Don't tell me how to drive
This is my most-used vehicle in War Thunder. It can just do about anything: Bomber-hunting, anti-tank, ground pounding, chasing wounded enemies, it may not turn well but it goes fast enough to negate turning advantages.
i got the premium one out of the GE boxes and used it to grind the german tree till i got the F84 thunderstreak and yesterday i unlocked the 11.0 su ^^
This is pretty much the German Heavy Fighters/Strike Fighters in a nutshell lol. Shit turn, amazing guns, good speed and very flexible role.

Sadly, the Do-335 impelemtation is, not really good. There is alot of things wrong or missing with these gorgeous planes. They are missing:
-their historical phenomenal acceleration
-their one-engine-out performance
-their optional armaments (all Do-335 could carry the 20mm instead of the 15mm cannons)
-The bomb bay could carry two bombs according to the flight manual, pointing to gajins physical model of the bomb bay being wrong. But i am currently trying to coax some poor museum staff to roughly measure the bomb bay to confirm this :D
Also the Do-335's engines/engine power settings are wrong.
-The A-1 should be using the DB-603E thus missing 500PS (2x250PS)
-The B-2s power settings are also too low (ingame it is 1550PS, it should be 1750PS) while its WEP power is to high (ingame it is 2250PS, should be 2000PS, or it could be a special version of the DB-603E but then it should have the proper engine name, denoting it as a special version).
Overall, the implementation of these makes me a bit sad :/ It is probably together with the XP-67 (there is a user on the forum making a great model) and the He-219 my all time favorite aircraft.

Multiple veterans will tell you how fast this thing could accelerate and how fast it was on the deck, but in game it's really not what it was irl. It's underpowered

P47 D28 is faster than A1 at all altitudes despite what statcards say.

The Do 335 is my absolute favorite plane. I saw it in a museum before it came out in WT, and for awhile she was really good. But from what I remember they altered its flight model and.. holy fuck is it a brick
Gaijin altered it to be horrible a while back, but relatively recently they improved the flight model to being decent.

Great video, keep up the good work! I would love to see a series of "how to fly certain plain". I've just gotten into top tier USSR prop planes, for example the Yak-3U, and I know it's a decent plane, and I feel it's a decent plain but then I have piss poor performance.

Perfect timing, I have 2k hours in game but never touched any of the do335. Was looking at them last night trying to decide which one to unlock. Was surprised that they are at such a low BR now
This channel is honestly one of the best places to find examples on how to deal with plane x when you're in plane y. But all the good stuff is scattered in a bunch of videos... So I'd really like a general resource with strengths and weaknesses of different planes, and some simple rules on what to do when I have certain advantages and disadvanteges compared to the enemy. I know that I should not dogfight a Spitfire in a Bf 109, but what if face something less stereotypical, like a P-63, Typhoon or La-5? I just don't know enough to be able to make good decisions.
Only thing I look for on WT wiki is the vehicle BR.
I remember i used to despise this plane a while ago but after watching this video i might fly it again
I think doing a video doing quick comparisons between the common rank 2/3/4 aircraft would be helpful like you were talking about with flying the 109 g2 and yak-3

The Do335 is great at surviving and running. You don't turn, you simply dive and run away. You have a great set of engines to beat alot of the aircraft you see.

Btw the do 335 can equip either 15mm or 20mm so you can still get more damage by using 20mms

Speaking of learning planes, there's not a lot on heavy fighters out there and people are commonly being suckered in to fighting them when in fact they'll lose. They see a twin engine fighter and assume their single engine fighter will turn better. A very dangerous mindset against planes like the Ki-96. Even a Beaufighter can out maneuver a 109 G (and maybe an F?) below ~350km/hr with use of flaps.
Try the other seafire, the griffin single prop hits the 17 or something I can’t remember at all. But I used it to grind to jets for being griffin like although heavier it’s a lower br. I got better at defensive flying just using it

I'm using the A0 as an interceptor and surprisingly having 1.4 Kill/game ratio over 300 fights. For the record it's better than my A6Mko record; can't play those planes for shit/ Boom & Zoom is my style I guess.
EDIT : where the Do planes get really interesting is above 7000 m and you can see yourself starting to out energy spits and all. Best feeling ever

I'm surprised that you haven't tried any of the 335s. I highly suggest you try the premium version. I use it to bully bombers early game then fighters late game with its excellent climbrate and firepower

Could you kindly consider giving the *Yak9P* a try. I recently played the Yak9U and due to its single shvak, I found securing kills to be very tough at times (possible skill issue) and most often i'd just run out of ammo. I tried it's bigger brother the Yak9P and I absolutely loved it. It is so versatile it's actually bonkers. You can kill bombers easily, you can kill some light tanks and SPAA's, you have a larger burst mass than the 9U.
It comes with 3 guns but two permanent B-20S cannons and the cannon in the middle, going through the engine, can be swapped to be either a B-20M, N-23 or the N-37 (all having less ammo than the B-20S cannons but still enough to be useful. The massive increase in versatility whilst still maintaining a fairly light airframe (not as light as the Yak9U) and very good top speed (enough to keep up with P51's in a straight line). Makes it a very excellent Jack of all trades plane.
You might be using the wrong belts for the Yak-9U. Air targets or stealth for the UBS 12.7mms are absolute flamthrowers, better than US tracer belts. Also, Shvaks were recently buffed to have the Frag rounds do MUCH more damage. Before the Shvak buff, the UBS were actually more reliable weapons than the shvaks and the 9U was superior to the 9P because of the lighter flight model.
I don't know when you last time fight a Spitfire but that thing catch, outclimb, outurn 190 or 109...

Even with radiator A1 and A0 overheat like crazy, but there are altitudes (around gear-switch alt) where it can kinda cool down, but I can't really remember them, the plane flies a bit slower there (still fast as f... boiiii), but the heat is not that much of an issue if you fully open the radiators.
And G2 trop is basically Bf 109 F4, only worse, the premium G2 is decent, I'd still take J2M2 or Yak-3 or XP-50 (4.0 or G.55 (4.0) or Fw 190 A5/U2 or Typhoon Mk1b over it any day, this leaves us with P-47 maybe being worse but I have like 0 experience with it :D
@@rainsilent G.55 is not a one trick pony. It has excellent dive and high speed turn. It's a reversal machine, v. capable at BnZ, climb and energy retention are good enough for energy fjghting + has 4 spammable 12,7mm MGs that often help me stop people trying to run away or energy trap me (1000m crits FTW, I love the HE bullet).
Most people can't fly G55. The trick is to make Bf 109F4 dive for me, once we both hit 600 IAS, he's dead unless I turn slightly too little (I sometimes get overconfident in my ability to just barely get out of gun arc, to score a slick reversal).
The death of G55 is of.course J2M2 and Spitfire Mk IX, and also Pyoerrsmyyyoasaaerrrski, but that's it.
G2 can win.vs Yak in an extended fight. But equal energy start at 4km or less? I'd place my money on Yak-3 "winning in vertical" is hard when getting pelted by Berezin, and G2 has to get out of Yak-3 guns first which may not work, because maneuvrability gap is obvious and duelling stall fighting is often a good way to get killed in random Air RB.
@@rainsilent G.55 is not a support plane and not a one trick pony. It's one of the most versatile planes in game and I wonder how can you post such uneducated opinions. The only disadvantage of G.55 is relatively poor level flight speed. Roll is good id you know how to boost it with rudder + it compresses little compared to other planes around the BR, armanent is good, nose authority is good, energy retention is good, climb is good, high alt performance is good, and turn rate is only used for final shots or to get 1st turn advantage, because turnfighting is generally not the best idea with multiple opponents around. I score most of my kills via energy traps and BnZ, with a good number of kills being a result of a reversal. I use turn just to get quick shots and to perform dodges, flying circles is a way to get killed, and it seems you have never played the plane right. The turn is "workable" in 1 v 1, but getting into equal energy 1 v 1 ratefight is usually a sign that you've already made a mistake. Maybe by your logic plane has to be excellent everywhere to not be a "one trick pony"? I consider a plane that can do it (almost!) all fairly well the very opposite of one trick pony. You want "one trick pony" - try Ta-152C3 or A6M3. G.55 is on the other end of spectrum, as a solid all-rounder.
What's your number of battles and kills per battle in G.55?
@@rainsilent Also the speed advantage of Bf 109 is not that great, at 1000 it's 571 vs 541. At 4000 it's 636 vs 603. Noticeable? Yup! But Bf 109 F4 will cook itself even with MEC if it WEPs for a prolonged time on a hot map even with 1000% radiators and I can run G.55 with a mostly closed rad while keeping most of engine power with MEC, this means the speed difference in a prolonged chase is negligible. Also G.55 can use alt way better, I can perform succesful attacks at higher speed than in Bf 109 F4, which means I don't have to throttle down and I can keep higher speed during zoom part.
@@rainsilent And Deckard easily won not because Bf 109 "stopped doing spiral climbs" but because good player can hit a spiral climbing plane from 1000m away if he's doing it right and Bf 109 can't just let Yak-3 disengage, because Yak is way faster at lower alt and like G.55, it can create very deadly reversals. When 2 planes with little performance difference meet, the more maneuvrable plane wins, and that's what happens in most Yak-3 vs G2 duels up to 4km. And of Yak is higher than G2 for whatever reason, it's guaranteed game over. This is not a "duelling game" and "slowly building advantage" is a good way to get killed.
@@rainsilent LOL typical barely over 50% WR talk. Just because you're barely above average player doesn't mean others have the same problems as you do. So all of the sudden the plane is "support" because it's a bit slower than F4. True "ace" logic. By that logic US teams win all games because if they want, they can climb to space and run all match. But the reality is different. The reality is, you should really git gud before you make outlandish claims. And reality in my case is, I'm getting excellent results by NOT turnfighting people, because "it turns good" is how people with 52% WR understanding of the game play.
Also learn to MEC, because that's where "bad climb" stems from. Woth MEC it can make Bf 109 F4 cook itself in a chase. Indeed it can't just "fly above" everyone and expect success, but it doesn't have to since once it hits higher speed, G.55 is the winner of the contest, and what turn kinda helps with is Germans at co-energy. What it can't fight are planes that are broken OP (J2M2) or Pyorremskiekmsrrrs, which luckily is slower, but that's it.
Once again, the plane works great in a large number of scenarios. This makes it way more versatile than Bf 109 F4, which is often either "energy advantage or death", because it can't really reverse anyone "easily" (not a great roll, bad turn, compresses as hell at speed, so GL), and "running away" sounds nice in theory, but in practice with 100% rads almost everyone (but Zeros and some Spitfires) can match or exceed your speed. Oh and vs XP-50 F4 is royally shafted (XP-50 can do everything F4 does, but better + has airspawn). G.55 just waits for XP-50 to dive after it to use the fwct XP-50 compresses just a tiny bit earlier than F4.

But the TLDR is i have it off because it doesn't change in terms of orientation of my plane
If you have it off, keep it off and vice versa if you have a good amount of experience with it.
But in my opinion it's better to have it off

Can you do all air to air missiles ranking, which of them are identical (aim 9j and P for example, or shafrir and aim9b) which are more consistent or easily distracted so it is easier for new pilots like me, because there are alot of variants of missiles, but some of them have identical stats and stuff, thank you
