She bought it new the year after I was born. Would love to own one myself
Such a beautiful car! One thing I have never figured out with how some dealers prep a collector car for sale: why oh why do they insist upon using a parts store "close enough" touch up paint and brush touch up paint on chips? Yeah I know the little touch up bottle is only a couple of bucks vs. paying a professional painter $250 to mix up an exact blend and use his skill to expertly fill in chips so they don't stand out. Kudos to you and the dealer you bought the car from for actually doing reconditioning and trying to make everything to be in working order. More and more I am finding that even so called classic and collectible car dealers are doing zero reconditioning/repairs - some are not even doing a proper detailing, opting instead just for a standard in-house wash and vacuuming before lumping it out with the other sleds for sale.
Good morning! I actually did have the paint mixed to the factory specs. Of course it's rarely NEVER spot on. Good thing is, it can be washed out with some thinner for someone to try again. I do the best I can do. Thanks for the positive input!

This 1976 car is 25 years old and even though it is very low mileage the paint has aged. That, and the original paint is NLA means that it needs a painter with a sensitive eye to do this right. This appears to be a very nice car that if the next owner is willing to spend the time and money it could become a genuine stunner.
The radio has a memory saving battery (looks like a white AAA battery) that my have leaked and damaged the circuit board. I had the same radio in my 78 Chrysler Cordoba. Mine had trouble with left audio channel and that battery leaked acid and damaged the PC board trace. I was able to repair my radio but that was over 30 years ago so who knows condition of this one. The battery is easily able to be removed with a small pair of side cutters after removing top cover of radio.
LOL! My first car was a 66 300 (same body but with the 440, suregrip, handling package and bucket seats). I loved that car. You could fit seven people in the cab and four more in the trunk..... Don't ask me how I know.
My dad sold these new. He had a demo of one with the Touch Tune stereo (Which I believe this one has, got a glimpse of it but hard to tell, the camera moved around too fast). It was the coolest thing to see at 7 years old. All he had to do was punch in the numbers then enter and it would tune in a station. Hello!! It’s set to go live in the next couple of weeks! I have 300 plus detailed pictures as well as a cold start video and driving video. I’ll announce when it goes live! I appreciate it!
Buick, Lincoln, and now Ford don't make a full size car. My wife refuses to drive SUV's and I can't stand the ride of a truck, since that's what I drive daily. The problem with the malaise cars is mileage and all the vacuum issues of emissions, so we're looking into alternative emission system or even drivetrain swap. For what manufacturer's want for a new full size car, those who still make them, we have plenty of room to build a classic restromod cruiser. LOL! What are people supposed to do? I mean seriously.
I missed this one. Never was a Chrysler fan due to some problems but they are pretty cars. Better era. Better individually looking cars. I hate todays cars.
Chrysler's Leather Interiors put Lincoln and Cadillac to shame. For a 1975 car, there is NO comparison to this fabulous interior! The only design that sucks are those rims. They look like they came from a JC Whitney catalog (anyone old enough to remember JC Whitney?) I also believe the New Yorker had 4 Wheel ABS as an option. Only car in the world at the time with 4 wheel ABS (Lincoln and Cadillac were just for the rear wheels).
Not the electronic control box on the side of the breather....? There's a giant Carter lurking underneath that thing.....👹..... Think I'm in love though....❤️
This car is an Imperial.. the brand was discontinued after model year 1975 and Chrysler repurposed it as the New Yorker Brougham. Google provides examples of both the Brougham and the Imperial eagle hood ornaments. Perhaps the eagle was part of an option package.
Amazing it has that many rock chips with only 500 miles. Someone who buys this to drive will be investing several thousand dollars down the road. Not being driven and sitting causes problems once you start regularly driving them. It’s a beautiful car indeed.
Actually if you Google images of these cars you will find several others with that same ornament. It could be that it could have been special ordered that way. Thanks!!!

That rear "package shelf" should be made of stiff cardboard material. Neve seen one on any make made of "leather". It is made to look like leather, but is not. Super nice car, good luck with your auction.

When I was a young teenager a woman in our church had one of these. Meanwhile one of her sons had one also, and her other son had a Lincoln Continental. I have no idea whatever became of those three cars though.
Other than the 77 pinstriping, and the New Yorker Brougham badge being replaced with the Imperial badge on the header. . . The car looks extremely original condition. . .love those bumper corner guards!!!. . . Lovely NYB.
The 1974-1975 Imperial was basically the same as the 1976-1978 New Yorker with subtle differences. The rear side reflector/marker lights are different on the Imperial, the dash is slightly different, the vinyl top is a little different on the 4-door models and the 2-doors without the special roof, like this car has. But basically the Imperial & the New Yorker were identical. The biggest difference was a lot of standard features on the Imperial were moved to the options list for the New Yorker.
@@toirmetalshaping Yes & no. The Imperial had 4 wheel disc brakes, it also had auto headlights. What most people didn't know was you could special order a New Yorker with those features, even though it was not offered on the standard options list. Chrysler never knew how to market the Imperial, that is why it was never a sales success, because they were superior to a concurrent Cadillac.
Too bad about the paint chips and tearing the tire. Otherwise, wow! My dad bought a 67 New Yorker 2 door new with the 440 Commando. He was 28 at the time. In a world full of muscle cars he went for a pillow soft ride with huge power. One of his previous cars was a Cadillac. Muscle cars never tripped his trigger. He also bought a 1975 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale, white with a super soft velour interior. That was the last of his cushy cars. He changed gears and bought Suburbans and Mercury Sables. He liked the 88 Mercury Sable with the 3.8. He definitely loved 30mpg on the interstates.
You know that was a topic of debate. During the auction some experts came on the thread and said that was something that could have been ordered from the factory. I cannot say with certainty, but that being said this car was untouched!
The trouble with buying a car like this as some sort of collectible or investment is that you can never, ever drive it. Every mile you put on this thing will depreciate its value since its value is in its 'from the showroom' appearance. Which is sad since this is an awesome vehicle despite its horrible build quality and lousy gas mileage.
Nice car - but why is the batter negative terminal changed after only 500 miles? I have a 74 Newport with over 200,000 miles and still original. Also, hose for Dist. advance is off/missing. Rug looks like it damaged from wet spots.
Battery was changed and it was done before I received the car. Anything is possible with a 43. year old battery terminal. And there are no stains that I see. NO water damage.
I don't want to be "that guy," but the right front fender has odd panel gaps, the front bumper is riding .5-inch low and the pinstripes are 1977-style. Are you sure this car has not been repainted?
100% sure this car is a non repaint and totally correct. Went to an expert collector in Nevada for nearly $40,000. He had offers of $50,000 and he turned them down because of the originality and rareness of the New Yorker.
Brings back so many memories my parents had a 76 model. They really float down the road!

You can see the New Yorker Brougham badge on the trunk.
@@christianbugatticg
It is not the correct hood ornament
That rx7 tho 😍😍😍
A keeper!! lol
What is the name of your website. I found a couple of competion cars sites but none of your older stuff was on them
This will be offered on Bring a Trailer. Should be live soon
Amazing it has that many rock chips with only 500 miles. Someone who buys this to drive will be investing several thousand dollars down the road. Not being driven and sitting causes problems once you start regularly driving them. It’s a beautiful car indeed.
Yeah, it can happen. We have had the car serviced and it is road ready! Thanks!
I'm curious how it got an Imperial hood ornament instead of a square New Yorker hood ornament.
Actually if you Google images of these cars you will find several others with that same ornament. It could be that it could have been special ordered that way. Thanks!!!
Jim Lahey approved.
Excellent reference!
What is the 5th character (letter) in the VIN code?
Sorry I just saw this.... bringatrailer.com/listing/1978-chrysler-new-yorker-2/
Wow what a car most comfortable interior ill love sleep in back seat look

I'll bet it drive like a dreams and rooming interior it like a tank those car was huge
Driving it Ill bet don't feel the road
Play some 70 music take you back in
Time man good feeling time capsule
70s are the best cars also the 60s too
It was amazing!
Wow
I like Chrysler new Yorkers I have a 1984 Chrysler new Yorker and a 91 Chrysler new Yorkers 5th Avenue the 84 has one dent other than that all it needs is a paint job lol
What's the dealership website ? I think we can do a few deals on some units if this is the sort of quality you offer in your collection.
Hey so I only market my cars on UA-cam and then sell them on Bring a Trailer. Reason being is that BAT has a huge audience and I want to put my car in front of the most eyes!! You can call me and we can certainly do some direct deals before I submit them to auction! Thanks! Bill 843 294 7777
Did this Chrysler come equipped with REAR DISC brakes ?!? Secondly, is the dash CLOCK still operational ?!? Many Thanks Yo !
I don't think so. I believe the clock may have worked!
Can you share what this Chrysler ended up selling for ? Many THANKS Yo ! 💰💰💰🔍

Cool!!
I just bought a 76 and its just as nice and its for sale 8950.00 my radio also dont work and Mine is a beauty too already pjt alot of time into it and its for sale on market place in illinois must see .
Back in the day, with a set of air shocks, one could haul hundreds of lbs of weed in those huge trunks..
I thought the purpose of these cars was more along the lines of transporting snitches before they went to sleep with the fishes.
That rear "package shelf" should be made of stiff cardboard material. Neve seen one on any make made of "leather". It is made to look like leather, but is not. Super nice car, good luck with your auction.
Yes, thank you. It does look leathery! Lol
Nice car. It will need a lot of work if you ever intend to drive it from sitting for soo long. "Low mileage" vehicles are generally hidden money pits.
Service has been done. Drives perfect.
Coolest Car ever
You could say that!
Can someone please direct me to fuel lines for my New Yorker
Time capsule 😊👏
YES!
Also gentlemen, many of you are saying the hood emblem is wrong. That is not accurate. You can go online and find many of them that had this emblem. I am being told you could have special ordered it that way. Thanks!
So,when is the auction .Larry
Auction is live now and ends in 5 days!
What's the bidding process? Didn't see info and new to your channel. Thanks
I think you have to know where it's being sold and then that points you to the video here. They don't seem to be interested in directing people who only find the video, to the actual sale.
@@pt008 seems like it but he mentions that he would answer questions as soon as he could in one of the videos I watched but apparently not here. Guess I'll unsubscribe this one.
This will be offered on Bring a Trailer for sale. Should be live in a couple of weeks.
@@pt008 This will be offered on Bring a Trailer for sale. Should be live in a couple of weeks. Didn't realize people were seeing this video already
Where is the dealership? Is this car still available?
This is going up for auction on Bring a Trailer in the next couple of weeks. Not listed for sale at Competition Cars. Bought specifically for auction! Keep your eyes on Bring a Trailer as it will be posted soon!! Thanks!
Very nice car. Christian, where does one find the price and process if they are an interested buyer? Thanks.
This will be offered on Bring a Trailer for sale. Should be live in a couple of weeks.
Just wanted to follow up to be sure you found the auction website. The auction ends today late this afternoon. Good luck!!!
When I was a young teenager a woman in our church had one of these. Meanwhile one of her sons had one also, and her other son had a Lincoln Continental. I have no idea whatever became of those three cars though.
Would love to have them all now!
@@christianbugatticg Same here! That was back when they were almost new cars.
@@MillerMeteor74 If we kept all the cars we had!!
I ike the Imperial..Green Hornets car?
@@EbonyBunny1 don't forget, the Imperial had 4 wheel disc brakes where the NYB dropped that to lower the price by 2K in 76.
Thanks!
I own a 1983 Chrysler New Yorker and '85 Chrysler LeBaron convertible
Nice!
Nice car, but what watch are you wearing?
I believe it is a Citizens???
@@christianbugatticg Thanks. Nice!
What a beautiful automobile, they don't make em like this anymore, Whats the price?
It will be offered for sale on the Bring a Trailer website. Listing should go live in a couple of weeks.
Thanks! Yeah, even the lowest mile cars can be subject to wear and tear.
It's a shame that the original hood medalion wasn' tput back on the car. That one is for an older Imperial.
You know that was a topic of debate. During the auction some experts came on the thread and said that was something that could have been ordered from the factory. I cannot say with certainty, but that being said this car was untouched!
listen how does the car runs how does the carb behave
A driving video is soon to follow
Does it peel out?
Oh yeah!!
i bet if you take it to a dealer, you can get the apple car play updated and the radio will work
Lol, you think??
What a boat
Yup but pure gorgeous!

Is this BAD BOY STILL FOR SALE 🤔
Waiting for reply love it
where do you bid for this ebay
This will be offered on Bring a Trailer for sale. Should be live in a couple of weeks.
My only question is what are you asking for this Gem of a Chrysler?
Sorry you missed it but it sold for upper 30's.
That is a dilemma
Nice car - but why is the batter negative terminal changed after only 500 miles? I have a 74 Newport with over 200,000 miles and still original.
Also, hose for Dist. advance is off/missing. Rug looks like it damaged from wet spots.
'74 Newport is one of my favorite cars. My dad wasn't a Mopar fan but my friend's dad was. They had a '74 Newport and it was a smooth quiet ride.
@@524kirkd Thanks you sharing! They are nice road cars! Take care!
Battery was changed and it was done before I received the car. Anything is possible with a 43. year old battery terminal. And there are no stains that I see. NO water damage.
@@christianbugatticg Nice Car - Maybe the camera angle on the rug. Good luck selling - those are great road cars!

bringatrailer.com/listing/1978-chrysler-new-yorker-2/
I don't want to be "that guy," but the right front fender has odd panel gaps, the front bumper is riding .5-inch low and the pinstripes are 1977-style. Are you sure this car has not been repainted?
100% sure this car is a non repaint and totally correct. Went to an expert collector in Nevada for nearly $40,000. He had offers of $50,000 and he turned them down because of the originality and rareness of the New Yorker.
and let's not forget, this is late 70's Chrysler quality, so there is that.
@@christianbugatticg That's great! I hope its new owner has a lot of fun with that amazing car!
@@bobtepedino5661 I believe it's going in a collection and won't be driven.
