    Welcome to another episode of The Eight Nine Garage. In this episode we paint Frankie blue, and clear coat it. Frankie has Rustoleum Smoke Gray on the bottom, and Royal Blue on top. The clear coat is a UPol product, which is a 2K universal clear. Tell me what you think in the comments!
    If you've ever seen the episode of ‪@MattsOffRoadRecovery‬ where Matt went to Gumby's Auto Wrecking.... well, Gumby's is where the Morrvair and Blue Steel were parked. Gumby was also the star of "Kings of Crash" on Velocity Channel which is part of the Motor Trend network. ‪@MotorTrendWatch‬

    Wow, Shane! People always ask me how I learned to do this or that. Seems I get asked that a lot because I do most anything. I honestly think the reason most people can't do some difficult tasks is that they are afraid to try. So you mess up sometimes. That's how you learn. You don't learn if you don't try. Also how long did you wait after spraying the rustoleum until you sprayed the clear? And how long did you wait inbeteeen coats of clear? Awesome job this is exactly how i want to do my 87, thanks for any info you share

    • @89G
      @89G  Рік тому

      I did 4 parts paint, 3 parts acetone, and one part Majik Catalyst/Hardener (P/N 8-0950-4). I waited a week to do the clear so the paint could gas out. I used U-Pol 2882 2K Clear with the standard UP2323 hardener. I want to say it was 1/2 hour between coats of clear. That's one detail I don't remember much, but I know it wasn't a great deal of time. If I could change anything, it would be to use an adhesion promoter on the bumper covers. I'll probably end up doing those again at some point, as there are some bubbles I can see (it's been a year).
