    Being a FedEx ground driver is..... challenging. No two routes are the same, no two trucks are the same, no two contractors are the same.... The list goes on. Lifting heavy boxes by yourself, fixing the mistakes of others on the fly, navigating the streets trying to find where each package goes. There are a lot of things to not like about this line of work.
    On the flip side there are a lot of things to like about it as well. Stick around to the end of the video to hear some of those.

    Dude... I was a driver for Ground back before they scanned items going into the trucks....POOR loader would have to look at the address on the box, then look up at a board with all the streets and then place accordingly somewhere in the truck....
    Thanksgiving thru Xmas was always fun, fun,fun.... (they would incorporate scanning into the loading during my days there...eventually).
    I would meet up with the UPS driver at the local store...he would be sipping his coffee, and telling me he is making triple Overtime...cause they are Union.
    6 years I endured (until 2011), at 50 years old, I finally told them: I'll get you thru Xmas, then that's it... walked away....the Contractor ended up having a nervous breakdown sometime the next year or two afterwards.
    (how do I know this? My Mom goes to Church with him [the contractor]... good guy.)

      I bring back stuff if it’s unreasonably loaded. Like if my sid number for example of 1000 is not in the 1,000’s and I find it with 4,000’s later. Bring it back. N tell ‘em. I get a lot of unmanifested packages. Bring it back. At my warehouse we don’t get paid to load the truck or help load it. And a lot of package handlers leave big stuff outside the truck thinking we’ll load them. Nope. Drive away as loaded. If all they get paid to do is scan a box n slide it off that conveyor belt. Fire them. Pay me their pay. N I’ll just come in earlier n load my own truck. They don’t load it. Gets left. They damn sure don’t help deliver the truck. Why should the driver help load the truck n not get paid

    I think FedEx is just 100% what contractor you have. I enjoy my job for the most part I’m 21 out of Kansas and my contractor pays us $24hr with the chance of that being bumped to $25hr sometime in the future. Biggest thing I hated was a route they always gave me but I told my management I hated that route so much and just like that they stopped giving it to me and I also work mom-Thursday 3 days off on the best days to have off imo. But like I said depends on contractor if I worked a regular day so 8-5 I’d make $216 that day or if I get bumped to $25 it would $225 a day but I know a contractor at the terminal who pays a daily rate which is only $150 a day for close to the same amount of work.

    Hi, Chris. Good video! I've been a FedEx ground driver for about 8 1/2 years. I relate to everything you mentioned. I hope to create some vlogs to be part of your community. But for now I'll say this; I hate this job, not for what the job is, but rather for the disregard and disrespect that comes directly from FedEx. It pays decently for what it is, but our pay rate was slashed by nearly 25% three years ago while FedEx profits skyrocketed, and THAT is what it's all about. It doesnt come from FEDEX...it comes from the contractors...Most routes are contracted from fedex through private companies....those companies are responsible...I was contracted through HERTZ and cleared 1,300 every week. but some contractors dont do that, some just pay you a set amount daily....which is why most fedex workers probably are barely clearing 600 .

      It's retarded because the fedex express guys in my city RENT there delivery vans. Thats right RENT. They are the car size vans not stepvans like p1000 or p1200. They don't have shelves and they have truck shortages left and right. Ground has and always will push more volume than express but of course corporate gets paid more.

  • @stevearnold721
    @stevearnold721 7 місяців тому +1

    Looks like your just dropping off packages and not taking pics of packages at door. Express you have to scan, confirm delivery then take pic with your Leo. That's why you can go faster than some of the fedex drivers. Express does more than ground according to your video. We load our own trucks off conveyer belt, then scan with leo before we even leave station. Wish we could leave at 730am. It's 930 - 1000am before we leave

    • @Deliverypros
      @Deliverypros  7 місяців тому +3

      I have to scan and take a picture. I’m just really fast at doing it haha. We don’t have to load the trucks but if you want to go fast you do have to sort for at least 40min to an hour to get all the serial numbers facing you. The place you lose the most time is in the truck looking for the package, so I try to minimize that as much as possible.

    You should probably try learning your route instead of relying on your equipment/maps every day. Everyone knows how crappy their equipment is. 25 year express employee here. Fedex has really dumbed this job down when they hired people that were unable to memorize areas, streets.... all they have are people that sit on their phones mapping streets all morning.

      So first of all….. hand trucks are for pansies and the elderly 😂 second, I’ve never complained that my route is hard. It has a lot of furniture. But I agree, it’s super easy most days. This video isn’t about my route. It’s about the job. You’re welcome to do your own version of the video. I notice you’ve tried your hand at making videos…. Doesn’t seem like it’s going too far 😬 And Utah doesn’t have a lot of hood…. So I’m out of luck there.
      Anywho, are you bragging about how hard your route is? Cause that’s kinda dumb….. I’d rather brag about how easy my route is 😂 work smarter not harder. If you can’t negotiate an easier/safer route for yourself with your contractor you should either quit, or you’re dumb. This job isn’t worth doing things the hard way. It doesn’t pay enough for that.

      @@frankarvia634 I have a video talking about my compensation. I have a daily pay I get paid no matter what and then I get paid per stop for every stop over 150 stops.
      As far as organizing goes, I do it because it’s the number one reason I can go as fast as I do. It takes time and I’m not technically paid for it, but the organizing I do probably saves me an hour or two of delivery time per day.
      Before I started organizing I was doing 25-30 stops an hour, losing a lot of time looking for packages in the back. Now I do 40-50 stops an hour and never spend more than 10 seconds looking for each package. It’s well worth the time it takes when it makes me go that fast.

  • @matticusminot8086

    if the sorter doesn't scan the package it's on them. There's a form to fill out. No scan, or they put the package in a different section of the vehicle, There is a form you can place your stickers, and say what happen. Your dumb if you google address and go back. You don't get paid by hour but by day. So when the sorters who get paid by hour screw around you think you should google a un scanned package. If your all holy and crap, get there early and scan every package yourself, some do it. I'm a Veteran, don't care.

    • @Deliverypros

      There must be a difference from one contract to another. We are supposed to deliver everything we can, scanned or unscanned. My area isn’t very big, it’s just dense, so it’s a pain to go back but it’s not the end of the world. I could see how that wouldn’t work for every area though.

I’ll add in a bonus one, if you’re doing this job, you should be able to lift 98% of what you get on the truck. Maybe once a week I get something that I physically cannot lift, usually because of size rather than weight. But usually if it’s heavy, long, and wide I can at least roll it up the driveway 🤣
