Best advice from a 4 year ground driver … go to a FedEx approved trucking school, get your CDL A license add on your doubles/triples endorsement and switch to line haul. Drop and hook, no touch freight. If you get hired with a good line haul contractor, the money is there. You can do local, regional and OTR runs. No more slinging furniture, Chewy boxes, etc etc
It’s funny I’m just starting it’s been 2 weeks. Salary $1000 a week… but my route takes me about 10 hours at least. Ironically my route is literally the road I live on, but unfortunately, the terminal is almost an hour away. Which I didn’t know at first. So I have to drive an hour in the morning to the terminal, just to drive back all the way to where I live to deliver. When I’m finished, then I have to drive all the way back to the terminal and then get in my car and drive all the way back. So about 14 and 15 hours a day. reason why i havent jump on the bandwagon is theres a thing called burnout. myself i delivery for amazon. not the vans. but for flex. and we do 3 to 4 hours a day with under 50 pckages and then we go home. we can decide if we want more of the action tommorow or not. of course that means flex drivers are not full time or even part time drivers but like in the middle. basically we're our own business. lol. we do our own taxes. so technically that remains true. but anyway this burnout can be controlled. feeling like you work too much this week and need a break. with flex you have that luxury.
Switch to UPS. if you think 120+ stops is a lot. I’ve been at UPS for 23 years. 120 stops is light. Try 220 stops. Oh the benefits and union are awesome. I wish you luck in the future
Lol.....I'm sorry....I've hustled retail delivery as a CDL trucker since 1998....physical work....13/14 hour days, 5 days a week, and you're quitting a 7 hour a day job? Yes, my family life suffered, but as a man, we support our families. If a spouse cannot support the man as being a primary wage earner, it's a relationship not meant to be. True.....trucking isn't for everyone.....some aren't willing to work long hours for $80k per year while having no social life. If a person is smart or savvy enough to generate a livable income otherwise, good for them. But hard work never killed anybody, and it's a personal attribute that is seriously lacking in today's society.
I totally agree with everything you said! This isnt about quitting a good job that is the lifeline of your family. This is about leaving something you hate for something better. For example, I am just about to turn the corner of making ends meet just from personal training, getting closer and closer to just doing what I went to school for to provide for my family. I just talk to people everyday who feel stuck in a job that barely meets needs that they hate and I dont think thats living life. That barely even seems like surviving. You can get down in the dirt and work hard and not hate what youre doing. That is a possibility for everyone.
Wrong, hard work has shortened the life span of many. And not to mention the toll it takes on your body. I worked as a Package handler for FedEx, and as a part time employee. You basically do eight/ nine hours of work in four/ five hours. The system they have does not work, so the turnover rate is very high. People come and go like a revolving door.
Don’t compare fedex to ups. Not even close to the same. Ups 60-80hrs a week. Fedex 40. Work more get paid more. Problem is laziness! Also you wouldn’t make it one day at ups after not closing the bulkhead.
@@Ml-tk4eq first of all, I only work 30 hours a week 😘 second, closing the bulkhead is for mamma’s boy’s 😂 third, the reason I wouldn’t make it at UPS is because no amount of money is worth being in the truck longer than 6 hours
That’s what they all seem to aim for. 150 was the average when I started. Covid made people order waaaaay more stuff though. Your contractor must be smart about how he divides up his routes
Fellow Fedex Grounder from Canada. I hate Toronto area fuckin building apartments where lazy concierge don't wana keep parcel with them and send us drivers upstairs. I have a mall too on my route which kinda sucks. I lasted a year though luckily my contractor isnt too bad.
I just left FedEx after 9 months as a Maintenance Technician II. I worked at the Chicago HUB and it was ok, I am experienced and that is where it ends. This place is terrible. If you are a rookie, or a 50yr old rookie that does not feel comfortable with electrical, you will be fine. Enjoy those 3% annual merit increases. No progression up at all, unless you want to be an underpaid Manager. Plenty of lazy Technicians playing on their cell phones and sleeping. You will not be rewarded with your work ethic, and management breaks their word all the time. People will know your earnings per hour before you start. OMG should I continue? Good for rookies and Millenials, bad for Gen-Xers and people that can cut through the B.S. of The Purple Promise quickly. You are better off going into food.
You have air conditioning! Like I said I’m in southern Florida and I almost felt like I was going to have a heat stroke last Friday when it was 102 with bad humidity. I ran out of Powerade the fan doesn’t even work in the truck. If your in Florida I think air conditioning should be mandatory. At least on low or something. Because it’s only my second week and wow.. plus I don’t have a fancy computer I have a zebra with no Mount, and I can use my cell phone to navigate…wohoo…this is..ugh
When you say destroy your body suck out your soul job... Honestly I doubt it. I was an order selector for a year and a half and I had to stack over 500 boxes of yogurt and do 10 of those pallets a day. It sucked. But like 100 to 200 packages a day can't be too hard. Now I'n sure it has its tough parts like weather and traffic, but I think it's physically doable. I've seen old people doing these jobs.

@@eminiscalperpro9729 hey, if you have another hustle go get it for sure. I think you'll like the new vlog im posting tomorrow. It talks about how I have come to balance FedEx and my side hustles as well. Might be a good option for you as well.
The contractor should pay you extra if some days you’re doing 220 stops
They do now that I’m part time 😂 they didn’t before
Sorry but some of the workers are lazy picking up packages and always delay orders
Excellent job brother
I'm with Fedex Freight and it got me to where I'm at today
I'm very fortunate to have the job, but its not for me
I still feel something missing
I make videos on it as well
Gotta find what fills that hole brother. I found mine, now its just about making it my main thing!
reason why i havent jump on the bandwagon is theres a thing called burnout. myself i delivery for amazon. not the vans. but for flex. and we do 3 to 4 hours a day with under 50 pckages and then we go home. we can decide if we want more of the action tommorow or not. of course that means flex drivers are not full time or even part time drivers but like in the middle. basically we're our own business. lol. we do our own taxes. so technically that remains true. but anyway this burnout can be controlled. feeling like you work too much this week and need a break. with flex you have that luxury.
How much you get paid
@@shadowk4718it’s depends on the bloc and how long it is
Switch to UPS. if you think 120+ stops is a lot. I’ve been at UPS for 23 years. 120 stops is light. Try 220 stops. Oh the benefits and union are awesome. I wish you luck in the future
The reason I stay at FedEx is because it’s light 😂 the last thing I ever want to do is switch to ups.
@@Deliverypros fair enough.
Nosediving out of the workforce with no plans is my thing lol
Sometimes having no plan is the best plan haha kudos to you for having the balls to do that, and multiple times it sounds like 😂
This just makes me excited for my first day as Grounds driver haha
to each is own i suppose hahaha
I'm just getting ready to start bud
@@Deliverypros , Yes.....understood. 👍
It's not 7 hours...
@tucker . 80k is way more enough money than having a 7-10 hours a day fedex job for only 40k a year .. do the math ….
My place work at 7 get off at 3. About 150 stops. Drive about 30 miles a day. Wonder is this all FedEx or just the contractor?
I don’t have air conditioning anymore haha I haven’t been in that truck for 2 years. It’s been 100s the last two weeks 😂 we are all suffering
It’s all fun and games until you have to take an entertainment center up to a 3rd floor apartment with no elevator 😂
@@Deliverypros Like I said I'm sure it has its tough parts.
@@Deliverypros That's when u scan it and leave it at the bottom of the stairs and tell em to fuck off.
@@BrendanH99_ it does indeed. Also, do yourself a favor and just leave those at the bottom of the stairs with a note on their door 😂 took me way too long to learn that this is ok
@@Deliverypros Thanks for the advice lol
I worked for Amazon and by the end of the day after 200 stops I was done and sticky all the time delivering sucks when they give you so many stops
That does not sound like a good time at all
Change dsp. Everyone at mine does 140 stops or less.
Beat\song at 4:43?
Out of curiosity, do you go to your farthest stops first, and then work your way back with stops closest to the hub? How does that work? Thanks.
Because I’m not done at the end of my deliveries and I just go home, it doesn’t matter. I don’t go more than 5 miles from the station in my route
@@Deliverypros Thanks for the reply.
Some drivers are the worst they blame there employers about the job . And then quite. I have fed ex routes. And the drivers allways fighting with each other . One of my drivers quit on a long email rant about how it sucks working for me. All jobs have there up sides and down side……. Driving a truck it’s not easy but drivers sometimes act like idiots. I have 1 year left until my fed ex contract is over can’t wait never again am I buying a fed ex route. I have even given them all raises and they still are miserable. They can afford to quit because they know there are lots of driving jobs . Dont matter what job you do all jobs have there up side and down side….
Wear n tear on my body is way too much for me . I quite only after two weeks working . My route 85% is business so lots of big bulk pakages . $17 an hours is not worth it … with this kind of physical labor.
Ya business routes are the worst. There are some overweight people at my station and I don’t know how they do it. I don’t understand how their knees don’t explode
I just started FedEx. Why am I seeing this?
Ups guy makes 450 a day.
They billionaires no need to feel bad for the company , they shut down tomorrow they'll live the rest of there days out rich ... it's a shitty job.
Why does driving around delivering packages sound like a chill, peaceful job to me?
@@ruleaus7664 it sounds super chill and easy on paper. in practice, not so much. don't take my word for it, though. try it for yourself you might actually love it (at least for the first couple weeks).

Fantastic very true video. 5 stars.

It very much depends on the route.
My question is how you don’t get benefits because I will be working there full time & benefits start on the first day so I’m confused? Also I live in New Jersey.
I believe it’s a contractor to contractor thing. There are no contractors at my station that I’ve heard of that offer benefits.
@@Deliverypros Thank you for your response. Just trying to learn the difference plus I know they won’t tell me false information on benefits the day you start lol. Again , thank you !
do you have to get a last name when you deliver to business's?
Yes. But I have just memorized the last names of all the people I deal with because I feel annoying asking them every single day for their last name is.
I’m with Fedex express and it’s great
#smallpackagegang
Do you have a business route or HD?
It was a hybrid. Got to the point where it was about half and half
you used to work for stombreaker contractor?where u work now?
Still do. A new guy bought the company. It’s way different now. I only drive for 4 hours a day but they pay me a full days pay 🤷🏻♂️
@@Deliverypros thanks
I disagree that 'anyone could do this job'. No sorry..... You need to be in good shape & have good self-awareness, plus the ability to put your phone down & work hard. It's not for everyone. Jumping in and out of a truck 200+ times per/day wouldn't last a week for many people. Take care of your knees and ankles.
I would have agreed with you before doing the job. But based on the guys I work with who have been doing this for the last 10 years, theyre extremely out of shape and they are fine. Theyre just slow. If you wanted to be optimal at this job, then ya, shape matters. They do maybe 20 stops an hour haha
No benefits? That's a dead end job. With no heath Insurance it's a ticking time bomb of potential bankruptcy.
Definitely don’t wanna be here forever. But we have a pretty good health insurance plan through other means
@@Deliverypros very good.
Go to ups good pay and full benefits
Yall are tempting me hardcore
How do you do 30 an hour?
Hahaha now I do 45 an hour my dude. It definitely depends on the area but speed is all about truck setup

No clue! I’m completely out of the loop on that haha
Fedex ground or express?

how do you know which packages to take off the conveyor belt to load?
The first three numbers on the serial sticker are my truck number. the next four numbers tell me where its going on the shelf in my truck
Sick looks just like reno
How is it a good job and you have no benefits?
☺ 😂 😂
I worked Fedex home delivery before they had the GPS, I had to go off memory and google maps lol it sucked at first really bad. We would have 80-130 stops a day... What really blows my mind is that drivers have to sort through the truck and reorganize 50 plus packages and then sit and wait almost 2 hours to get the rest of the packages... Why the fuck don't they just load the trucks at night or early in the morning and then have Express grab stuff thats later in the day... Home/Ground drivers get paid 600-700 a week working crazy long hours and are treated like a number, very disposable... It's a young person job now, all the older guys done quit years ago. Only good thing thats happened in the past 15 years is GPS in the trucks now LMFAO
