- We all know Blender is great for digital art, but it's a fantastic tool for traditional art as well! Using examples from my own work as a cartoonist and illustrator, I'll show how I've used Blender to create studies for lighting, color, perspective, and more. I'll also discuss the best techniques I've found for getting Blender renders off the computer and onto the drawing board.
Never thought that I can watch someone on UA-cam sharing how to use imagemagick, inkscape, and Blender modeling for perspective reference... just like me!
Thank you for sharing your experience on using Blener to assist drawing. 🙂
I loved this presentation on every level!
fantastic presentation
Have you seen the makehuman project for building human models. They also have a selection of rigging available as well.
hi ma’am! great work! so you’re saying you do the basic 3d models in blender and then basically draw over it or use it as a basic outline for your pen on paper drawings?
🙏🙏🙏
If you're looking for reference maquettes for blender, I absolutely recommend one made by Vertex Arcade: ua-cam.com/video/B2xJCZHdae4/v-deo.html
It's a low-weight, customizable, very easy-to-pose reference model. It was originally intended to be a base model for sculpts, but I've found it unbelievably useful as an illustration/2D animation reference.

I miss the times when people learned to draw.
that's such an ignorant and lazy take. Traditional media has relied on visual aids literally since the beginning. the camera obscura in the 1700s, camera lucida in the 1800s, lightboxes and rotoscoping and collage composition. the method means nothing unless the method is the message, the meaning of the art is what matters.
