Ok. So I will be there the end of October with my kids (20 and 16) and my old man. Would love a walking tour and go eat good food. Really. You should absolutely do this. 😊
Thanks! I don't mind the talking. This was a part of my daily life 30 years ago, but now it's just a review of my occasional shortcuts driving through to get to the ferry. Maybe I'll sign on to a walking tour someday. I recall excellent guides at places like the Underground tour. I do hope the city recovers its former vibrancy for younger people to enjoy living in.
My favorite kind of Lao Ocean video! I enjoy your commentary quite a bit. I certainly hope that you aren't losing interest in making videos...I've missed you. Thank you for the lovely stroll this morning. I love this city!
Do it Denis. You’d be great at it I’m a professional tour guide here in Perth Western Australia and I love it. Very rewarding job I highly recommend you do it. You know your stuff and you could really show off your Seattle well.
@@LaoOcean Brother when you announce the LaoOcean Seattle tour company I will make every effort to be on the first tour and I will get the first round of beers, probably the second too... The 2160p at 60fps looked awesome the narration also awesome, thank you for the video Mr. Ocean. 👍🍻✌️
Okay I'll make a deal, a walking tour of the updated waterfront and a quick walk through of the market, I'll buy you your next coffee 😄 I need entertainment for my weekend morning cardio, plus I want to see the changes and what to look for and expect for my October trip!
This is the walk and area i wonder around when i come to down town seattle I love that area and I take lots of pictures and walk around for a bit. Then I usually go to pike place market. And go look for my friend that makes and sells natural soap and Deodorantce and even tooth paste. I stock up when i am up there on my vacation. it nice to see a place I was in about a month or so ago. I have been staying In burien and mostly explore that side I take the water taxi over for any down town adventure i love coming in that way. Thanks for the great video Dennis
My long-ago California girlfriend's brother did Dashiell Hammett tours of the Bay Area. I was on a block in L.A. that featured Charles Bronson's house in Death Wish. You might try art or literature or cinematic destinations around Puget Sound or just in Seattle. Probably someone is already doing things like that, but maybe look for existing specialty tours to sample and see if you can duplicate or improve on them. Maybe arrange brief meetings/meals with the various immigrant communities around the city. And of course the parks. I'd bet there's an Olmstead tour. A must for out-of-towners.
I admire how Seattle and its businesses paint over graffiti. It's a constant battle. Compare recent walking tours of Montreal or some European (including Scandinavia) cities, for example.
1:45 Oh wow! I forgot they were redoing South Main St. to improve that corridor from the buses on 3rd, to the waterfront. Finally got rid of the raised, old trolley platform. It’s sad that it was a similar link to the city’s past, like the Pioneer Square pergola. It was an eyesore and a trouble spot at times for myself as security supervisor for my eventual former employer, Weyerhaeuser. Well, who am I kidding though. Most all through that area within a mile radius was/is VERY sketchy, as those of us familiar with that whole area know. Change is a constant.
At 4:30 parking lot across the street was the former site of the Dairyland. Trumps grandfather worked there before heading to the Klondike to mine the miners.
EFF-EH-SUS the Bible Book a Ephesians was written by The Apostle Paul to the Early Christian Church in The Greek City of Ephesus...we've been going through this book in Church for several Months!
Makes me wonder if this Ephesus is the same one as in my hometown neck of the woods, West Seattle. It served Mediterranean cuisine of course, but it closed at some point. Landlord wanted 100% property rent increase, and a redevelopment plan that was in the works stalled out.
I used to talk to the original tenant/owner of that space, Ali. He ran at the time “Cherry Street Public House,” (C- you know what 💀 to that location) and I assume runs all the other Cherry Street Coffee locations in the city (I know Dennis knows about Cherry Street…Ali, I know also at the time ran the first C.S. location on 700 1st Ave & Cherry St). He told me he sunk $600,000 on the build out (not foundational) of the inside of that space…what you’d essentially see now if you went in there. Man those days messed up so much, in so many ways!
I actually enjoyed the talking. Not annoying but extremely informative. Especially for someone who has never been to Seattle

A look at Seattle’s historic Pioneer Square in the middle of summer 2024. Hope you enjoy this video in 4K 60! ✌️

18:13 Defiantly prefer 60fps, especially for a video with lots of movement.
💯
Looks sad and disturbing the city with lots closed down and not alive😢
You were in my neck of the woods. Had I known, I'd buy you lunch and give you a good cigar
