I wish this very interview just went on and on.... I have tremendous respect for Nandita Das as an actor or a director, for sure, but more importantly as a person of substance. She is one of the most 'no-nonsense' persons in her field. Can't wait to watch 'Manto'..... and want to hear her more, read her more, and, if the right kind of directors are watching, see her act some more as well.
and nandita and konkona helped us dusky women look gorgeous.i think nandita taught me to realise dusky skin, a red kurta, some kohl and silver jewellery equalled gorgeous.

Nandita Das is trying to push Indian Cinema to great levels for a long time all i have to say is this extremely talented & beautiful woman deserves a bow for that cos she is truly pride of our nation & unsung hero of Indian Cinema.
Another sensible filmmaker who knows that editing is the most essential and often over-looked aspect of filmmaking. At the end of the day, how you edit is how the audience is gonna process the film.
Goodness she is iconic. Sad not many have seen her work. She is truly a legend.

Nawaz has been re-discovered as Manto by a great Director Nandita Das.. Firaaq is yet another fine story-telling.. would really want to see her as a mainstream director in Indian cinema..

Nandita is a very cute lady-- cute in her views n social activism, physique, cute in lifestyle i.e., simple, sobre, vocal n frank in views.

I always wondered how she cast Paresh Rawal and Dilip Joshi in Firaaq, considering their roles and also that they are both ardent BJP and Modi supporters with the former being a BJP MP
What's wrong with that? She is not at war with BJP. And unlike you, people do engage with others with different perspective.
You clearly haven't watched the movie then. In the movie she very explicitly shows that the government and government machinary insitgated the riots
Thing about these elite level supporters is they will deny role of BJP in riots, but deep down they know what happened. That is why they don't have any problem doing such movies, they are in the party just for the sake of it.
If you ask people like Anupam Kher, they don't want riots, yet they support yogi adityanath, because for them, only way inside politics is BJP.
