sweetness. My favorite GFR song.
still great after 50 years of performing, etc. were great to start with, saw them at Texas International POP Festival by Dallas in Sept. Holiday weekend of 1969. Time Machine. A couple of weeks after Woodstock!
Super super song from Grand Funk Railroad ! One of my favorites .
I think this man can play most any instrument. Helluva musician.
this is what ballads used to sound like..
Mark Farner’s vocals age like a fine wine.....
one of my favorite songs all time.
I loved this man since the 60s
Awsome song and these guys are older and still jam .
And yes original
One of my favorites! Mark is much older here. I believe they did this originally in the 70's.
He plays a mean guitar, Harmonica and piano/organ. I love the original. Check out the original.
must have been around mid to late 40s???
All of them best live band in the 70s
Perfection as smooth as butter.
As usual another great reaction!!! you do realize this concert was 27 years after they first released this song, they played it when I saw them at 13 years old in 1970.
First time seeing this rendition of this song.
It's Farner's voice. He Is Grand Funk Railroad! and those 2 other guys backstabbed him and legally got him booted from the band. They tour as Grand Funk, but they are not Grand Funk Railroad without Mark Farner. I could be wrong, but I think this was around the time they got back together just before they screwed Farner. Peace
Yeah, Don and Mel cut out the heart of Grand Funk when they cheated Mark out. Now they're just a tribute band playing at the Indian casinos in Michigan
@@suecook1326 There is "No Grand Funk Railroad" without Mark F. I don't care what anyone says, this is fact and true! Like you said they took the soul and heart out of the band without Mark. So sad. But hey Mark is doing fine on his own and still playing guitar even better now. Lead singer, keyboards, piano, harmonica, writes the songs, guitar, and yes I've even seen him play drums when he does concerts on his own. You can check all of Mark's concert and such on youtube thru the years. They are everywhere and easy to find. He plays a lot of the good old songs, including "Inside looking out, heartbreaker, mean mistreater, etc..
yup shafted him royally up the proverbial!! was just after this......i think it was engineered so they could oust him.he thought they were all back together as mates again.....
Favorite. Tune. Since. It. Came. Out. !💝🎆🎆🎆🎆🎆🎆🎆🌃🎇ur. Reaction. Is. So. Cool.
' I can feel him in the morning ' is another great great tune by this great band. You will truly enjoy this track.
I totally agree...
one of my alltime fave gfr tracks!!!
Wonderful song. Has a great feel.
Excellent song. You are right for sure.
This is such a fantastic song of theirs. Love Grand Funk
Yes. That’s the original members. That’s Mark Farner on piano, this time.
AHHHH the ill fated reunion.97,they betrayed him after this!!! a little bit older here but still his voice every bit as good.
This is my first time hearing this version of the song. I still think the original live version from their "Grand Funk Live Album" is better. It's from 1970 and much more raw in remastered form. From the same album is a song called "Heartbreaker" similar stylings.
ua-cam.com/video/l5KgdAa1qjw/v-deo.html
Love that album! Just another reminder that today's music sucks!
Maybe a little better, but Mark’s Vocals are still superb! He didn’t ruin his voice from Heroin and whiskey, or other strong drugs!
If you liked the orchestra , then give a listen to The Good the Bad and the Ugly by the Danish Symphony Orchestra . it will blow your mind
Are they the original guys... yes absolutely. Been a fan since 1970.
Next one by GFR to check: HOOKED ON LOVE. Studio version is killer and any live version with backup singers. Might be my fav GFR song ever.
Yes Van... Although they are older than footage you've been viewing, I see all three of the original band.
One of my all time favorite Grand Funk Railroad tunes and this was an exceptional cut I have not heard . Thanks to whom ever requested it.
I only live about 60 miles from the rock and roll hall of fame. But I will not go there until Grand Funk is inducted. What a great injustices.
INTO THE SUN LIVE1970 🔥🔥🔥
Yes there are 3 members
THANK YOU! 💗💗💗💗💗
Mind blowing that gfr isn't in the rock n roll hall of fame. Unbelievable! Thankfully reactors like you bring this great band to us to enjoy. Ty so very much lfr fam!!
SIGUEN SIENDO FANTASTICOS ,MARK ME ENCANTAS
I’ve been singing this in the shower for 40 rears and I sound damn good LOl
GRAND FUNK RAILROAD, " MEAN MISTREATER ".. IN THE LATE 60'S THIS WAS MY FIRST EXPOSURE TO G.F.R. A MOST FANTASTIC SONG. THE VOCALS WITHOUT QUESTION THE BEST ROCK'N SOUND.
Check out " heartbreaker " by GFRR, thank me later Jack!
Wow.........Thank you!
i once seen grand funk the doors and chicago for 3.50 what a show
Yes all original band members.
Mark Don and Mel absolutely the best
Good song, Great Performance !
My very favorite song of Grand Funk ever from the moment I first heard it some 50 years ago! (Made me cry like a baby) 🥰
Mark wrote this when he had his piano delivered to his place he sat in the middle of the room on his own and played it imagine how hauntingt that would be.??? this man has so much talent it oozes out of his pores!! hey do you think im a BIG GFR fan.Yes this was the original drummer don brewer but again check out the stroy of what happened.
Loved seeing this. I saw them in concert in '72, and this has always been my favorite song of theirs. Didn't know this video existed. Thank you.
He has the rest of the band with him, Don on the drums and Mel on Bass
This song is magic bro
You should go back and see the old recording of this song when they were younger.
Great vocal Mark!
My band. Saw them at Cincinnati Pop Festival 1970. So much passion and energy. Try their song "I can feel him in the morning", sung by drummer Don Brewer. Two outstanding vocalists in one band. Thanks for showing them respect......
I was there - at the palace in Detroit - it was amazing....first song I recall after the 15 minute intermission
IT’s SOOO GOOD !!!
Great song
Thanks again for another version of one of our favorites... check out the original for sure
Been watching ya! Hope your still on. I'm a big GFR fan. Love you love em!

Yes
GREAT ALL THE WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
Yes it is the original drumer
The original version was a little eerie. Reminded me some of Bloodrock's "DOA."
I told you it was a great one/**** ..... Check out the original from 1970
Van, you need to listen to entire we re an American band album. Rock and funk personified. That was them at their peak
Love it!
You overdid yourself!!! You are the real Mac Daddy. Great stuff.
You need to see them in 72 live at Madison Square Garden. It was broadcast on live TV on a Friday night . I was in hi skool ...The concert is on UA-cam..free.
If you had seen GF RR live, back in the day, it would have blown your mind.
Grand Funk were an awesome band & this song was their pinnacle. I love this song. They had few hits but this one hit the mark...

Paul Shaffer dirigent of Orchestra
beautiful song//you heard right lol
This is from their 30th Anniversary Tour. Check out the the version from theU.S. First LIVE Album! It rocks! Also check out the song Lonliness from this tour! Yes they are the original band members! Paul Schaffer from the Letterman show is conducting the Detroit Symphany orchestra!
This was definitely the original trio plus an orchestra.
Grand Funk should have re-released this as an updated single in 1997 when this concert took place. This would have been huge!
They evolved from inside looking out.
Do more GFR live, Into the Sun, TNUC, Inside looking Out, We are an American Band, and many more!!!
You still haven't seen one of their most popular songs. look for We're an American Band (1973 Studio Footage)
Listen to the original with your headphones, it will set you free. This was 1997/98. They were one of the biggest selling tours that year. It was their 25th anniversary reunion tour.
☮️💜
THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!🤟😍 please do more GFR 🙏
