Big help on the deciding factor for me, Thanks man.
Glad I could help!
Thanks. With my winter (60'F) the extra air flow with cents closed is fine! Thanks heaps, I have more info for my decision!
Glad I could help!
Excellent video!! I attached a Packtalk SLIM comm system to mine. Took a little doing, but it works - and looks - FAB!! Got the RF-1200 Dedicated . . .
Thanks! And nice!
Great review, its looking more and more like im going with this guy for my second helmet, need an upgrade thats quieter and has room for speakers!
Hey thanks! And I genuinely believe you won't be disappointed. I love this lid.
Awesome review, seems like I need this lid, be safe always👍
Many thanks! Likewise!
love your videos, keep going~!!!
Thanks!
Excellent review, bud! I am looking to upgrade my lid from an Icon Dark Helmet and I am looking very closely at Shoei, this one or the RF-S.R. Thank you very much. Liked and subbed!
Hey many thanks! Glad I could help!
Nice video.
Needed a review of this helmet from a naked bike owner. I'm on a Street Triple currently so wind noise is a big factor.
I need to replace my HJC RPHA 10 Plus (it's a few years old and not great).
This looks like one of the best helmets out there. Now to go shopping!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed, hope it helped!
I just bought this helmet on eBay for about 150 total and I needed some affirmation. Thanks for sharing!
Nice!
"Now, I'm not sure if you've ever ridden a naked motorcycle..." What about a motorcycle naked?
🤣🤣🤣🤣
This came at the perfect time honestly. Cant wait to finish the video and see what you say
Hope it helped!
@@JonDotCom7 It did, and now I want it. I'm just afraid the 45mm JBL speakers wont fit and will smash my ears while touring.
@@PullyRacing I'm not sure how they compare to Sena, but the Sena fit perfectly
100% love this helmet. Also have an Arai Corsair X and love it too. Both are amazing helmets and well worth the price. Premium gear is worth it. Suggestion: If you wear a sport oriented balaclava in the winter or brisk fall days you won’t be bothered by extra air flow.
Cheers to that!
Excellent helmet. I went with a white helmet and added the Transitions face shield. Most comfortable lid I’ve ever owned
I agree! I also have the transitions, so clutch!
Dude... 2 minutes in and I'm subbed to your channel. Awesome.. awesome review, brother. Question for you: What mount are you using for your GoPro?
Haha thanks my dude! Much appreciated! I use a few basic gopro parts, normal adhesive mount and a couple arms. Since I was unable to mount the gopro directly in the middle where I like it, I searched Amazon for a curved gopro arm and works perfectly.
chinmounts.com/collections/mounts/products/shoei-rf-1200-chin-mount
This is what I use and it’s perfect.
As a first responder, I didn’t know about the quick release tabs. Thank you
Cheers!
Thanks
managed to get this for $400 off motorcyclegear in clearance. love it. i think i need bigger cheek pads to get less wind coming up into the side padding. if i had a more aggressive positioned bike my tucked shoulders would block almost all wind.
Nice! Did you happen to order a size too big?
Check out chin mounts - they make a dedicated RF 1200 mount for GoPro
Was watching this review on my smart tv and came here on the phone just to make the same comment. Just ordered mine some days ago.
Great helmet. Only issue is the loud whistle with visor up at anything over 40-45 mph. It’s louder than any helmet I’ve owned, especially the 4 currently. Whatever causes it was corrected on the 1400, which I bought bc the 1200 was so good. The fit and finish are on point, especially for the price point.
Couldn't agree more!
This helmet is also known as Shoei Nxr in Europe and as Shoei Z7 in Asia.
Living in Thailand I can say I never get cold with this ventilation system)))
Nice, thanks!
Solid review of a solid lid pun intended lol.
Lol thanks!
Have the RF1000 .. Great helmet, sadly now falling apart (internally). Well, I've been away from riding motos for longer than I would like to admit. Need a new helmet and this video helps me come back to another Shoei .. Thanks.
Cheers!
Thanks to your review, I went to one of my LBS and tried on the RF1200. It fit like a glove .. I went ahead and ordered one in my color choice.
As said you tested this helmet on your sport bike in the leaning forward position. But how is the viewing for a touring bike owner? I have heard that viewing is not the best what's your thoughts. Thanks
What's great about this helmet, is it's not perfect at one sole thing, but quite good at nearly everything. I ride a super-naked bike and am mostly upright, I've never given any thought to my view as I don't have any issue with it.
Where I can get the GoPro arm extension to position the camera in the middle of the helmet? I went to the GoPro website and didn’t see anything.
Same here🤔
There are a few gopro mounts make specifically for this helmet.

hi, between the rf1200 and the hjc rpha11 carbon which would you pick??
Although the HJC looks awesome, my bias will probably make me pick the shoei. It's just too good lol
i have this helmet, and funny enough the gsxs1000, but there is a guy that 3D prints a gopro mount for this helmet with that weird curve so it sticks flush up front, just got mines works great
Ha that's awesome!
Have you ever worn HJC and if so how would you compare it to the RF-1200 Thx
My wife wears a snell-rated HJC and she loves it. As you could probably gather from the video, I'm a big proponent for a quiet helmet and I'd like to take hers for a ride but I think hers is too small for me. I'll have to give it a try when some snow melts.
I wear prescription eye glasses when I ride, would there be any issue you think? I currently daily a GMAX XXL I feel it is a tad big but fits comfy with my glasses, no pressure points but I do feel the helmet might move more than it should. Thank.
I don't wear glasses, so I had to do a little research. From what I've found, people are saying it comfortably allows for glasses.
@@JonDotCom7 Wow thank you for going out and doing that research for me. Really appreciate it. I did a little but didn't find much.
@@M82Predator no problem!
@@JonDotCom7 my matte black RF1200 will be at my doorstep in the next 2 days! Picked up the new cardo packtalk black to go with it, so sleek!
@@M82Predator nice!
Can give the brand name and model of the Go Pro clamp unshowed here
Updated the description to include the link!
Shoie RF 1200 vs Simpson Ghost Bandit. Any suggestions?
If it's between the two, I'd have to choose the shoei, I'm a sucker for snell. Personally, I'm not a fan of how the Simpson looks, but I could see why it'd appeal to a lot of people.
I like the helmet but the lack of sun visor it's kinda a deal breaker, what do you think?
To some it may be, but a big reason why I got it is the option to have the photocromatic transitional shield, which I did buy, so it transitions from dark smoke in sunlight, to clear after sunset, so I never have to worry about changing shields.
@@JonDotCom7 That's just my second option, but it's so expensive. A proof that you can't have everything in life. Thanks for the reply.
@@ether-man3074 yeah it's outrageously expensive, but, worth it to me, just for the convenience.
Did you upgrade the speakers on the Sena?
Nope, I use what came in the box for the 30k.
Thanks
I have a older RF1000 that I am getting to retire. Its a Medium size and fits me well. Would you recommend the RF1200 in medium as well?
I would say yes, but you might be hard pressed to find the RF1200 now since the RF1400 is out.
@@JonDotCom7 Found awesome deal on a closeout for a RF-1200 Variable. $325 in medium.
@@atxjax1 nice! Snag it!
@@JonDotCom7 OK cool. Thanks for the info.
@@atxjax1 sure thing!
So how quiet is this helmet really?
I ride a 08 YZF R6 and I’m a speed demon at times. Would I be picking up a lot of wind noise if I’m going over 100mph?
My bell helmet has so much noise it feels like a damn vacuum is constantly in my ear. I hate it. I need a quiet helmet badly.
I've gone over 140mph on my gsxs1000, which is s naked bike with an upright riding position and this helmet is super super quiet. I also have a Bell, so I know how you feel.
@@JonDotCom7 So should I really upgrade to this helmet then? Some people are still complaining about the wind noise which concerns me. I wouldn’t want to spend that amount of money on this helmet and still hear the same amount of noise as I do on my my bell qualifier.
@@1ofdrsfinest I'm really surprised to hear anyone complain about wind noise with this helmet. I have a healthy collection of helmets and this is by far the most quietest, and I can't recommend it enough.
@@JonDotCom7 guess I got my answer. I will be buying the helmet then. Seems so much better than my bell qualifier. Seems much lighter too. This bell helmet is heavy and makes me feel like a bobble head during high speeds
Does it come with that nose guard thing inside the helmet as well or is that sold separately?
Short answer : Yes
Long answer : Yeah
😅
So you mean to tell me you ride in under 45 degrees and your cold hmmm I don't think that's a Helmet issue 🤔
You failed to mention that this helmet design is going on 8 years old. It needs updated badly for the $ they ask for it. RF-SR is a better buy for the $.
Meh, to each their own. I like the 1200 over the SR.
Please explain how mounting a GoPro to your helmet increases your personal safety.
Incidentals homie.
Provides evidence of dumb shits doing dumb stuff that cause you harm. So really there's no avoidance ability provided, just evidence for court.
It’s a dash cam but for your motorcycle lol I just picked up the hero 8 and a media mod.. can’t go wrong it’s on sale right now for $299
Got a Strada II and wish I could afford a Shoei. Shoei is for rich people. They have put their price point so high that most riders can't actually afford to get a Shoei with all the add ons. You're looking at $750 after tax, unless you don't get the auto darkening shield (you kind of need the auto darkening shield for normal sport touring). If you want an add on Bluetooth, you up to $900 or more. It's not acceptable. I got a Strada II with a flip down sun shield inside, and it has a full Sena bluetooth system for only $350. It has a very thick heavy gauge fog proof visor, standard. I am having trouble understanding why the people at Shoei are so mean. Why are they making these helmets so expensive? You can get a small street legal bike in good condition for the cost of these helmets.
Eh idk, I think they are kinda pricey but not unacceptably expensive. If you ever get a chance to ride with a shoei, you'll understand just how different they are from a lower tier helmet.
Can I wear Rx Eyewear with this lid ?
Yes, my cousin wears glasses and has this lid.
@@JonDotCom7 Thanks !
@@wb4514 no problem!
@@JonDotCom7 has this helmet been discontinued?
@@wb4514 not that I'm aware of, but there is a newer version (RF1400).
Don't buy this helmet it has a gap and air gets by the shield. Worst helmet I ever owned. Don't buy this helmet or you'll be sorry.
Wow I'm very surprised to hear that, it's probably the best helmet I've ever owned. Maybe you had a one-off dud?
