Please don’t ever stop doing these Houdini tutorials videos😭🙏🏻 cause you are the only one that help me understand Houdini sooooo much. Your videos are really helpful thank you so much for making these videos more easier to understand 😭
Man I finally found somebody who explains houdini super easy. Cant thank you enough. Didnt know where to start learning but you videos are helping me understand so much! thank you please keep it upp
same here. Extremely useful content. 99% of workshops and tutorials out there are above beginner level and it's quite stressful when you start learning from them.
Your tutorials are so high quality! You are really thinking from the beginner's view and make things beginner friendly. And so many motion graphics added to the video to help demonstrating. Can't believe all of these are free. Thank you so much!
@@alan_schezar I am a bit annoyed cause I am blender actif, and the blender give u node access also and improve overtime this field as result if I spend time learning houdini I affect my blender learning curve... And houdini takes some time unfortunatly Houdini stop me a bit cause i do not feel a Road Map in term of tutorial.. :(
That explanation about Vertices vs Points was PERFECT! Other softwares doesn't have this distinction presented to the user, so it was something that I was having a hard time to understand, like "why tf my cube has 24 vertices!?" Now it all makes sense hahah Thank you for this series!
Doesnt mean in other software it is treated the same. your cube has 24 vertices because each can store multiple kinds of information, not only positions. you can have a cube with only 8 verts, although then it will have no seams/ hard edges.
All I wanna say is, man I FUCKING LOVE YOU FOR MAKING THIS, AND IN FUTURE I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER YOU AS A GREAT TEACHER WHO TAUGHT ME BASICS OF HOUDINI
Shake let you wiggle nodes free as well. Because the connectors were called noodles, we called it shaking your noodle. Pretty sure that action is why it was actually called shake. Shake and Houdini came out the same year.
I'm rewatching all the vids, before I was trying to remember what to place and edit and in what order, now im understanding why they are placed so im not limited to a job at the Krispy Cream marketing/pre-vis department.
why did u stop teaching ?! this is a great head start in Houdini most of the tutorials start from an intermediate view u are actually teaching from scratch amazing job! thanks! everything makes sense now!!
You said first that when you have two points connected (a line) that is called a primitive (4:20) then later you say a face/plane surface is called primitive?

How would you go about doing a colour ramp on the doughnut to give a lighter colour in the middle of it? I assume there's a quicker way than using separate groups on point/verts to make the difference. And I assume that way would allow for better blending. I've tried a few ways but can't get the ramps to work on the Doughnut. Thanks
Why did my "Sprinkles" node tree have such a different output from following your tutorial vs the file you provided? Yours has over 20 attributes and mine just has 2, and mine can't work with the "Static Mesh" node when making the dynamics? (It doesn't show any geometry at all, whereas when I used your file it showed up fine.)
You said that when 2 points are connected it becomes a primittive and that a vertex is a corner of 2 primitives. So is a line a primitive without any vertex?
I'm getting this error: Unable to load HFS OpenCL platform. Windows 10 GTX 1060 Acer Predator G3-571 I searched around and only found this solution: add "HOUDINI_OCL_DEVICETYPE = CPU" to houdini.env file. But it didn't work for me. Can someone help? Thanks!
SOLUTION: I got stuck at the part where the sprinkles were standing straight, and even after I added attribute transfer node correctly, it was still straight. On normal's node, check if the "Add Normals to" is set to "Points" or not. It should be Points, not 'Primitive'. Your welcome. May God increase his mercy on all of us, even more. Ameen.
Hey! Not at all. I'm quite sure the team at Houdini even encourage it so that more people can put out resources. I haven't had any problems and I haven't heard of any one else having any problems. All the best!

Thank you so much for sharing those houdini tutorials with us. They are very helpfull and very well explained.
Thanks again
Lifesaving info, top-notch presentation. Thanks!

lol, that's fascinating, I didn't know that. Interesting that they both had that functionality seemingly independently. Thanks for the info!
For switching nodes connected to Switch/Merge you can also use a shortcut Shift+R when the combining node is selected.

Sounds like free donuts to me
That 'wiggle to disconnect' trick is from the days of Shake (a compositing tool) - it even took its name from the action of wiggling it to detach it.
You're a such wonderful teacher, thank you❤
This is very useful. Thank you.
Thanks for sharing this tutorial is so helpful since I'm starting Houdini 😊
Superb overview.
