With All the Rave of Budget Paint Jobs. This is the real result that I came up with a couple years ago. Rustoleum Smoke Grey Gloss on the Pole Hunter Camaro.
I was having the same issues you were having with your gun and went out and bought a Huski spray gun from H/D and it works pretty nice . have done 2 paint jobs with it and am very pleased with it ..
I could feel your pain, I just PAINted my 100 year old claw foot bath tub, I attempted to paint the tub and tile 2 part epoxy with my harbor freight paint gun, after cleaning it out for an hour after the first coat I tossed it in the trash when I finished the top coat. Ive never got to experience a proper paint gun.
I didn't believe the gun makes that big of a difference, but when I immediately saw the results I realized how many years I wasted doing it wrong 😅. That is really cool to have a 100 year old tub, those are hard to come by!
could you please tellme , what type of building are you working in ??!!! I 'm not familiar with the style of roof trusses that you have there , I'm planning to build a pole barn soon . thanks for a response !!!
I am working in a pole barn type building. It has 6" post with metal perlings attached with metal sides and a metal roof. I added insulation boards to keep the temperature more manageable.
So the paint in the spray can is similar to the 1 the gallon of paint? Along with the clear? I was always curious about this because I would like to paint my car that I use for the street & strip. I just need some paint to hold on good for about 1 1/2 - 2 years. I heard the Rust-Olieme can paint has hold up for 1-2 years on a Spray can with harsh weathers with no garage. I'd sometimes rather do this so I won't clean up the gun. I also have to borrow 1. Can is easier.
Next bud check the size of the fluid tip and needle. 1.2 is geart for thined paint and 3.0 and higher is for primers . And if you us a HVLP paint gun you have to use a true HVLP air hose for it to be a true HVLP system. I have been a paint and body man for over 21 years
You are 100% correct! It took me over a year to finally figure out what was going on with my paint jobs, I would paint for 20 minutes with no problem and then all of the sudden the flow would stop. I never thought to check the vent until I went to open the cup and there was a loud pop where the cup was being sucked in.😆 Thanks for the feedback 😎
@@3Wheels1Block and I use alot of black rustoleum on frames and firewall there is a product called smoothie II that acts like a hardener for that paint
Why would you waste time and money using a paint product that will not hold up to UV. You will need to buff it constantly until you work through all layers and expose primer. For another hundred you could paint it with an automotive base clear and be done with it.
As I explained in the video this car was 7 different colors by the time we got all the parts together. This was just to get the car a consistent color while the rest of the fitment, testing and tuning was done. (4 years roughly) Hindsight I would now do this with epoxy primer. This is the final paint job result below. the candy was definitely a lot more than a $100 Rust-Oleum paint job, plus many many more hours of body work and modifications were done. Thanks for checking out the video and leaving feedback. I greatly appreciate it. ua-cam.com/video/rmNSeFsYz9s/v-deo.html
i see you live in cali paint prices must be much higher i get eurothaine pait kits in ill for 130 per gallon plus 1quart primer hardner thinner tack cloths tape and strainers check ppg at your local paint supply stores mite cost a little more but will last much longer and go a lot farther for your dollar i did a o3 ranger with 2 quarts with 3 coats PS check the vent hole on the lid of your gun mite help need tips feel free to ask

Glad you like it! Thank you.

She'll look great when she's all back together. Certainly worth the effort.
Thank you 👍🏾 I am very excited to see how she comes out.
What’s the ratio mix
So you just used acetone to thin it
I used acetone 1:1
Yes, 1 part paint and one part acetone (50/50)
Great job!
Thank you 😎

What do you mean no ppe? You had on shorts and a T shirt, ain't that good enough?
It turned out great! What grit sand paper were you using before painting?
Thank you, I think this was sanded with 320 before painting.
Nice work !
Thanks!
Might have missed it, but what grit did you sand with?
Looks good!
Thanks
great video!
Thank you😎
I’ve found the 4:1:1 mix of paint, acetone, hardener . Apply with a 2.0 tip to work best with Rustoleum.
I never thought of adding hardener, great idea!

The car looks amazing I love that car anyway what size motor is in there
Thanks, it has a slightly modified small block 350 with a dual carb tunnel ram setup.

It is the same paint. There is no clean up with a spray can. You make sure you have a good overlap (50-75%) to avoid tiger stripes.

Thank you👊🏾
You were all over the place painting that car, lol, but I love the result
Thank you, this was some of my earlier work, the technique was not the best for sure, but it came out pretty well. 😎
@3Wheels1Block indeed it did, I have a 2000 and a 86 camaro I want to repaint myself.
That's awesome, I had an 86 and a 2001, but not at the same time, they are fun cars. 😎 I hope you get them painted!
Hello my friend 👍🏻👍🏻
Hello 👋
2.0 tip works best on the gun for primer and rustoleum paint, 1.7 tip for urathane bases, 1.3 or 1.4 tip for urathane clears, ect
Thanks, I still have to work on using the 2.0 tip for primers.

Your vent hole in the lid was probably clogged and starving your gun for flow you should start using the disposable cups from harbor freight

Blends right in with the floor .
😅 tis true
@@3Wheels1Block bet you could get a cool purple with 50/50 dark blue & burgundy, then add red a little at a time
@@ericschulze5641 that would probably be really cool 😎
What compressor did u use
I was using a 50 gallon compressor that I found on Offer Up

😅 its amazing what a little primer can do😅
don,t get why pepole use rustoleum paint for cars most paint supplyers sell budget poly for 50 bucks a gallon
