Hi, I am 27 years old, never smoked, lower blood pressure and watch my diet. When walking on incline hills or running I get pains in my calves. Is there any benefit of pushing through the pain barrier or should I rest and repeat? Thanks
After a brief rest the pain resolves and it is possible to walk on again. The distance walked along the flat (not up hills) before the pain starts is used as a rough guide to the severity of the condition. During walking the leg muscles use more oxygen which is supplied by the circulating blood. If the supply is reduced the oxygen is used up and the muscles become painful. After a rest the oxygen levels return to normal and it is possible to walk again.
@@sophiesummers6198 hey I’m 18 and I can’t jog more than a mile before my calves are on fire and I have to stop. Then after a few minutes of rest I can go again but it will grow to burn again. Same when I play tennis. If I don’t break and keep hitting, it will get to the point where I have to break in about 15 minutes because my calves burn so much. Was wondering if your experiencing similar symptoms because I can’t find much stuff on the internet that applies to teenagers
@@matthewmoore938 yep I’m definitely having the same symptoms. It feels like your calves are cramping up right? For me I find after about a minute of just walking I need to either sit down or stand still to get rid of the pain. I’m in consultation with a doctor and I’m looking at getting a Botox treatment done to avoid surgery (hopefully). Hope all goes well with u!
I've been diagnosed with intermittent claudication and will try these exercises.
Great video!! Thank you!

You should rest and then continue
