For some reason, it still does not work. I get errors saying "Error: Error generated by Python node. Specified UV attribute not found on Input 1." Am I missing something here?
For me what worked was changing in the Normal node, instead of add normals to attributes, add normals to points. I also did a smaller offset in the collisionÑ 0.003 instead of 0.01
If anyone is having trouble with the Switch node at timecode 18:27, change the Switch's input to 1. It will then show the simulation. Again. Beautiful tutorial. So thankful for your work.
can I just say that I used to hate houdini with a passion for years because the way you have to work in it just makes me unreasonably angry, but your tutorials are so charming that I‘m actually having FUN while going through them great work
This is the best tutorial series I think I've seen for any program. Thank you for taking the time to make it so thorough & to not rush through explanations for what is happening in Houdini; this helps so much with information retention to have it fully explained rather than just glossed over for basic practical use.I can't wait to see more from you!!
Hey Riley, thanks for the incredible feedback! That really is a massive compliment. I'm truly grateful for the time taken to watch these tutorials. Have a good one!
Actually the best tuto serie for houdini! - just in this tutorial, may be because its the 20.0 version - I have an issue at 19:43, when I transfer Attribute from the Normal node to the Transfer node, all sprinkles stand straight up, then when I plug the Scatter node instead of the Normal node, everything is fine. I don't understand why, but :) I'm so happy to learn through
I wasted 30 mins figuring out why I can't make the particles stick to my icing surface. It s because the merge order in the merge node. staticobject must be on the left and popsolver must be on the right
Yes, you can also select the merge node, and drag the static object up, or just set the Affector Relationship to mutual so the order doesn't matter. YOU ARE A PROJECT-LIFESAVER!
I wasn't getting the sprinkles to stick, until I went into the popsolver and switched response unchanged to stick. Then it worked fine. Thanks for these videos!
Hey man just wanted to say I really appreciate these tutorials. I have a really hard time with long drawn out tutorials and these are so concise and clear. Thanks a lot hope life is treating you well!
This is one of the best tutorials on YT for Houdini! Thank you! You have a great way of explaining complicated systems in a simple and easy to understand way.
OMG thank you for letting me know that Houdini is so much fun! I went to bed thinking what I want to do with houdini and what I need to practice for the next day. Learning has never been so exciting before. What you did is amzing and please keep it going.
your tutorial is one of the best ever in Houdini ... clear and neat , you are so talented in teaching , please keep on doing more and more and God bless you
Quick, understandable, educational, perfect! None of this typical hours of my life sacrifice bs I was use to seeing. Just gets to the point and lets us use our own brain to expand and start getting creative. Thank you!
I've learnt soo much just from this one video. Especially important points dealing with points, primitives etc. Good stuff! Please dont stop making these videos.
Bro, thank you SO MUCH for these tutorials. They are great! That little graphic thing you did to show the anatomy of the solve blew my mind. Thank you so much for taking the time to explain all of these for us in such a patient manner
I got to the part where the particles bounce off and my simulation wasn't working. Took me 20 minutes to figure out that the order you connected the "popsolver" & "staticobject" to the "merge1" node mattered. If you connect the popsolver first and then the staticobject, the particles will not bounce off. Lesson learned: ORDER MATTERS.
i was inspired, for me change the order doesn't matter, what matters is where you plug the node in, i actually merged the static with the popobject and it worked fine i think
Hey man!! I was willing to learn how to use houdini and the way you teach and explain things is just amazing. Thanks for your videos!!! I hope you keep going on for a long time!!!
I've watched many tutorials such as Blender and Adobe programs. and I just started learning Houdini. You are the best tutorial I've ever seen. Especially, the tutorial files. You wrote down details of how you worked in the file, making it easier for us to study. Thank you so much. So I want to see your more tutorials. How many paid contents can I see if I support you?
when i plug the attribtransfer as you did at 19:20 , my sprinkles did not take in count the normals.. Someone have the same issue ? (great tutos btw ! thanks a lot) EDIT : Ok i found, in the normal node i did not change the "Normals to" into "points"... it did not pose a problem when sprinkles were not dynamics but it did just after... It's ok now !
This drove me nuts!! I solved it by connecting scatter node (the one after the normals node) into the second input of attribute transfer, but your way works too. Wish I would have sorted the comments by newest and read them a LOT sooner.
Just getting into Houdini again since I'm upgrading to where I can actually handle the load. Great tutorials so far, thanks! :) on a side note, felt the urge to say 16:45, everything denotes the asterix as everything :p
THANK YOU. I feel like most tutorial makers just want the masses to not succeed in houdini. This has made it all so clear to do some basic experimentation
I wish I found these videos sooner! I've worked in Maya (and MotionBuilder for anim) for years and I'm trying to transfer to Houdini since companies I'm talking to are moving over to it for character FX. I was using the tutorials recommended through Houdini and became frustrated and irritated. Things were also out of date and half the nodes wouldn't be in my version. Your videos are so easy to understand and don't make feel like an idiot for not knowing all of this immediately! Once I finish these beginner tutorials, I want to support your awesomeness! On your patreon, do you happen to have cloth/muscle/skin character setup how-tos? or vfx tutorials where you can transfer into Unreal? I'm looking for new job options lol
This is super useful bro. Thanks for things. I should have started with Houdini with the first place. It deserve the price & they should pay you in big numbers :D
Great help man, not sure if you are, happy with your base but you'll definitely grow with the quality of content. I've watched TONS of tuts and your uo there at the top. Would love if ya did Maya or nuke.
If anyone is having a problem with the particles not bouncing off the icing. When you connect the static object to the merge node, make sure the wires of popsolver and static object are not crossed. It seems the static object has to be to the left and the pop solver has to be to the right. Im referring specifically to the wires.
Just started houdini before I do a paid course and damn this is honestly amazing, I even added a star sprinkles with it so there's two types and that was awesome *high five*
Absolutely amazing! I think this is one of the best beginners' series for Houdini I've seen. One small suggestion though, there was a bit of noise with the voice-over it was a bit distracting. You can try to fix that in the next tutorial. Thanks!
Hey Devanshu, thanks for the feedback! Unfortunately I only noticed that background noise after recording. I tried to tone it down in post but couldn't remove it entirely. I'll do my best to make sure that the next part doesn't have any of that noise. All the best!
one of the few houdini content creators that treats the pupiles gentle, with friendly explanations for everything. Keep it easy

Thanks Bruno :) We'll be creating tutorials as long as we can. The community is great and it's a lot of fun!
19:38 if anyone had issues here, connect Scatter points to att. transfer instead of normals. It'll take the normal info from scatter.
For some reason, it still does not work. I get errors saying "Error: Error generated by Python node.
