- In this video I am taking a look at the German, now BR 4.3 Dornier Do 335 A-1. We have 3 different variants of the Do 335 in War Thunder ranging from now BR 4.3 to 5.7. They are all considered strike aircraft, although they do not all have the same capabilities to fulfill that role. The family of Do 335 is mostly disliked by players because of their challenging handing characteristics.

The two things i hate about the 335 in game is that they don't have their real acceleration and the wrong engines (or at least the wrong power settings, they should provide 1750 PS each at war emergency power). If you read the reports from both test pilots and allied pilots, that thing had a insane acceleration. On the other hand, the piss poor climb rate and turn rate are quite historical.
That was funny, I of course knew that about the Mk, I think it was a snafu because I had been messing around in the British tech tree all day before recording.
And yes I agree, it had crazy acceleration, I suppose it is Gaijins way to make it even worse than it was in IRL, they always have had a very strange relationship with "realistic" and "balanced" in my opinion.
@@8BitDane I notice it always happens to be German vehicles on the receiving end of this "realistic" relationship. HVAP shell nerf + all the vehicles that are not in their correct performance state when it comes to aircraft.
@@SquishySquid88 I agree, the 335 should definitely not behave like it does. The change I am most unhappy with, something that annoys me every single time I play, is the changes they made to the German HVAP ammo and the HUGE buffs they gave to every allied nation. Since the change to the armor pen calculations, every single allied aircraft with a 12.7 mm gun and above have turned into a tank buster in mixed battles. It is a huge shit show now. All the FW 190s also have a completely messed up flight model.
@@8BitDane We just live in a post allied WW2 victory world, where no one really cares at this point whether or not the german vehicles are accurate to their real life counter parts. I only bring up the Allied victory because any time i see this discussed in forum, it is always lauded as a good thing because "Germans bad anyway". I'm also suspicious of the very low ammo you are allowed to have on German aircraft. But that might just be my own personal gripe.
@@SquishySquid88 Also, how many profile pictures of allied heroes do we have compared to all the German aces in the war ? I would love to see Galland, Rall and Wittmann for example, but I doubt we ever will and same goes for the Japanese aces. They keep digging up obscure Soviet heroes for profile pics, that does annoy me and I find it weak of Gaijin.
btw the A-0 doesn't get gunpods, I wish the A-0 got gunpods, but all switching the 'gunpods' does is switch out your 15mm for 20mm nose guns

This channel is underrated. Hi Dane once again found this very informative. And i just got the Do335 4.7. looking forward to using some of your tips. Still won't stop me from crashing and burning as this is what i do very well wish there where SL's for the amount of crash's in one day. i would would have double what i have now lol.
That reminds me, I used to play an MMO where you got achievements for dying a lot, lol it was their way to say "pull yourself together"😋. With the A-0 model, I suggest you just go for high altitude bomber hunting and zoom and booming on fighters. You can use it in ground RB of course, and if you do try add the 15 mm mg 151s for more destruction against vehicles, BUT there will of course be more permanent parasitic drag on the plane with the gun pods. I just started spading this plane and yes, while it is not an easy plane to fly, the fun factor is BIG.
It is very gratifying to get kills with it.
I personally use the A1 myself and I love it
I usually get 2-4 kills in it.
I just wish that its one-of-a-kind propulsion would work like intendend and not feel like it would be slowing itself, and that all versions get bulletproof glass at least in front of the pilot
A lot of unique and special details and equipment is just for show, sadly. For instance the two sets of metal inner wheels on the EBR's have no function. They are suppose to be lowered in soft terrain to help the EBR, but its as slow as any other wheeled vehicle in the game when it comes to sand, mud and snow.
0:21 _..the hollow design has to be "through" the main line body of the plane.. instead of the frontal helix (propeller) engine.. an empty cyllindric like void, through the middle, for air to rush from the tip to the back of the plane, between the rear fins.._
*the internalized circular hollowed out engines have only spinning rings.. with minimalistic wrinkles, diagonally reaching inwards from the plane, into the hollow core shaped like a cylinder.. which gives it the ability to "drain" air through it.. and makes it extremely maneuvrable.. with zero risk of propellers breaking.. since all the traction comes from small internal ridges.. that work just like the curved edge of a propeller.. by cutting through air and spinning so that it drags the jet forward..*

yeah, its insane, very very effective against tanks and bombers.
_⚡IEG: the main reason the enemies lost Air Superiority to our Sovereign Skies.. is they didn't use a hollowed out tri-engine modified model of the Dorner.. like the SpeXial-EliteSS did.. to defeat them in the air_

Currently Spading the Do 335 A-1 since I avoided it all the time. It's a horrible experience in Air RB. Every little MG hit sets it on fire somehow.
Its pretty good as long as you don't try turning, lol - It requires discipline to make it work, but then its pretty good for ONLY bomber hunting in Air RB, but fine for ground pounding in mixed battles. I am a fan, but I am odd that way 🙃
Really hate this aircraft but keeping flying it bcuz of how cool it looks .I just grind the German aviation only to get my hands on the Do335.When I first saw that aircraft really liked it's look so I was Iike ok I need to get that lol.when I got it I hated it.
I had it the same way initially. Got it, did not really understand the do 335 and just left it after a couple games, lol. It does takes time for one to figure out how to use it best and stick with it, otherwise it punishes you badly.

hi Danang, the soviet bomber guide is the next bomber guide I am going to do. I had already a lot of game footage to use for the guide, but my HDD died where all the footage was stored, so I have to start from scratch 😡 But I can promise that it will come.

Funny, cos that aiecraft was never meant as an attacker but as an interceptor. Gaijin was not even able of modeling her performances right, but that's not a suprise

In a way it makes me sad, because it just means that players don't know how to use it "properly" and the K/D ratio is awful on it, so Gaijin lowers the BR.
@@8BitDane Two things keep killing me consistently- Pancaking in a dive because I don't pull up in time, and enemy fighters that just spawned in and dive right on me while I try to gain speed. Honestly unsure if a change in BR will do much for me, but I guess it'll be more noticeable if I ever get good at it.
@@DiverWithTheBends Oh yes, some things like the fighters on you are also just bad luck, nothing can be done against that. I usually try to spawn in when others do to maximize my chances of getting something done with CAS planes.

This plane is garbage as a fighter. Its a ground attack plane, like the A10 of WW2
Not IRL, but like with a LOT of other aircraft in WT, Gaijin has butchered it, sadly 😕
This is my go-to for hunting high-altitude heavy bombers like the B-17 and PE-8. I usually only need to hit the tail a few times to send the plane into a spin.
Of course it also destroys AI ground targets from howitzers to AAA to trucks and medium tanks when carrying bombs.
It's a specialized aircraft, which is just what I like. The P-61 is the best comparison I can think of, with its four twenties and four fifties, and a massive 4k lbs of bombs.
these planes are garbage, no reason to use them when you have access to fw-190s and bf-109s of the same BR.
It's a ground attacker no a fighter
Hi IM, the Do 335 serves a different role than regular figthers like the Bf or Fw. Neither of the fighers can fulfill the role the Do 335 can do nearly as good. They can of course be used for it, but the results would be "meh" at best. The same goes for the Do 335 if you used it as a regular fighter, although in that role the Do is REALLY bad. That is also why I mentioned that it its for everyone and its a niche plane that needs to be played to its strengths, otherwise it would, like you said, be garbage :)
