I know a person in their mid 20s that worked their show in okc and was chatting with Mark Farner side stage before it opened. She said " I was taking a break and that old guy that sings with the band is actually pretty cool he walked up and we talked til I had to go back to work." I was floored, you talked to Mark Farner??
      She said whos that?
I said the vocalist of Grand funk railroad! Oh the band, yeah I guess so.
Just a job to her, almost legendary to me.

Mark don't need Don Brewer nor Mel Schacher! Mark Farner is Grand Funk Railroad! Mark wrote the majority of GFR songs, he was the lead singer and the lead guitar player. Mark don't need Brewer or Schacher who voted him out of the band after they formed a three member corporation but Mark Farner didn't realize what he had signed, the other two founding members Brewer and Schacher voted him out of the band and they play under the GFR banner but it took three new members to do what Mark did on his own in the band. Brewer and Schacher will never be GFR and the fans know it. Mark Farner is Grand Funk Railroad period.

The first time I ever heard of a song titled Paranoid it was there's, not another groups whose initials are BS. And I still like GFR's best. And Mark Farner all that time was playing an aluminum bodied, and neck guitar.. These guys deserve recognition. Get the Capitol Collection, 30 years of Funk, or Caught in the Act, which another group ripped that off. Or the "Live" album. These guys paved the way for a lot of people. And put out a ton of great music.

They were known when they started out as not being able to play their instruments. Not a personal observation, it was their reputation at the time.

@@howie9751 That's okay some people didn't get what 'raw rock funk" was...they took it as a negative but it most definitely was a positive. Their HUGE ALWAYS PACKED Concerts proved that...tickets sold out every where they went..Mark and the other two knew EXACTLY what they were doing...all very talented..unique and very RAW and powerful...it comes from "inside" you can't pretend or fake that..

That's the first drummer that I've seen play that correctly note for note !! Thank you !! Not too difficult, but I've seen so many drummers mess that up for some reason. Great job, sir !!
