@@lilliancaroon4961 no I mean they just did with THIS trailer. The first few minutes was the honest trailer for Bee Movie. That's the joke I was trying to make
That's because the kids needed to have American accents to be sure that American children can understand them. This happens a lot in kids films, the main characters are American, but other characters are not so that the filmmakers can sort of give you a sense of being in the place of the film is set.
This trilogy means so much to me. I was about 10 or 9 when the first when came out and now I’m 19, but what’s great about this trilogy is not that I grew up with it but that the characters grew with the audience as well.
Hiccup and Toothless are great inspirations to disabled kids. By the end of the first movie, both are missing important body parts and yet they find a way to be great in spite of it.
I have a feeling you'll like The Dragon Prince, it's an animated series made by the creators of Avatar: The Last Airbender, with dragons, and Scottish elves
If you want to see more character developments, the cartoon Network and Netflix series are great. They show the progression of the dragons assimilation into Berk's culture, how the characters mature over time, and the series explore the world of dragons a lot. There are characters that don't enter the films, my understanding is that it's very intentionally set up so there isn't crossover. That way you can enjoy the movies without needing to see the show, and vice versa
Ok hot take, I found the show to be a bit disappointing and it's almost completely the twins' fault. Take all, or even some, of the "the twins being annoying" scenes out and the show would have better pacing, a tone that is more similar to the movies (which is, in my opinion, more enjoyable), and more time to explore the main story and other characters. (Also improve the characterization of everyone besides Hiccup and Astrid and for god's sake use the incredible httyd soundtrack better but those are more minor points) but yeah I mean I guess I did watch all eight seasons in like three weeks so it can't be that bad especially if you're just looking for further characterization on the main cast.

In the first film, there was just enough character development for the other teenagers based on their role in the story. There was a lot of character development on the TV shows. It's a solid movie series, and the trailer reflects that. Have you guys watched the Netflix series? The supporting characters actually get a decent chunk of character development in that (...which the 2nd movie sort of seems to undo in favor of a dumb love triangle). Fishlegs actually gets a girlfriend who's initially introduced in the first season and developed over time, but unfortunately she's not in the movies. The Oscars rely on a list of voters who often haven't seen a good percentage of the movies nominated, and the cartoon movies are one of the categories that are most likely to have not been seen (unless the people voting have kids). It often boils down to voting for the one they've heard of, and should never be taken seriously by anyone.
Yeah I am STILL angry about that. Since that moment, Oscar has been suck with me. And if the final (I watched it) doesn't win as the Star Wars one, OOOHHHHHH BOOOOOYYYYYYYY, brave yourself, Wargon is coming.
To be fair, Fishlegs, Snotlout, Ruffnut and Tuffnut have had amazing character development in Dragons: Race to the Edge. Their personalities had really peaked in the bonus series. Maybe they should’ve shown it better in the second and third movies, though
Emily Hadley I’m 35 and I enjoy watching the httyd movies and series with my 2 daughters, I love it just as much as they do, toothless is just too cute and even though I’m not into any sort of romance I love the relationship between Hiccup and Astrid
Myself as well but if you look at the potters displayed in that segment, The Lion Witch and Wardrobe is absent but the sequels are there... Prince Caspian wasn't that bad actually, but they took too many liberties. Same with Dawn Treader.
@FearlessAstridHofferson I don't know, Disney's track record of parents killed in story (rather than backstory) is pretty much 50/50. You have Bambi's mum and you have Mufasa for individual deaths. And then you have Tarzan parents (not killed on screen, but you kind of see THEIR BODIES), and Elsa and Anna parents. So... it could have gone either way for Stoic and Valka.
They were gonna kill Gobber but changed their mind. It’s because Hiccup would have never become chief with his dad still alive. So killing him forces Hiccup to become the chief since he had no desire to ever do it.
Well there is that tragedy of Walt Disney losing his parents in the accident that may have lead to the whole losing parents thing in most of the Disney movies
Read all the books to my kids. Totally different world (it at least explains why there are some useless support characters in the movie trying to keep up with the story cast)
Jerk Jerkington I know, right? And the plot was basically the opposite. The society already had dragons and the chiefs son got a really wimpy dragon and had to learn to cope with that, rather then the movies which are about a society which hates dragons and the really wimpy kid gets a strong dragon.
@@Saxinful How to Train Your Dragons book series. It's is amazing, when I have kids, I will totally read it for them. The characters development was surprisingly complex for a Junior book, the concept of heroism that is touched upon the progress of Hiccup really made me think about it. I really recommend it, even if it is a child's story.
Yeah, now that I think about it, the movies don’t really have any character development for Snoutlout, Fishlegs, Ruffnut & Tuffnut. You’d have to watch the TV series on Netflix
MizaT11 Wait they aren’t cannon? I thought they were. Like how the clone wars was cannon for the movies. They seem cannon because they explain how Stoik got his rumble horn and they reference Draco at the end of the series

I watched the third movie just yesterday... What an ending to a brilliant franchise. As a 25-year-old it's probably one of my favorite animated movies in recent years.

FlawedCoil82 yep, official releases here in Australia, I’m not sure exactly when they were released though but I know series three is being released in April here
Yeah, it's a bit frustrating that the other riders get the short stick in the films. Heck, even Astrid's development was nonexistent in the second movie (she fares far better in the other two, thankfully, but still I'd wish she had had a bit more). The TV show is where they all truly shine.
Really? you waste a perfect opportunity to talk about a mother who leave her only child beacouse its impossible to talk about dragons aren´t so bad to her husband, and 16 years later she discover her son she left does in like... three months! She leave for nothing! And he forgives her! And he is disabled and she doesn´t feel guilty at all!
While I completely see your point, to be fair, even if she learned to control the dragons and did fly back to Berk, Stoic still saw her get kidnapped by a dragon and he might have continued to harbor a hatred since he hadn't ever actually seen dragons be good before that. However, with Hiccup, Toothless never kidnapped Hiccup and he actively protected him throughout the movie, so Stoic got more exposure to dragons being fundamentally good rather than just evil being controlled.
@@To0othless it's definitely a book series for younger children. The Vikings have names like Gobber the Belch and Big Boobied Bertha (which is a fantastic name) after all.
To0othless they’re really easy and really quick reads so you don’t lose to much from checking them out. They are children’s books tho so they are a little shallow but, just like Harry Potter, get darker and (slightly) more grown up as the series progresses. Still a fun read imo.
I adored the books as a kid, went to see the first film and was so utterly and completely disappointed. Where was my tiny green dragon that was actually toothless!?
@@To0othless they were pretty shallow but short till like 10th book..but so dark after that. Yeah I am STILL angry about that. Since that moment, Oscar has been suck with me. And if the final (I watched it) doesn't win as the Star Wars one, OOOHHHHHH BOOOOOYYYYYYYY, brave yourself, Wargon is coming.
But I love Toy Story 3. It's my favorite of all the Pixar movies.
Dammit Lydia stop stepping in front of me when I'm using fire Magic.

Been waiting this since 2010. Damn, its been 9 years
gonna be that person. First honest trailer video was in 2012. Lol but yeah I've been waiting for it for a long time, too.
This trailer gave me the Hiccups.
XD

👏👏👏
This is proof that everyone loves how to train your dragon
The beginning of the video made me like jazz.
How to properly clean your metal computer this is stealing!
So
Ya like Jazz?
The amazing speakers on a clean metal computer helps the music come through masterfully.
Do you like Huey Lewis and the News?
Saw the third movie and I really had a good time! Glad that the film surprised me with a different ending than the one I theorized.
Same, did you cry at the end
I cried so much, the finale was so heart broken and warming
@@chrysanderconstantinou1960 no, but it totally could have

Please do an Honest Trailer for Akira (1988) since it’s 2019!
The original or the remake?
@@DigiRangerScott Well, since he said 1988, i'm pretty sure it is the original, that takes place in 2019
gustavo duarte There are SIXTEEN versions of Akira
Scott Sandler I’d assume he’d mean the original animated version. Real question depends if they’d do the sub or the 80s or 2001 dub.
I mean just the film itself, regardless of sub or dub.
Say: "Do you bite your thumb at me, sir?"
Say this “ some people move on, bananas...... nanas”
Thats from the avengers endgame trailer lol
Lettuce* not nanas
The original how to train your dragon film is one of the best films ever. the opening scene is just too damn good!.
To be fair, Fishlegs, Snotlout, Ruffnut and Tuffnut have had amazing character development in Dragons: Race to the Edge. Their personalities had really peaked in the bonus series. Maybe they should’ve shown it better in the second and third movies, though
Say "there are too many mozzarella snakes on this macaroni plane"
Aren't you supposed to use cheddar for mac n cheese? Mozzarella is better on pizza.
I'm a teenager now and yet I still am going to see How To Train Your Dragon 3 for my second time. Never grow up guys!
They're good movies.
'Nuff said
I'm 28 and still going to see the movie. Hell, I played Kingdom Hearts 3.
Fight me about my age, gurl!
Emily Hadley I’m 35 and I enjoy watching the httyd movies and series with my 2 daughters, I love it just as much as they do, toothless is just too cute and even though I’m not into any sort of romance I love the relationship between Hiccup and Astrid
I like Narnia
Obviously
Myself as well but if you look at the potters displayed in that segment, The Lion Witch and Wardrobe is absent but the sequels are there...
Prince Caspian wasn't that bad actually, but they took too many liberties. Same with Dawn Treader.
Yessssss
Jack the Giant Slayer was decent.
Cool.
It still hurts that they killed Hiccup's father, right after they found his mother. Were they going by Disney rules?
Well there is that tragedy of Walt Disney losing his parents in the accident that may have lead to the whole losing parents thing in most of the Disney movies
geardog24 wait he died!!!
The guy who co-wrote and directed the Httyd series also worked on Lilo and Stitch, so. Yeah. Probably.
You forgot to mention that it is based of off a amazing book series where almost every plot is the compete opposite
Read all the books to my kids. Totally different world (it at least explains why there are some useless support characters in the movie trying to keep up with the story cast)
What books?
I remember my kids were so into it they cried when Snotlout did the thing he did in the books at the end (avoiding spoilers)
3:07 I loved the Lydia part! Oh Elder Scrolls Skyrim you got me obsessed, I even see you in different universes...
People requesting movies still in theaters clearly don't realize they need the DVDs/Blu-Rays to get the clips
They should do a honest trailer for avengers endgame
Yeah, now that I think about it, the movies don’t really have any character development for Snoutlout, Fishlegs, Ruffnut & Tuffnut. You’d have to watch the TV series on Netflix
@Bam Bi
Yeah, but they’re super annoying and idiotic in the series except for Fishlegs and a few good moments with the others.
Yeah
And even then, the shows aren't canon.
All the teens are just comedic relief and almost turn out to be idiotic/annoying/immature in the third movie.
MizaT11 Wait they aren’t cannon? I thought they were. Like how the clone wars was cannon for the movies. They seem cannon because they explain how Stoik got his rumble horn and they reference Draco at the end of the series
Jerk Jerkington Yeah they did. I never got to finish reading the series, I only got to the book where Hiccup was exiled due to the slave mark
The harsh realism in that Game of Thrones reference at the begginning though, I love honest trailers. :)
Now can you do Into The Spiderverse?
Excelsior!
DVD is out in about 3 weeks, It won't be long now ;)
Favorite movie of all time.
This movie trilogy is my all time favourite. Saw the first one at least 10 times, last two i went to the cinema on premier date.
The 3rd movie had me chokin on my tears :) But i chuckled on this trailer a lot. Great job guys.
Hey epic voice dude, you forgot Stardust. That's a pretty good fantasy movie.
And the original Narnia, the lion, the witch and the wardrobe. It's not LOTR level, but it was a good movie. And tgis trailer had the other 2 Narnia movies in the list.
menno graafmans in the terrible section...
Stardust completely sucked imo, Narnia 1 though, was pretty good
One of my all time favorites!
@@ThreadBomb yeah, I thought that too. I did like stardust
Finally! Been waiting on this one for _years_
I watched the third movie just yesterday... What an ending to a brilliant franchise. As a 25-year-old it's probably one of my favorite animated movies in recent years.
Please do Monty python and the holy grail!
You know what? Hell Yeah!!!
Say: "I love the bee movie"
Sorry 😂
I LOVE THIS SO MUCH!!! This is my favorite franchise ever and this trailer was great. Loved all the refrences with the starring bit, though toothless could just as easily have been, Bat-Cat Dog-Lizard. Love it
Who else remembers the tv show "Riders of Berk"?
I do!
I actually think it’s still going on CBBC last time I checked...
Have watched the entirety of the Netflix show from start to end my friend. Not as good as the films but still pretty good
Right here. What about *Defenders*
I do, but I never watched it. I watched Race to the Edge
Can you do one for Star Trek: Discovery, so Dan can finally catch up?
But do you want him to suffer through STD though
@@adzinco6916 No one should suffer through STD.
Let's not forget that the music for this movie is so spectacular. This movie should have won best animated movie and best score.

Loved this but wish you mentioned the Tv show Dragons: race to the edge
He spent most of this one just talking about other movies...
Yeah, they always say that when they have to make an honest trailer for a really good movie, they usually deflect to making fun of other movies because they have nothing negative to say about the movie they are supposed to be doing.
Been waiting for this for a long time
Already got our tickets for How to Train Your Dragon 3!!
I just have to get this out there. Rise of the Guardians is the most underrated Dreamworks movie.
I love this series! Can't wait for the 3rd movie! I also am happy that they are finally bringing out "Dragons: Race To The Edge" on DVD too! The first two seasons just came out today!
FlawedCoil82 I’ve had the race to the edge seasons 1 & 2 dvds for about a month now, waiting on season 3 to be released in April! Must’ve came out earlier where I live
For real?! Are they the official releases? And not the "Riders/Defenders Of Berk" series? They just came out here today in America.
FlawedCoil82 yep, official releases here in Australia, I’m not sure exactly when they were released though but I know series three is being released in April here
What do you mean with "cant wait for 3rd movie". It has been out for over a month
Wow that's cool! I don't know if Amazon is correct but they are saying Seasons 3-6 all come out in March here... Odd

There is character development in the TV series, where there is dagger who gets a great character arc

Feel good family fun!
She does feel guilty but I see you're point. 😂😌
And a hero who is told that the bad guy don't listen to him multiple times and is crazy and hiccup still thinks he can talk to drago

Oliver Nutkins-Middleton
I'm curious but I’m afraid they're being addressed to a too young audience, is that true?
I recently finished the series, bcz back then they were so many, and even in my adulthood, I got so so scared reading the last one. Intense. Heart wrenching. And the prologues and epilogues scream of things only an ancient man can write and truly understand.
Now do a good, somewhat older fantasy movie: Excalibur (1981).
After watching this movie I so wanted to have a pet . The relationship between toothless and hiccup made me cry so much in the last part , I was wondering how can a movie be so heartwarming . It was so brilliantly written and the end was so satisfying
