I was considering this but the print is too small and id prefer the non-zipper however I love the translation of the EOB and St. Ignatius Orthodox Press sells great quality EOB hardbacks in a volume set including the prophetologion.
this is the NT edition which James Snapp Jr has promoted as the best NT translation with regard to its textual notes, he says it is a lot better than any modern English version available today in that regard, if i have understood him correctly... agreed, it certainly deals much more honestly with the textual evidence throughout... but often in the non-textual notes it is biased toward the Orthodox tradition, which is to be expected... but it is helpful to know that... but the other thing, which i would regard as a weakness, is that it is not very strong in its defense of the Byzantine/Patriarchal text, a defense which should be expected of a NT version based on this text, and done by people who is supposed to be "spiritual descendants" of the custodians of the Greek Byzantine text... again and again in the textual notes, they either give a weak defense or sometimes cast doubts on Byzantine readings, and formulate notes as if they accept the critical text as equal with the Byzantine... this circumstance is more visible in the thicker paperback edition of this text, which has much more introductory material and several articles on various subjects, some textual, some theological... but they have an "adapted" version of James Snapp's work on Mark 16.9-20, which is good...
I did not know that about Pastor Snapp. Interesting! I think the notes are superior to those found in the NKJV and probably even the Newberry Study Bible, which is dated now.

Snapp has several articles on his blog on the problems in footnotes in English bibles... even in the NET bible, which we expect to be the more accurate one, but no, it has many of the same inaccuracies... and though the NET is excellent for its fuller notes, we should expect better from a bible with notes done by a text critic (Dan Wallace)... i cannot remember if this is covered by Pastor Snapp, but i would have expected the NET to have fuller notes re. the many gross differences between codices Aleph and B, which are numerous, but few are included in the NET, and i wonder why... :) also, because of the more extensive deviations between these two codices, the critical text has ended up choosing the longer reading in the text instead of the shorter one, in places where either the one or the other has the longer reading which agree with the Byzantine text... it is easy to find hundreds of readings (places) in the NT where either Aleph or B has the "longer reading" of the Byzantine text... such facts are not exactly emphasized in the NET, and i wonder why... (though i need to study the notes in the NET a little further before saying much more about it, but it is an overall impression one gets, that it is not honestly handled....) -- but think of these two MSS, which is traditionally called "the [two] oldest and best" in English bibles, it should not be glossed over when they disagree sharply.... that would be to give just half the evidence.... would that be a honest account of "the oldest and best"?? -- the main point is that the notes are very selective, and often completely silent on the more grave errors of Aleph and B, while at the same time defending them as "the oldest and best"....
Was looking at various bibles online today and, there it was! I wanted a larger NASB since mine was one of those compact thin-paged ones that's a bit hard for my short fat fingers. The NKJV is my most often used daily carry anyway. But there it was! What was I to do? 2000 American printing of the 1995 NASB text in wide side margin on "French milled paper" and leather binding!!!! I rationalized that this would be a "one time purchase," and gave in to the drooling! Can't wait to get it here from Texas!
I have two of these, very nice but for older folks the print is very small. There is a paperback version but it is huge (thick paper). I mainly use this version of the NT in my Logos Bible Software (goes by EOB version). Closest thing to a majority text that Logos Bible software has...
Nice bible. Im not a two column fan, but the footnotes look awesome. Random question, Is it just me, or is the audio louder in one ear than the other ear? It might just be me, or my headphones? 😀
This is really interesting! I think the main issue for me is that the Bible would very likely have some "Orthodox bias" in it. I'm not sure that I could bring myself to use the main text. BUT... Like the NET translation, it looks super helpful for the textual notes! Nifty!
There isn't a "bias" as it is not a study Bible. It is just the plain text with notations where there are greek words that do not translate into english well. An example being the Christ like Love "Agape" that we do not have an english word for as Greek has 5 words for varying levels of love. Other notations detail where early codexes of scripture differ and where a certain phrasing comes from. It is a very good tool. Decrying bias without examination will not keep truth seekers protestant.
Can you tell me what Luke 1:28 says? Does it go with the popular "greetings favored one" or with "hail full of grace"? The Orthodox services say "Rejoice, full of grace" and I'm very curious if they translated it in accordance with those.

Blessed are you among women!’*” 1:28 This is the traditional expression. “The perfect participle κεχαριτωμένη has the strongest connotation of the present: ‘having been favored and as a result still being in this blessed condition.’ The root in the verb is χάρις, grace, the unmerited favor bestowed by God. The passive voice makes God the agent.” (R.C.H. Lenski, The Interpretation of St. Luke's Gospel (Minneapolis: Augsburg Publishing House, 1946) p. 62). Many translations have “Greetings, favored one!” or something similar. 1:28 CT omits “Blessed are you among women”
