I don’t know about Swedish Chef but I think Beaker is definitely racist. I think that “Meep Meep Meep Meep” shit is some wild slur only he understands.
My best friend in Middle & High School was Swedish. He went as the Swedish Chef for Halloween more than once and his whole family thought it was just the funniest thing.

Swedish Chef came on a Master Chef Kids episode that me and my wife were watching and he says “taste the moo moo 🐄🐄” to someone saying to try a dish. That shit had us dying laughing we said that quote for like a month straight.

Fun fact, it's very possible that the Swedish Chef is based on author Steven Erikson's father. He spoke about it on an episode of Ten Very Big Books. His father was a very Swedish man with a thick accent, thicker mustache, and ran a cooking show in the same lot Jim Henson and co were developing their studio.
Muppet debates have officially made a comeback! The saga continues! 🎉 Those discussions have always made me laugh hysterically since the very beginning when they cover Grover screwing with Mr. Johnson (The Blue Man)😂

Swedish and Norwegian have a language melodies which are quite distinct. And if you speak english with that melody, it is an immediately identifiable dialect. There is a joke that goes: "How did you come to know I'm Norwegian then?" (Said with Norwegian language melody) The Swedish chef isn't Racist to Swedes, he sounds like a (humerous impression of a) Swede who is not as proficient in English as he thinks he is.
As the story goes, the historical inspiration for the Swedish chef was a swedish chef who got invited to do a cooking segment on US tv, and more or less mind blanked and babbled nonsense while cooking.
There's a semi-recurring joke that involves Swedish Chef speaking genuine phrases, just not in Swedish. He spoke some French, German, & he even rapped Rapper's Delight in English.
Damn. Korey, I understood your distress/frustration. One second, you're just shooting the 💩, and the next second, someone says the sun is actually green. It's hard to keep laughing without double checking if you heard that right. 😅
There is an episode of The Muppet Show where Maureen Stapleton (Edith from "All in the Family") could talk to him because he spoke Fake Swedish, and she could talk Fake Swedish too. So even Suggesting he's racist is Inga Binga Borg!!!!
It's interesting how the Swedish Chef character is obviously mocking the Swedish language but it's not considered racist, however if he was the Chinese Chef it would be considered racist. I wonder who creates the rules as to what's racist and what isn't.
Because we have considered the Sweedish to be "real people" for a much longer time than the Chinese. The Sweeds have been considered people by Britain and America longer than the Polish and Irish have. Because of this, it feels more like playful than if it was the Chinese.
I freaking ADORED Sesame Street and the Muppet Show when I was little in the 80's. I got to meet Big Bird once at a PBS event in my hometown (Seattle, WA). It's one of my earliest memories. At some point they made Snuffy visible to everyone, I don't know when it happened, but I was watching Sesame Street with my kids and Snuffy showed up and everyone was talking to him and I was like, wait, what??
I tell people about that cereal all the time and no one ever believes me and it's hard to find that commercial. Thank you guys and it's the same thing with the marshmallow Krispies that were in the red box. I always got to like pull out proof
We have a neighbor who is similar to Early. He grew up in my father's generation and was referred to as a "neighborhood kid". His thing is food, he knows who's cooking and what events are coming up involving food. Everyone in the neighborhood knew him and would let him join in and he would go from house to house.
Big bird was in the Muppet movie . On their way west to Hollywood Kermit fozzy and gonzo ran into Big bird heading east talking about going to NYC to try and make it big on public access lol
Correct, no more that Sesame Street are Muppets. They were made by the same people who created the Muppets, voiced by one of the voices who did the Muppets, so I can see why people who didn't grow up watching these shows would refer to them as Muppets, but totally different.
The term “Muppet” is a combination of the words “marionette” and “puppet.” It was coined by Jim Henson, the creator of the Muppets, to describe his unique style of puppetry.
Was Rigel in Farscape sci-fi TV show a muppet. There were a lot of puppets and muppets on that show. Jim Henson company was the production company in that show.
Stereotypes exist because there's usually an inkling of truth in them. With that being said, I do think the Swedish Chef accurately represents your average culinary connoisseur from Sweden
Oh boy, if Korey and his pals want to see something that's DEFINITELY "bordering on the line" of racism, then they should SO react to Fiveish and Freinds! 😂
It's my understanding that the Swedish Chef is a parody of television chefs. Lars "Kuprik" Bäckman, a Swedish chef and local celebrity, claimed that he was the inspiration for the character although Jim Henson never confirmed this to be true despite buying the rights to tapes of a television broadcast featuring Bäckman prior to developing the Swedish Chef character. So, are people trying to say making parodies with specific countries/accents are now considered problematic?
I see why korey hates “man child” characters in movies. Hes a man child himself. He lives in his childhood and compares everything to cartoons. Hannah barberra said keep her name out yo mouth!
I don’t know about Swedish Chef but I think Beaker is definitely racist. I think that “Meep Meep Meep Meep” shit is some wild slur only he understands.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂 wtf😂😂😂
Like the road runner. Every word he says has to be beeped out.
The Roadrunner should cancel Beaker lol.
"Meep" does sound like a derogatory term for a type of Asian, that or alien. 😭
I'm Swedish and I'm certain that no one in Sweden is offended by the Swedish Chef. On the contrary, most Swedes find him (and the Muppets) hilarious.
My best friend in Middle & High School was Swedish. He went as the Swedish Chef for Halloween more than once and his whole family thought it was just the funniest thing.
Usually one cultures interpretation of another is usually over the top and inaccurate
Also Swedish and a muppet fan❤
I'm also a swede and I can confirm that I find the Swedish chef hilarious. Love that guy!
@@samirawestling1026muppets is very much a boomer thing isn't it? I'm Swedish too, I don't think young Swedish people have any idea about the muppets

⭐⭐😎⭐⭐ Correct
Yes, I support this. There's muppets and there's "creatures".
I'm actually more impressed by the creatures...even though there's actually a lot of skill and handiwork to build and fabricate both!
The chat is like Bugs Bunny and Korey is like Yosemite Sam, they just say one thing and he goes “oooooooooooh!!!! You ding Dang darn varmint” lol
It just takes that one comment he happens to see and Korey goes off. 😁
"GET THE HELL OFF MY BACK WOMAN, CAN'T I GET A MOMENT OF FUCKING PIECE?!?! GAHHHH!!!!"

Most likely.
Most Mexicans love Speedy Gonzales, he's seen as a national pride along with El Chapulin Colorado, El Chavo and El Santo. Helps that Speedy is the hero in most cartoons, at least that's my explanation to Americans who are indeed confused Speedy is loved by Latin Americans.
I look at it more like a stereotype. I think 🤔 lol
People today often over think this stuff. American society has pretty much lost the ability to take a joke whatsoever.
Naw but his cousin slow poke Rodriguez was extremely offensive
Korey being defensive about muppets is hilariously funny
Is Yoda a muppet? lol 😂
