You guys are the bosses of the review world on youtube! I have to agree about the GSX-S. I was saying years ago they needed to bring the GSR to North America to do battle with the FZ8, Hornet etc. Suzuki being the play it safe, take no chances company it has become recently, decided to re-brand the GSR, and release it 4 years too late.
Tested the top three bikes yesterday, an hour each. The Tuono was compact, powerful with plenty of mid range, great noise, beautiful handling, quickshift was smooth at pace. For me the bars are just a little lower than I wanted, pegs are high and the fueling was choppy at under 80 -100kmh...tended to surge at city speeds, throttle was touchy, bit fluffy off the bottom. Electronics were easy to use even-though the screen was affected by the glare of the sun....Great bike The KTM Superdike 1290r was more comfortable, almost upright seating position, smooth twin power, good noise, tons of torque, deceptively quick, no problems with gearbox, great handling and rock solid stability. Like the Tuono the engine surged at lower speeds, the throttle was a bit off/on, and the seat was high. I'm 6feet/183cm and I could barely have both feet flat on the ground. Electronics were straightforward and worked well but the screen was a little dull looking....Great bike The BMW S1000R was balanced, great ergos-sitting more in the bike, perfect reach to bars. Raunchy exhaust note, liquid power everywhere, great handling, rock solid stability, quickshift excellent. Cruise Control should be compulsory on all bikes. Great screen and functions... I couldn't find any negatives!.......so I put a deposit on a red one it and pick it up next week!! .
Phil H how are you finding your s1000r still? I test rode one month ago and it’s the best bike I’ve ever ridden! However I have not tested the tuono yet
wow. the only guys to illustrate the size and riding position. very helpful considering that at the end of the day its usually about ergonomics. it would be a bit more helpful if all bikes were presented like that (say at the end). thnx
here in the U.S. I just bought the GSX S1000 $8,999 compared to the BMW at $16,000 that left a ton of cash to get accessories. the KTM that was a cool $21,000 I'm all set
These are the exact bikes I wanted reviewed! Aprilia BMW KTM Each bike is special and depending on the rider and what they plan on doing most with their bike, will determine which bike suits their needs... I'm still in the air between S1000R and RSV4RR They both look amazing but Aprilia edges out the BMW and seems to have the wow factor! In the US these are around 16-18k guess I need to test ride... Great review!
Extremely helpful to me. Thank you a million times for being so kind as to translate it for me. Your insight was remarkable and very helpful in my decision. DANKE!
Great review guys :) Maybe I am in the minority, but I would have preferred subtitles to the dubbing as it gives a better sense of your emotion when discussing the bikes, even if my basic high-school German skills don't allow me to understand much!
ExtremeDeathman Coming from a non english speaking country I'm used to reading subtitles, happens subconciously now :) But of course that may not be the case for everyone!

Great comparison! Thanks to you guys, I bought the Tuono just 2 days ago and I don't regret it a moment. Since you guys got the voice overs, it's been a pleasure. One question ttough: Will you be doing videos with your english guy as well?
The real King of the Big Naked bikes, a bike in obscurity. BMW K1200R. 2005. Emperor and Blackbird of the road. Rocket sled. These new bikes have more power, but the K12R was a bike ahead of it's time and lives in obscurity.
Great review. I was about to buy a Tuono, until I read about the expanding gas tanks due to ethanol and the type of plastic used. Super Duke 990 and a few Ducati's also have the problem, leading to class action suits. On the super duke forums 1290 also has/had some QC issues. Bummer due to them being at the top of the list. Japanese at least don't have expansion issues due to using metal still, you'll just have to upgrade them to make it more on par (ohlins, exhaust,ECU tune). I like the look of the europeans though. Decisions Decisions
+67claudius I thought so too, but owners as late as 2014 have reported it on forums for the tuono. 2012 www.triumph675.net/forum/showthread.php?t=118937&page=3 2014 advrider.com/index.php?threads/tuono-v2-or-v4.1025368/ . They did upgrade to a larger tank in 2014 on the tuono. People try caswell coating or non ethanol gas still.
So which bike is the Winner? For me I've been agonising over the choice between the S1000R and the Tuono for the last year. As a BMW owner i know that for all practical reasons the BMW is the better bike. But when i saw the factory version of the Tuono it stole my heart. Its my dream bike. If i choose the BMW will i regret it?
Ian Enciso I think you will but hey, I'm bias towards my 1100 Tuono Factory. :p I got #80 and that's something special imo. You're not likely to see another one around.
try disable traction control on the sdr whole diferent bike lots of more fun but u have to have to some skills noone of the other bikes do power wheelies on 4rd gear :P
Thanks for the English version! Looking forward to more of these to take advantage of your wonderful reviews!

2016 Aprilia Tuono 1100 RF. She's a beast..

kullsyreholdig01 Thank you for your feedback!
i also prefer subtitles
Ian Enciso You most likely will loose track, when you have to read everything they say.

Great review....thanks for the english version!!
Hey guys!
Im torn between the S1000R and the Tuono 11000RR since in australia theyre pretty much the same price. What would you pick?
Aprilia!

Aprilia Tuono for me!!! BMW is boring and has no character.

+Andrew Weaver I thought the problem was solved in 2010, when it was no longer used the PA6 polyamide plastic.

Andrew Weaver In this case I don't know what to say, is a problem that isn't known in Italy.
Maybe less or no Ethanol in Italian gasoline.
