    This car has the very unusual seek function on the radio. Press either of the two large rectangular buttons on the radio marked local and distatn, and a motor will turn the radio tuning knob until it finds the next local or distant station. There is a button on the floor next to the high beam button that will do the same thing. This is in mint condition for what it is. I had one of these from 1985 to 2000, and it was a constant fight against rust. I could not keep up with it. It also does not have the Lean Burn ignition, which is good, those modules on the air cleaner were always conking out. I carried spares with me. The window motor was also a common repair, I had to do it a number of times. Watch out for the spring, it is very powerful and will probably take your finger off if you're not careful. If you let it off the regulator assembly while still wound up, it moves with astonishing speed and force.

    When I was kid my mother who stood 4ft 11inches had a black 76 chrysler New Yorker Brigham 4 door with the burgundy pillow top seats valor black vinyl roof and drove that car like a champ. She bought it brand new year after I was born & never let my father drive it lol she absolutely loved that car even more because of the power seat and because of her short height the seat was as far forward & high up so she could see over the dash lol. We had that car until 1987 when it was stolen from our home in Brookline Massachusetts and was found in new York City. When she got it back she felt uncomfortable driving it like she was violated she let it go. I would so love to have another one for myself one day and carry her ashes with me and take her for nice long road trips.

    Those seats are something else. Very typical of luxury cars of the period. Unfortunately, no one makes seats like that today. And the instrument panel has all the gauges. Nice.

    What I've always liked about the older Chrysler cars was the turn signals facing the driver on the fenders. My grandparents drove Dodge cars which the Aspen wagon they had had turn signals on the fenders. Made Chrysler products unique in my opinion.

    • @petermartinijr.1012

      GM had a similar feature, but was was unique about the Chrysler was they also acted as a gas usage warning light. When you were getting poor mileage, those fender blinker lights would both stay on warning you you were getting bad gas mileage. A joke by today's standards, the car probably got 10mpg going downhill when it was working at optimum efficiency. LOL. My father had a 1977 just like this car. My father bought a new car every 18 months, but nothing before or after was as nice as this car, not any of his Caddy's not his Lincolns. I wish I was older when he sold it, I would have loved to have kept this car.

    I would say $8500.00 at best ,needs a 134A conversion for the AC window gears installed , wiper linkage is broken somewhere , minor body scuffs . Add in new exhaust and if you can do the work yourself this would involve $ 400.00 to $ 650.00 in parts if you send it out figure on $ 1500.00 labor this would be about 10 grand or so at the aforementioned purchase price for a good quality driver , a fair deal, at asking price about 16 grand . Don't get me wrong these are neat old cars and the 440 CID A727 motor trans combo is one of the most durable drive trains in American cars this one is overpriced for it's condition shop around you will see that , get your moneys worth.

      Average retail for this car is $8600, with high retail being $18,200, and this car is definitely above average. Those things you mentioned are very minor when buying used collected cars. Window gear is a simple fix, you already have the gear, it is a easy afternoon fix even for those less knowledgeable. The problem with the wiper is most likely the plastic bushing on the linkage, a common issue for Chryslers of this area. Had to replace them on my Magnum and my Mirada. A good buff out is all the paint needs, there are no dents or rust. An original paint with a few minor blemishes is worth more than a respray. The AC could be expensive, or it could be cheap. I have gotten lucky and was able to use one of those conversion kits from Auto Zone and the AC worked great. I have also had the compressor go out. I am not sure where you are getting your exhaust done at, but you are getting ripped off. I just had 2.5 inch dual exhaust put on my Barracuda with Dynomax Suoer Turbo mufflers that cost $420. And that was with custom mandrel bent pipes. They weren’t stainless, just aluminized steel. The parts where about $250-270 and the rest was labor (3 hours @$50 an hour). If you simple replaced the exhaust with single exhaust, it would be about $250. Dual exhaust would be about $500-$550. This is a survivor and is worth more because of it. As far as finding a better deal, please let me know. I have been looking at mid 70s Chrysler C bodies for years and this is a pretty good deal, although I never pay asking price. This is at the least a $10,000 car.

      It's a car we have on consignment and the seller chose to sell it this way and announce up front what it needed and go from there. Sometimes the new owners may choose to do it themselves or work out us fixing it in the purchase price.

      @montymatilda 3 роки тому +1

      @@uniqueclassiccars I to didn't realize it was on consignment. But...the price is a little steep for all of the problems that need to be addressed. Window is self explanatory but who knows with the wipers, sounds like a broken wiper assembly which will require quite a bit of labor to fix and the parts? Well... The driver door pull strap has been pulled out of it's mountings and may be interesting to fix. If you have to replace the power antenna, where it is is labor intensive. I do not believe it only has 40,000 miles. The interiors on those thing lasted a very long time and many miles and it even has a sizable whole in the carpet on the driver side. Ok, I will stop complaining. It is a pretty year of car. I always liked them that is why I stopped here. It is really a shame I do not have any money right now to start negotiations to bring the price way down. Thanks for putting the car up and the still photos.

    All they did was discontinue the IMPERIAL, took off it’s badging, and slapped the “Chrysler New Yorker” name on it’s body …and then removed the IMPERIAL-exclusive features. Why buy a New Yorker when you can have the REAL THING ? This is an IMPERIAL CROWN COUPE with Chrysler badging…
    Or you can buy it, remove that badging, and replace it with IMPERIAL CROWN COUPE badging, since that is what it is ANYWAY…
